I just had the worst experience I've ever had with a mechanic at this store. I do not recommend, especially for women. I went in asking to get my brake pads changed and my oil changed. I ended up requesting my fluids be changed too. They gave me a reasonable quote, and told me they would call if it were going to be any higher. They called an hour later, telling me that my front brake pads didn't need to be changed and it was going to be cheaper than my quote. When I went in, they showed me the quote I had signed then rang me up. They attempted to charge me twice the quote without saying anything. I asked, assuming there was a typo or a mistaken identity. They then told me that it was correct, and that I had to agree to pay an extra $600 for the parts (although the quote included the price of the parts). They initially told me the extra cost was for the brake pads, then said it was the fluids. They couldn't even confirm the entire forty five minutes whether the increase was for the pads or the fluids. They refused to charge me the original price, or something within $100 of it, until I told them I was an attorney. Equally bad, the manager acted like it was my boyfriend's car and asked for his confirmation any time I answered a question. It is my car, in my name, with my insurance. They looked at my license, and my account was connected to my phone number and an email including my name. My boyfriend wasn't there when I dropped the car off, he only took me to pick it up. He did not even come into the store until I had been arguing for a while. Until I told him I was a lawyer, the manager laughed at almost everything I said as if I were an idiot. Do not recommend this place. I'm new to the area and figured I'd try the closest tire place to home. I dropped in and asked if they had four new tires in a specific size. They didn't but said that they would be able to get them in the next day. They agreed that it would be OK that I leave my car overnight so they can get started on it first thing in the morning. I received a call at 12 o'clock stating that the car was on the rack and they were finishing up the alignment and it would be 30 minutes to an hour. my husband and I went to dinner and came back at 5:30 and my car was not on the rack in the tires have not been replaced. We are still here and it's been over an hour and they are still working on my vehicle. I definitely will not be coming back here. read more

First thing, the place closes at 4pm on Saturdays and I did not get out of there with my truck until almost 5pm. I was told they could not provide a standard receipt when I paid but one would be emailed to me. A week and a half later I still have not received that email. I have also discovered a sizable scratch on the side of my truck that I am positive did not exist before taking it to this Tire Discounters in Richmond, KY. Pathetic. Went in for a simple tire rotation for my Toyota Tundra, and got sold on a balance (I honestly didn't need it but figured it was good preventive maintenance. Prior to coming here my truck rode very smooth. After the rotation and balance the truck would shake at the wheel when I hit a little over 60mph. Great I just paid to have a problem. I called and let them know and they said they'd make it right. After my work week was over with I get a chance to come back in to get it resolved and the manager had to make a call to be sure they could rebalance them at no cost due to me not purchasing my tires from them (even though it was their shotty work that caused the problem). Sure enough the front wheels ended up being out of spec, they said they fixed it but it's honestly not smooth as it was before I dropped the truck off to them. Pretty sure they didn't air up my tires the first time either because I had 3 tires at 45psi then one at 34 when I checked it with my digital Milwaukee Compressor maybe 10 miles after leaving. TERRIBLE : Purchased 4 tires less than 2 yrs ago from them with warranty. Tires were just over 1k for 4. Had a leak in one tire recently tire was going flat. Called them, couldn't find me or my warranty in system. Replaced valve stem and sent me on my way . 2 days later tire is flat , went to different shop and they found a leak in tire that could not be plugged . Leak was never valve stem . Paying out of pocket for new tire with someone else. Obviously someone didn't care to check the entire tire and took the easy way out. Great customer service !!! I've had problems here before with some valve covers sealing. However it looks as if they are under new management and have done really good with the newer employees. They get you in and out. Also i've never had a problem with them when it comes to tires and wheels. They have done me really good with the tires i have now. read more

Had an oil change done at another business and they were unable to get the bolts off my driver side tires to complete the rotation. This Tire Discounter location not only got them off, but they also completed the tire rotation and put on new caps. They were extremely busy and handled the crowd very well with quick and friendly service. They closed at 7pm and it was after 8pm before I left; talk about going the extra mile and extra effort. Leaving one star just so I can say this. Not only did we put a down payment on for tires, they never called to say the tires were in, ready they just gave us a time and date. What they said would be not even an hour has taken them well over 5 hours to change four tires. They broke the lug nuts, and rather than tell us they charged us for new ones, so what was $1200 is now $1500. We sat in the parking lot for four hours and watched as the staff and crew hung out on our truck, leaning against it, not working. I recommend going to Walmart if you want to be taken care of and not ripped off. Negative stars if possible. Do not go here. Only one good thing out of this entire ordeal, nobody has a mask on. Besides that you best be at walmart, tire discounters only wants the money from your pocket. They took off our $300 spacers and said it came damaged. I developed a shake in my car. I take it to Tire Discounters in Richmond, KY. They tell me I have a band broken in one of my tires and my tread is so worn I need 4 new tires. I bought said tires 13 months ago from these people. They have a 55thousand mile warranty. They put down my starting mileage as 1. When I point this out they say they must be defective and the manufacture may pro rate if I buy new tires. I take my suspicions and leave. I take the same car, on the same tires, with the same shake to S&S Tires. The tread wear is where it is expected to be with the mileage on them. There is no broken band. They balanced my tires. It was a smooth drive down to work this morning. I did accuse them trying to cheat me because I am a woman but that was not the case as they did the same thing to a friend at work. I always get my changed here. Have been doing so for almost 3 years. I drive a Chevy Cruze and it requires the semi synthetic oil which can be costly compared to normal oil but they have my work discount on file and always give it to me without me even having to ask. They normally do a check on stuff to make sure everything is running smoothly and let me know any recommendations. But lately my windshield washer fluid hasn't been working. I asked them to refill it last oil change but it's still not working. Might be the pump or something electrical. But they never mentioned it to me once so I guess it's not in the normal checks. I'd gladly have paid to have it fixed if something is wrong. But that's my only complaint in 3 years. I'll still keep going back. They gave me a great deal on Michelin defender tires a year and a half ago. But they also normally always have some special on tires or will even recommend a tire closer to your price range. I saw 1 bad review from someone and that is far from the norm with tire Discounters. I feel I get great value for the prices which are better than other places I've been. Came to tire discounters because my car was shaking really bad and i'm about 1:30 minutes from my dealership. After calling the dealership they said it sounds like it could be the tires that are out of alignment and that i could just take it to a tire place for them to check. So that's what i did and they told me everything was fine and my tires were aligned and nothing was wrong with the brakes or wheels. so i ended up taking it to the dealership for further inspection and come to find out the tires are out of alignment and i had a puncture in one tire. Not sure how these guys missed that but it was a waste of my time. read more

I m a customer since many years at the Richmond shop !! Oil changes, new batteries, new tires and I was always very satisfied! But today I drop my car around 10.30 off for an oil change and I work right over the parking lot !! I told them I will pick up the car during my lunch time around 3 pm, like I always do ! But when I arrived around 3.15 my car got just I for an oil change after 4.5 hr ! You Associate told me it will be an other 20 min !!!! After waiting a other 40 min my car got finally out, but the sales associate was not in a hurry to finish me up !! It was 3.50 pm and I told him I m in a hurry and have to go back to work, but he got really smart ass !!!! I have given this store chance after chance. Today makes the last one. They always find ways to make me pay more than what I went in to have them do. Whatever, I understand that selling services is part of their job and that cars are expensive to maintain. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'm bringing it up because when there's always - and I mean ALWAYS - an unforeseen expense, it does not set the mood for a good customer experience. Of the 10 or so times that I've been going to them since 2014, I can only remember one time that I was out of there in less than 4 hours. That's not acceptable. It doesn't matter if I had an appointment or not. Today I had an appointment at 8:00AM, which is when they open. I was the first customer of the day. I wasn't able to pay and leave until 1:30PM. I very clearly expressed my dissatisfaction with the amount of time I was at their store, and the clerk didn't even apologize. The only thing he said was that it was unfortunate that they had to go the next town over to get one of the parts. There are three Tire Discounters locations in the next town over, the farthest of which is a 37 minute drive from this location, according to Google Maps. Something just doesn't add up here. At the most it should take 1:14, or even 1:30 to account for extra traffic. That, added to the 2 hours he assured me it would take to do the necessary work, is nowhere close to five and a half hours. I was the first customer in the door; in fact I had to wait until they unlocked the door for me. Mine was the first car in the garage, so I know no extra time can be attributed to people ahead of me waiting on the lift or anything like that. I'll reiterate that things happen, and one bad or lengthy experience should not be the sole factor for determining the level of customer service. But this experience is typical here. I'm always paying more than what I planned on, and I'm always waiting several hours more than what I expect or what they tell me I will. I will not be returning to this location in the future. Due to the inconvenience of using another location, I will not be using Tire Discounters at all. I'm lucky enough to have a job where I can make up my lost time with no consequences, but that can't be said for most people. I highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs. read more

I had a 4:00 pm appt on Friday to add 2 front tires for my Toyota Corrala. I was told if I made an appt I would be in and out in 45 mins to an hour. If I dropped in it could take hours. I took an hour off work came in and waited 2.5 hours, afterward they told me if I needed alignment it would cost an extra $100. I asked about free alignment as I bought 3 tires total in less than 45 days. He went on to say"I'll give you a discount" I checked Google and it says free alignment with purschase of tires. Did not say 4 tires it said tires. I am unhappy with service. Left work early. Waited for much longer time. Had made a specific appt the day earlier. Won't buy or come to this location. Went to tire Discounters on Monday ordered 4 tires and an alignment scheduled for wed at 3:30 pm it took then 3 and 1/2 hours because they had to go buy 1 of the tires after working all day who wants to wait because no one got their tires for a scheduled appt. we drove 90 miles to get tires at the store in richmond ky....we walked to the shops while they put 4 new tires on my van at a cost of $695. we left richmond and went to lexington to exit 108 to shop at Costco. We stayed in the store about 2 hours and when we drove out of the parking lot my husband said, "I think we have a flat" I thought he was joking but he said, "No really." so I get out and sure enough our new tire is flat. We call tire discounter because it was 27 degrees out and they told us to air it up and come on back to the store. We drove back to Costco and they aired it up for free and we made it back to tire discounters in Richmond. After 2 hours they fixed the valve stem and we left the store around 7:30 p.m. we went to eat and then stopped at speedway to get gas. My husband said I think this back tire is low so he checked it and it only had 26 lbs of pressure ...so we paid the $1 and aired it up....we drove the 90 miles to Barbourville and he said he was gonna check the tires before going to bed because I need the van tomorrow. He goes out and checks the tires it is 18 degrees and midnight., He has to be up at 5:30 and guess what all three of the other tires (front driver , both back tires) are leaking around the valve stem...Would it have killed you to have sprayed a little water around them to check them before returning the van to me.....I will now have to go get a competent tire guy to fix them but I did buy the ones that have a 45 day refund policy so I may see you in the near future.....In closing I don't know if you store is understaffed or your employees are incompetent but you definitely have problems at this store. On our way back from vacation, my husband and I blew a tire. After taking a look, we realized that the next one was ready to go as well. We called the closest tire shops to us and none of them could get us in. This store was 71 miles away from us, I called anyway. The gentleman I spoke to when I called sounded genuinely concerned when I explained the situation, told us to drive safely and that he would take us as soon as we got here. He also gave us directions on how to get to this location. I couldn't remember his name, but as soon as we walked in, he knew exactly who we were and took care of us immediately. Everyone at this location is very friendly and make you feel like you're a family member or close friend rather than just another customer. I would recommend this location to everyone out this way.
