Missing coolant cap and missing bolt. We had to create a cap with aluminum foil and rubber bands

On September 1, 2018, we ran into car troubles and were towed to the Huntersville, NC AAA Car Care Center. We were thankful they were able to work on our car as we were only about 250 miles into a 900-mile trip when the trouble occurred. They were able to repair the problem (the clip that connects the fuel line to the fuel filter broke and gas leaked everywhere). Within about an hour and a half, they fixed it and we were on our way. Unfortunately, about 100 miles down the road the oil gauge light came on. We pulled off the road to see what was going on. We quickly found out that the AAA Car Care Center shop did not properly fill the van with oil after the repair. In addition to that, they did not replace the coolant in the reservoir either; it was empty. To add insult to injury, the shop did not put the reservoir cap back on the coolant reservoir nor did they replace the bolt that holds the coolant reservoir in place. Needless to say, I wasn't happy when I saw that. We added coolant and had to create a makeshift coolant cap using aluminum foil and rubber bands. We added a quart of oil and hoped we would be okay for the remaining 650 or so miles of our trip. Fortunately, we made it home safely with no further issues. I was thankful that the Huntersville, NC AAA Center was able to fix the problem (hence the 3 stars), but they should take the time to complete the job properly. Just a side note: A few months ago my hubby's car ran into trouble and it was towed by AAA to a Triple A approved shop in New York. That shop fixed the problem for a total cost of $59. They did not charge a diagnostic fee. The Huntersville, NC AAA location charged a $109.95 diagnostic fee before they even looked at the vehicle.

$160 for a synthetic oil change?!?!? I'm from the Bay Area and that price is ridiculous for overpriced California. Get a clue AAA.

Our first trip was to the Amalfi coast, never could I imagine a more wonderful experience. Every minute from arriving in Rome, to arriving in Positano for 8 nights, and returning to Rome was amazing. Our journey director was outstanding. Our fellow travelers were fabulous, a group of 12. We would explore the coast from this beautiful spot in Positano, each day setting out for adventure in a lovely Mercedes van. We were mostly in places where we saw few Americans, we ate at wonderful restaurants, and had an absolute blast. We had a wonderful blend of active and down time, we learned and saw so much, and laughed every day ! Amazing! The next trip was Florence, Cinque Terra, and Tuscany, amazing as well. The hotels and villa we stayed in were top notch, our journey director amazing, another perfect trip. This was a more active trip, but we enjoyed every second, we felt like we saw a very real side of Italy, not just tourist spots. The Time we spent on each spot was magical. The charming town of Lucca and the Villa in Tuscany were top of our list. We are not organized tour people, but the small group, perfectly curated Nada's trips are beyond. We could not recommend them more highly.

We went to Italy and April planned everything we wanted to do for us and even put it all together in a binder with our itinerary including hotel and transportation vouchers - all within the budget we gave her (somehow). She included instructions and helpful tips for every part of our journey and picked the best days to do each activity. We had some trouble on the return home when our connecting flight was cancelled due to an airline strike. We went to the airline's customer service desk as we were already at the gate when the cancellation happened. There were at least 30 people in front of us and, in a few short minutes, dozens more behind us and we were going nowhere. We decided to call April and ask if she could help. I'm so happy we did. We were able to get out of that line and go grab a bite to eat while April solved all of our problems, arranging a new flight and a hotel. As if that wasn't enough, April constantly followed up with us to make sure we were getting everything we needed and that we returned home safely. Then she helped us get reimbursed for all of the additional expenses due to the flight cancellation. I could tell you about all of the small things April did like inform our hotels we were honeymooning so they comped us champagne or update us with changes to tour schedules so we didn't miss anything, but it is the constant attention she placed on our needs during our trip to make sure that everything was perfect that really made the difference. Both vacations we booked through April were perfect and I couldn't imaging trying to do it without her. Thank you, April, for making sure our honeymoon was special.

FACILITY Getting to the village from the Punta Cana airport…read moretakes about 90 minutes and is costly. If you arrive at Santa Domingo airport it takes twice that long. The facility plan is well thought out, with an emphasis towards maintaining the natural jungle environment ("eco-chic"). The beach is very nice and seems to extend forever in both directions. The sand is a soft, light-tan color and the water is warm and a gorgeous green. You MUST walk the beach in both directions to appreciate the beauty of the site! Rooms are spacious and incorporate the environmental theme throughout. A big plus is the large tub as well as an oversized shower. All rooms have a balcony or patio. We stayed in two areas and found the Emerald Jungle rooms bigger and also more luxurious than those in Caribbean Paradise. The Jungle is only for adults, has its own pool and bar, and thus is much more suitable for those vacationing without children. Although the facility is spread out, it is designed so that everything is within walking distance. Alternatively, there are golf carts ("boogies") always available to escort you to all locations. We saw two shows performed by professionals, rather than the regular GO's: the Michael Jackson Show and the Latino Dance Show. Both were quite good! In summary, of the 20 stays we have had at a dozen or so Club Med's, both in the America's and in Europe, this was our best ever. The site is phenomenal, the rooms are incredible, and the food is outstanding. Having said this, the thing that we will forever treasure is how we were treated by the personnel. FOOD Admittedly, we are picky eaters and inclined towards chicken, (cooked!) fish, beef, Italian food, and veggies. In spite of this limitation, we enjoyed the variety of dishes that were available, especially the wonderful sauces. If your food inclination is towards octopus, squid, intestines, sweetbread, clams, raw fish, lamb, or pork, your taste buds will throw a party for your mouth! The desserts were fabulous and the best we have ever had at a Club Med! PERSONNEL No matter which village we have ever been to, we have always enjoyed and appreciated the GO's. At Miches, however, they were exceptional! We have never encountered a group such as we did at this village! They were dynamic and went out of their way to make our stay special. It wasn't just the GO's who were so incredible. The GE's were unbelievable! With the exception of Turks & Caicos, we have always been grateful for the GE's. But at Miches it was different. These people always had a smile on their faces, and greeted us whenever we saw them. We got to know many of them and it proved to be a gut-check for us. Most of them were from the Dominican Republic and they were thrilled to just have a job. The other half had escaped from Haiti and they thought that they had died and gone to heaven. It truly gave us pause to be thankful for all that we have! REALITY REARS ITS UGLY HEAD Beginning the week of March 17th, COVID-19 was on everyone's mind. We checked with JetBlue each day to be sure it was still flying, and everything was fine until Wednesday morning, at which time the flight was canceled! We ran down to Reception and explained our dilemma. We were helped enormously by Edwardo and Catalina who helped us get an alternate flight for Thursday. Unfortunately, it was canceled later Wednesday afternoon. So, there were no flights leaving on Thursday or Friday, and Wednesday was supposed to be our last night! Amazingly, Edwardo allowed us to stay free of charge for the two additional days. We had a reservation (we hoped!) with American on Saturday, so we just kept praying and enjoyed the village as best we could. In the meantime, the Club decided to shut down completely on Saturday, so one way or the other we had to depart then. In addition to all the help that Reception afforded us, the Club also did its best to try to make our remaining two days a comfortable experience. Although there were only 20 of us GM's left, the quality and quantity of the food remained excellent, the sport activities continued, and the service never wavered. It would have been so easy to start mothballing the village, but that never happened. In fact, the Chief told us that by keeping the village up and running, he was going to be left with 80 GO's who needed to fly out! One final note: our travel agent, Thia, was wonderful! We used to make all our Club Med reservations directly, but in 2017, during a busy period, while we were on hold, the phone system automatically connected us to her. How fortunate for us! Thia is a "preferred" agent for Club Med and she has done things for us that we could not have accomplished on our own. She has a direct connection to Club Med reservations and is able to cut corners and get special favors for her clients. We highly recommend her.
