A hole in the wall auto repair joint, Athens auto is not your dealerships repair center. The place is just out Richmond rd, about a 15 min drove outside Lexington. When you get To Athens you can't miss the place. ( the town is 2 blocks long) There are cars parked every which way to fit into their lot and there is usually someone outside smoking a cigarette. If your looking to have a nice sit down in a waiting area, Perhaps a cup of coffee , the daily talk show on the TV or perhaps CNN this place isn't for you. There are usually quite a Few gentlemen hanging around the "waiting area" and they will usually offer you a chair , and you reading choice is a phone book, From 1999. If you are lucky the radio may even be on! All this, in my opinion, adds to the place ;) We usually just drop or cars off for repairs and the few times I have waited I had several children with me so we hung Out in a church parking lot across the street which was probably better than sitting even in the nicest waiting room. Very honest! I would have believed them if they called and said I needed new brakes and rotors, but it turns out mine just had some buildup and something else minor causing them to squeak. I appreciate the honesty and not being taken advantage of as I'm a female that knows next to nothing about cars. I highly recommend them!!! read more

I dialed the number after a crazy work day and my car dying and Cotton immediately made me laugh, lowered my blood pressure and put me at ease. That's excellent customer service. Then, he got to my SUV in a timely manner, explained everything they were doing and charged me more than a fair price. This place was such a blessing - car overheated on the side of the freeway with our 2 kids in the back. We were driving from TN back home to WI with a long trip still ahead of us. Thank God we found this place and decided to call. They got a tow to us quickly and then fixed the water pump issue we had within only a couple hours. Cotton and Charlie are some wonderful guys I had an a/c problem coming from Florida trying to escape hurricane Irma. Not only did they fix my a/c they made me feel at home they didn't even charge me. They told me iv been thru a lot and to consider it a blessing. Iv never met such honest and kind hearted mechanics. They even invited me and the family to their drag racing event we had a blast! I won't take my vehicles anywhere else. These are the most honest, most reasonably priced mechanics I've ever used. They're also really nice people! My only complaint is they make it really hard for a guy to get a new truck when they keep the old one running so well. read more

These guys were awesome here! I was driving from South Carolina to North Dakota when I got an ABS /brake light. Called them and they said come on over. Got there they quickly found my problem - the rear differential was empty and it locked up. They found parts and had me in my way in a very reasonable amount of time and gave me such a good price. I heard good things about this shop, but it was far from the truth. When I arrived I told them what was wrong with the car, so all they had to do was diagnose whether a new part was needed or the old one had just fallen off. This couldn't have taken more than 20 min or so, but they kept my car for over 2 weeks and still hadn't fixed it. The last time I called them he said they had the part but he hadn't had time to get to it yet. I'm sorry, but if a car has been at your shop for 2 weeks it should be in the front of any car you have got since then. Not only did they keep it for over 2 weeks, but I also don't think they know how to use a telephone. I had to call them several times just to see what was going on. The only time they took it upon themselves to call me is when it was finished, which, under normal circumstances, is ok, but not when the car has been there that long. So, to top it all off they charged me $100 more for the part than what I could have got it for at the local parts store. Never in a million years should a service center charge more for a part than what the customer can get it for at a local parts store. At the worst it should have been the same price. This was a ridiculous experience, and my worst out of all the shops I have been to. Very unprofessional and not at all customer service oriented. I will NEVER take any car there again. read more
