I recently had an unfortunate situation come up, where I thought I would just be getting a small hole in my tire filled... which quickly turned into getting all four tires completely replaced. So you can only imagine where my mind was at that day. The employees at Tire Doctor were extremely friendly and the service they gave me was above par even with how busy they were that day. They were able to get me in two days in a row, order the exact tires I wanted brand new with a little deal and installed them all within three days!!! Talk about quality service!! I am extremely grateful for Pike and the two front desk ladies who helped me through what could've been a very rough week! This might be a little lengthy but it's warranted. So I came into Tire Doctor for an oil change and a tire rotation on a Friday based on a recommendation. They did the oil change and informed me that my two front tires weren't safe for rotating. They said they could get the tires the next day delivered. The next day, I get a call at 8:30AM informing me that they had been delivered. So, I go in but I have a two year old with me. I've got to say, I was pleasantly happy with how every body in there talked with him and even did fist bumps with him. It was nice to see how they treated their customers, no matter how small. They even got two people to work on our car together so that we weren't sitting there longer. That little gesture meant a lot to someone with a tired two year old. (One gentlemen even offered to make me a cup of coffee) When I went to pay, I was surprised yet again. They had quoted me the day before but I thought it was just for the tires. I didn't realize it was the actual total including all the parts and labor. When they tell you price, it's what they mean. They didn't try to sell me on something my vehicle "might" have needed. Went to get one tire mounted. Lady at desk filled out order with every part of a tire mount listed and charged separately. Then I sat around 20 mins watching techs watching another tech work on a car. This place is under new owner and is not the same neighborhood tire shop it once was. Never going back. read more

My child is a student at Davidson and I live over 2 hours away. He ended up with a slow leak (picked up a screw) last week. My husband drove up yesterday and put a plug in it, but the plug apparently didn't hold because the tire was low again late this afternoon (Saturday). I found this place because they were open and near Davidson. Called and the kind lady that answered the phone was super helpful. They got the tire repaired and were prepared to order a new tire for me if we couldn't repair it. It's hard having your kid be several hours away, especially when things like this pop up. It helps knowing there are places like this that will help you out in a pinch. While we are at the end of freshman year now, The Tire Doctor has won the business of that Wildcat for the next 3 years of school. read more

This place is not the same since Nigel sold the business a few years ago. Their rates are higher now, but the service is worse. I specifically made an 8 am appointment for a simple brake job and the car was not put in a bay until after lunch, probably since I wasn't there in the waiting room. Never got a phone call update, so went by at 3:30 and the work was still not done. read more

On 6/7/23, I had both driver's side tires replaced there. On 6/21/23, the back driver's side tire had a blowout on the highway. Speaking with the owner, Ben Carson, was completely discouraging & insulting. He asked me "How could be be sure that I hadn't driven over a screw? Were my tires on the passenger side worn? Was my alignment out of balance?" Further, he has not returned any of my calls since. Speaking with a number of tire knowledgeable men, they confirmed that none of those things could have caused a blowout. Their guesses we're dry rot, a defective tire or that the tire had been put on too tightly. The concensus was the latter. Feeling I should get my money back or have a new tire put on, but no response from Ben. I am 70 years old, & deserve both respect & the courtesy of his being responsible for his business. Ive used Tired Doctor for 2 years and the service has gone down hill. The last 3 visits they left the inside of my car covered in oil and handprints. The miss ordered a friends tires. The front desk staff is not only unfriendly but rude and dismissive. The scheduling is a mess. They mounted the wrong tires on the front of two cars. The mechanics no longer seam to know how to answer questions and it makes me question if they are skilled. The couldn't tell me how long I should expect breaks to last. I know they are rated. The skipped changing the oil filter for another friend and they lied about it. Whoever took over the business has let the standards slip a lot. I am writing on behalf of several customers including the one who referred me in 2021. We are very disappointed and will be going elsewhere. read more

I NEVER write reviews as I believe they are a waste of time but I'm feed up. WORST TIRE SHOP I have ever been to in my life. If I didn't have to get home to my son I would have rather slept in my car than pay them my hard earned money when all they do is OVERCHARGE, I literally watched them take my car in at 4:00PM and finish at 4:25PM. I had a simple tire replacement (ONE) to my spare. They charged me 150$ for just that and when I looked at my receipt it said 1 hour of work was done. Not only did I wait up there all day and watch customers who come in AFTER ME leave before me they waited till closing to work on my car. I'm very disappointed in this company taking advantage of an out of towner. I will never be back so help me god. -10/5 STARS. read more

I removed my wheel/tire that needed patched. I stopped by to see if they could fix it. They said to leave it & they could get it in an hour or so. I returned 2 1/2 hours later, they rushed it in to the repair technician when they seen me coming in. I sat & waited about 15 minutes, the repair guy got it done, put it in the back of my SUV for me, was very polite. I returned inside to pay for it, after about 15 minutes, I approached to pay for it, they were struggling at the desk to keep things sorted & right with the computer. I was told to "wait", "I'm trying to figure this mess out!". 5 minutes later, she charged me $42.00 for a simple patch on my tire, I told her that seemed high, Goodyear had done one for me recently for $16??? She said "whatever, it's our flat rate for a patch!". I paid it & left. I would have left a 1 star if it wasn't for how nice the technician was. read more

Very disappointed. I have used tire doctor for years and service has definitely gone downhill. I left my car with them for 3 days for new tires, brakes and oil change. I still had to wait for almost 2 hours before it was ready on the 3d day, and they forgot to install new tire pressure sensors. So I still have that nagging little light on. No wonder they don't give appointments. The prices are about the same as any other car repair shop. Due to the fact it is about same expense I will find another mechanic. Perhaps the next mechanic will actually listen and complete repairs requested in a much more timely manner. Not to worry tire dr I won't be back. read more

As I waited 3 hours for an oil change and inspection, the inspector asked me how old my tires were. I had just had the shop put new tires on the day before. Someone forgot to put on two lugnuts; which is terrifying. Another person had a similar problem who was mad waiting int he shop and a guy who dropped his car off first left furious because it still wasnt done. I will never come to this shop again. My tire couldve fallen off my car if I had done more driving with my toddler in the car. The day before I waited two hours to have new tires put on paying $300 more than the best quotes because I wanted to support a local shop. When they discovered the missing lugnuts they forgot to put on the day before. they only ordered one. I waited an hour for lugnuts to be delivered and they didnt order enough. Then I waited another 20 minutes. Never again and thank god my wheel didnt fall off the day before. They then blamed that on the prior tire repair shop- there had been none. I had one set of tires on the car the entire time and they were undoubtedly the ones who didnt put the two back on the day before. Save yourself the frustration, money and safety risks of going here. read more

Woke up to a deflated tire due to a screw puncture. Found Ben at Tire Doctor via Facebook at 630a. Responded right back and found a set of tires for my car (z rated low profile odd size tires). Ben then informed me that the courier service to get them same day was not available...so he just went to Charlotte and got them without asking. Great service from start to finish. Friendly people. January 31, 2022 I have been going to this company for seven years. I even left a five-star review for this company once. (It's in the "6 reviews for Tire Doctor that are not currently recommended" section for some reason, maybe because I don't do lots of reviews.) In fact, there are lots of good reviews from the 2017-2019 period. But it was under different management then and times have changed. I just had an inspection done and needed two tires to pass. They don't keep tires in stock here any more, to cut down on inventory, which means I had to come back another day. They said my tires are a very common size. (Doesn't logic dictate that you should keep the common sizes in stock?) So I ordered two tires and came back once they had been delivered. (The tires were ordered and delivered on time, so that's one star.) I believe there were two cars ahead of me and It took two hours to have the tires installed and they didn't even put on the valve caps. The tech was a very nice guy, but...attention to detail folks. You know how at a tire shop you hear that pneumatic wrench going all the time, removing and installing lug nuts? It used to be that way here, but not now. After the two hours it took to install my tires, there were now people ahead of me in the inspection line, even though they all arrived after me. I was looking at another hour wait because they can't just update the inspection from three days ago, they have to hook the car up to the computer all over again. Way out of time now, and since they wouldn't move me up in the line, I asked if I could make an appointment to come back. No, it's first come, first served. (Not really true, because I was there before the people ahead of me in the inspection line.) So I asked what was the best way assure speedy service, and they said "be here when we open". So I said, "even if I'm here when you open, there could be people ahead of me who left their car overnight. How can I tell what the wait might be?" And they said that there's no way to tell. In desperation I asked if I could have a refund on the inspection so I could take the car somewhere else. No, no refunds because "the state won't let us". Umm, how can the state of North Carolina possibly care if a customer gets a refund? So... 1) Tires not kept in stock any more. 2) Inordinate wait times for tire change. 3) Inordinate wait times for inspection. 4) Only one bay with tire changing equipment---when you only need a wrench and an air hose! It's the "TIRE Doctor", and only one bay out of four can change tires? By the way, 50% of the bays were unused while I was there. 5) More people not working than working. I was shocked at the number of idle personnel going in and out of the break room. No company can afford to pay idle personnel for long, let alone that many. Ordinarily an idle mechanic would be put to work cleaning or organizing the shop, or doing SOMETHING productive. This does not bode well. 6) No appointments. That used to be OK, but then you didn't use to wait two hours to have tires changed, ever. 7) Inability to logically process or track customers in the queue. 8) The receptionist asked me for my name three times. The first lesson of customer service is to remember the customer's name. Most repair shops don't even use my name, rather I am the "2012" Corolla", or whatever I'm having serviced. 9) Slow service means the six seats in the waiting area are no longer enough. 10) A one hour job would have taken three, had I not left after two. 11) Once an inspection has begun you are locked in, unless you want to pay all over again somewhere else. I'm afraid the future is not looking bright for the Tire Doctor, and that makes me very sad, because it used to be one of my favorite stores. I looked forward to going down there every year to spend time with Nigel and the gang. Now, Nigel is gone, none of the old gang remain, and new management is going through the motions rather than managing. It's an old story that I've unfortunately seen play out before. Some one person needs to be in charge and making sure that everybody is pulling in the same direction, and that's not happening. No, the managers answer the phone for a while and then disappear. Nigel was always at the counter, and things always ran smoothly under his watchful, competent eye. He managed that with fewer employees than they have now too. I suppose I'll have to drive a bit further now, but I don't have time for this, and nobody should. Nigel, we miss you! read more

Came here to get a new battery- they squeezed me into the schedule. While the waiting room is barely a room, it was ok to get out of the elements. Not a "foo-foo" place, they don't have an online presence- but they get the job done and are nice about it. read more

I have been coming here for 15 years after being taken advantage of by a dealership. This place is fair and will not take advantage of you. They get you in and out and when we had little kids in tow they were great about taking care of us quickly. They have been here for decades and any one who has been around cornelius will tell you that the Tire Doctor has a great reputation. Needless to say I go there first whenever I have a mechanical issue. They have no problem referring bigger problems out but I trust all of their referrals. read more

My poor Focus was making some funky sounds and was in need of medical attention. Luckily a co-worker recommended I visit the Tire Doctor for affordable service. Not only was the price right, but the staff were friendly to boot. I knew my Focus' life was in good hands. I initially brought the car in for a quick examination where the Doc himself took a look and gave me an estimate. I brought my car in today to get the operation and was pleasantly surprised to find that the bill ended up being cheaper than the estimate, which is always sweet. As I said, the staff are friendly and the Doc will shoot the bull with whoever is hanging out in the waiting room. Good conversation definitely helped pass the time while my car was being operated on. The only "bad" thing I have to say is that it could be awhile to actually get in, since the place seems to have some pretty steady business. I had to come in twice before he had a free bay to give me an estimate, and then had to wait four days before he had an opening in the schedule. However, the estimate and the work itself both took a short amount of time, so while you may have to wait to get in, you won't wait long once the car is in the garage. If you're in the Davidson area and need some car work done, give the Doc a call. After this last bit of service I'll definitely be going back for any other car-related procedures that need to be performed. read more

Took my car in for a sound that happens during braking. Mechanic couldn't hear the problem, so I drove him and elicited the sound with the first braking attempt. He said, "That sounds horrible!". I left my car overnight Tuesday because they didn't have time to put car on the lift to assess. I was told it was a CV axle issue on Wednesday when I called for an update. They ordered the part now on Wednesday, I got a phone call stating the part arrived and the car would be ready 1-2pm on Thursday. I called Friday at noon to ask if it was complete only for them to tell me, the next mechanic couldn't initiate the sound again so they didn't fix anything. Had my car for 4 days!!! I had to call to get updates, no one offered to call to tell me there was no repair. Poor communication! No resolve in the issue. Waste of my time. Why do you order parts to not repair anything? read more

They destroyed my car! After it been in their shop for TWO WEEKS, I went to pick it up. They said it was all fixed except for a sensor light and just to bring it back on Monday. Well, NOTHING was fixed when I drove the car home. So I took it back on Monday, and they kept it another whole week -- so now THREE WEEKS without a car. When my husband picked it up, they said something was wrong with the electrical system but they couldn't repair the electrical system (which was fine when we took the car to them in the first place!!!). So we drove to the Mazda dealership and learned that Tire Doctor damaged the axels, which they were supposed to fix, totally messed up the electrical system, and basically destroyed the car. The dealership wants $4800 to repair all the damage. Tire Doctor doesn't want to give us a refund, and has stopped returning our calls. We are contesting the $2100 charge with the credit card company and trying to decide if we want to take further action. Avoid them unless you want your car destroyed! TOTAL DISASTER! read more
