LESS THAT 1 star ever We called Tire Plus ahead of time to ask if they had availability for an oil change. They told us, "Yes, come now and we'll take care of you." We arrived within 5 minutes, handed over the keys, and then waited 2 full hours -- only to realize our car hadn't even been moved from the parking lot. Meanwhile, there weren't many customers inside, and the guys responsible for oil changes and tire work were just wandering around with tablets, barely doing anything. Completely unprofessional and a waste of time. When we finally asked for our keys back -- because we had a long trip ahead and couldn't wait any longer -- they handed them over without a single apology, even after we explained our situation. That lack of basic courtesy says everything. You're better off going literally anywhere else than dealing with this place. read more

Bought new set of tires from them and have the insurance for the tires. Called twice during twice during the day to ask about getting tire fixed and they said come in we'll squeeze you in. Get there and the female that works at front desk said we can't get you in. She was rude and mean. She sold me the tires and was nice then. I guess they are only nice when they want your money and then assholes when you need something fixed. Go somewhere else. read more

Had my car serviced here as I had a few times prior. This time the oil change and tire rotation took well over an hour. Then I was presented with the "what needs service on your car" check sheet. $1800 worth of repairs "needed very soon." Hmmm... I took my car to a local mechanic for inspection as I'm taking a road trip soon. There was absolutely nothing wrong with anything with my car. These people are corporate cons. read more

When checked on costs to repair flat and balance I explained twice that I was trading my vehicle in on a new car the following day. I asked how long, he said 45-60 mins. At a little over an hour later he called to say the tire was not reusable and that he could sell me two new front tires! Seriously !!! I just told you that I'm getting rid of the damn car tomorrow!! Then he told me he could not put my tire back on because it was against the law. Then he said I can give you a good deal on one tire. I exclaimed that I didn't have a choice now did I? He said he could put on my spare, I answered, you know the new Kia Optimas do not have spares. He also refused to sell me a used tire. So, this Tire Plus accomplished a FORCED tire sale. NOTE: I aired the tire up before leaving home, drove 68 miles, and 3 hours later (appts and errand) before I stopped at Tires Plus, I checked my tire pressure. Still at 35 PSI where is was when I left home! So I wonder how bad this tire really was? I would caution folks to closely examine your tires and be aware of this type of forced sale. Holy guacamole!!! We have horrible car trouble driving through rapid city (or so I thought!) It was Memorial Day holiday and nobody was open except this tire shop, as the problem occurred in my engine I think "oh no, this could be not good! Maybe have to spend multiple days waiting for a fix, yikes!" I ask man on phone his names Rex about it and he says no promises but I'll take a look! And he does. While he looked we went and ate and the famous international house of pancake or ihop for short and then come back and we feel not hopeful. But he's done it! Like a magic man fixed our problem, piece of cake baby!!!! And the best part.... refused to take our payment As it was just minor error that triggered lights in the dashboard to flash. I burst a tire in Hermosa and drove on a spare to Rapid City. I called every tire repair place in town and only tires plus was open. I was going only to buy a tire to change it myself, but when I got there the guy working there, Tyler, offered to change the tire despite the fact that it was an extra and unplanned tire change for him. He was incredibly nice and super helpful, saying that he was happy to help and loved his work. Truly, I walked away from the interaction smiling because of my interactions with Tyler and thinking myself incredibly lucky to have gotten to run into him at all in any context. Because of his kindness, I was able to continue on my way through South Dakota despite an unlucky tire accident. While on vacation in Wall SD, we noticed that we were losing pressure in one tire of our rental van. With nothing open on a Sunday and a unresponsive rental agency, we pushed on to Rapid City and found this Tire Plus about a 1/2 hour before their closing time. Tyler stayed past closing time and got us back on the road so that we could make our hotel reservation in Deadwood. Thank you Tyler! 8 bays, one mechanic go somewhere else. Called on my way they did tell me they were busy, when I arrived the gentleman at the front desk made it seem like it would be a speedy oil change and brake check. Not the case, walked all the way to petsmart and back and after an hour making it 3pm my truck hadn't moved. When I asked of an ETA that it would get into the bay he said that he told me there was no guarantee, that is not time guarantee but also no guarantee that it would get done. Waste of time. One mechanic and atleast 3 other uncertified people were just standing around mindlessly watching the cell phones. Do your own oil change before seeing these guys. 8 car bays, one mechanic, go somewhere else. read more

Had to order a tired for a Nissan altima figured a common car the place would have a common Bridgestone tire. It took a week to get it in, finally showed up only to have them take 5 hours for 1 tire replacement! And the guy in front of us had his keys lost by the mechanics. I don't even own a car in "real life" but I do rent them while vacationing, which is how I ended up at Tires Plus. I would never review a tire shop but I had such a good experience here that I had to tell about it. I had the misfortune of getting a flat tire on the first day of my trip in my rental car, which the rental company would not help me out with. I kind of started freaking out, worried that my trip would be all thrown off scheduled because finding a tire shop that is open on the Sunday morning of Memorial Day weekend is not easy, especially in Rapid City. As luck would have it, I remembered passing by Tires Plus and gave them a call around 9:30am on Sunday morning. Sure enough, they were open and told us to stop right in to have the tire changed. The mechanic who helped us was fast and very clear on what he needed to do. It took him about 30 minutes to change the tire and we were on our way. I appreciated that he actually tried to down-sell us to a cheaper tire when I told him this was a rental car. The tire change including tax and labor ended up costing about $152, but that was better than waiting around for someplace cheaper to open. Everybody at Tires Plus was courteous and thorough, and they definitely helped avert a bigger disruption in my trip to the Black Hills, so that's worth five stars by itself! read more

Was on a trip cross country for business and had some car issues. Very scary when your car gives you problems on the road in the middle of no where. Shacked up at the hotel and early morning next day brought it to Tire Plus. Drake at the front desk was funny, and very helpful. Andrew the MAN was a rockstar. Found out the problem, fixed it quick, made my wait and this little problem a breeze. While on vacation in late October, we managed to pick up a bolt in a tire on Friday night. After many calls, Tires Plus was the ONLY place open so we pushed our donut to Rapid City. They could not get us in that night but assured us they would get to it "as soon as possible" in the morning. We went back to tour hotel and started to rearrange our plans for the next day not expecting an early repair. We were wrong! An employee came in early to repair our tire and called us before the store even opened! The gal at the front desk was funny, bright spirited and helpful on an early Saturday morning! Bought tires and warranty with cash, later came back to use my warranty and found that I wasn't even in their system. So some employee obviously pocketed my cash and wrote the tires off as stolen or lost, either way I never got the warranty I paid for! I'll never go here again. read more

Avoid it like the plague... Awful service. Took my car in to get 4 stuck lug nuts removed Saturday afternoon. The manager told me he could remove them for $50 but i would have to come back in the morning. All was well, just glad i could find someone who was willing to help. I arrived at 9 am and didn't receive assistance until 1130. The removal took 15 minutes to complete. He "bumped" two costumers ahead of me in line, even though, they only do walk-ins on Sunday. After the process was complete he then charged me $150. They were obscenely rude. They disregarded any former negotiations or politeness. The costumer service was appalling. read more

Full disclosure, I ended up not getting any service done at this Tires Plus. But, that is really because they didn't try and sell me on work that didn't need to be done. Drake and Andrew were the two that I dealt with at Tires Plus in Rapid City, SD. Andrew was very knowledgeable about my potential issue, provided some practical advice on how to deal with it and was honest about what they could do for me at that point. We were headed out on a trip and took the car in to get everything checked out and were told by Tires Plus it was in severe need of control arms, axles, tie rods, new tires, etc. We took in a different vehicle to get check out as well...and were told the exact same things were wrong with it, that it wasn't safe, and needed over $1000 in repairs immediately. I thought this seemed suspicious, so we got a second opinion from Bargain Barn and none of it was true. We caught Tires Plus trying to scam and exploit a working single mother and her children, not just once, but back to back in a row. I've been here a few times in the past and I was not pleased with their overall service. I am not sure if the same people are there when I brought my car in. The main issue was a disconnect in communication between the manager and I, in regards to my aftermarket suspension. I suggest going elsewhere for better quality and customer service. If possible go to the dealerships instead, like Jacob's. They will usually provide you a discount if you are a loyal customer. read more

I had a flat tire about a year ago. The experience wasn't bad just a very long wait cause there were so many people. We had to put the donut on to drive the car over there. We didn't check to see they put the right donut back in the car. So it has been in the trunk buried under a bunch of stuff in the car. So this year we had another flat and the put the donut on and it seems like a different donut. It made a bunch of noise and it does look like a different donut. SO I wish I had checked to make sure I got the right one back or marked it in some way. Put fingernail polish or used permanent markers or something. read more

I was on my way through SD when my heat shield came loose. They guys got me right in, took care of it and were as nice as can be! I can't thank Matt enough for his cheerful, can-do attitude and advice. They took care of my car and had me on my way within 20 minutes! Even gave me recommendations for places to eat near Mt. Terrible business and lack of motivation/care. Took my brand new rims there to get tires put on, just to have one of them destroyed by them dropping it. They offered to replace the one rim and they were going to "expedite" it. But, it took 3 weeks to get that one rim in and when I went in to get the rim replaced, I was treated like complete garbage from the "manager" who I believe is named Rex. They put two of my wheels on completely backwards (and I have pictures to prove). And only torqued down one of the five lug nuts on each of my wheels. They WILL treat you like you are not knowledgeable and in the wrong no matter what. I was charged $108 for this incredible service or I "couldn't leave in my car". You'd be better off going to somewhere else. I hope this is solved, and my advice is that you get some trustworthy managers that don't make your business look TERRIBLE from a paying customer's prospective. There is no reason I should've got treated like I did and there is no reason why anyone else should. read more

I have been going to this location for 4 years and I received nothing but exceptional service. The last time that I went I ordered 2 tires and they told me that it would take about a week to get the tires in. 2 and a half weeks later I called them asking about my tires. Apparently my tires were never ordered. So I ordered them again. A week and a half later I called inquiring about my tires after being on hold for 24 minutes they told me they were out of stoke from wherever they ordered them from. So they ordered them from a different place. When they came in they were the wrong ones. So they reordered them. Another week later the correct tires came in. I went in on a Sunday morning for their first come first serve. I was 5th in line and I was there until 230 there were 4 people served before me that were in line behind. I do not know what happened in a 6 month period but I was not impressed and I will not be going back. read more
