I had a very disappointing experience at Tire Choice. First, the appointment system feels misleading. I scheduled a time in advance and showed up as expected, but was still left waiting while walk-in customers who arrived before me were taken ahead of me. It really makes you question the point of setting an appointment if it doesn't actually secure your place in line. What made the experience worse was how I was treated after ordering my tires through Amazon. It felt very clear that customers paying the higher in-store installation price were given priority, while those of us who booked through Amazon were treated like we mattered less. That kind of treatment is frustrating and unprofessional. On top of that, the manager's behavior came across as disrespectful and discriminatory, which made the entire experience even more uncomfortable. No customer should feel that way when they're simply trying to get a service they scheduled in advance. Overall, between the lack of clarity around appointments, the apparent prioritization of certain customers, and the way I was treated, I would not recommend this location. read more

Literally just left Tire Choice Auto Services feeling safer and a big smile on my face. Had to head to Albany and my tire pressure light came on while I was exiting the freeway. My Honda always makes me a little uneasy when the light comes on because some times there's a nail but some times it's just adjusting. Did a quick search in Yelp and my lovely Yelpers seemed to direct me to Tire Choice. Called ahead and talked to Greg who told me to come on by and they'd add air and check it out. Went in and met Greg who instructed Victor to fill my tires with air. He checked the tires and said everything was good. Didn't charge me anything for it. These are some honest, good people here. Very strange I made an appointment. I came down on my lunch break. The guy sitting behind the counter said I wasn't in the system. Then he said I don't know who you talk to. That was the call center, even though I called the number on this Google ad. So if you call this number, you're going to basically get routed to somebody who they don't even care about good luck. read more

I had my van towed to Tire Choice after calling ahead and confirming they could remove my seized lug nuts and install my spare tire if I brought my own replacement nuts. I was expecting a quick and cheap job. Once I arrived, they refused to perform the work they had agreed to and instead tried to pressure me into buying a full set of tires. When I declined and asked to ship a set of tires from online to them, they became quite upset and told me I couldn't leave my van on their property, yelling "get that van the hell out of here if he's not going to buy any tires!" They refused to simply replace the lug nuts unless I bought a tire from them, warning that removing the lug nuts might break a stud, which would be "on me," and that they weren't willing to risk their equipment. They ended up charging me $150 in labor to replace a single tire, claiming that the rounded nuts had ruined two of their sockets that they stated cost $30 each. I had no choice but to do what they said, or else spend money towing to another shop. I left feeling misled, cornered, and taken advantage of while in a vulnerable spot. I have used this business for a long time for A/C repair, tire chamber and caster aligned, new tires purchases and most recently repairing a flat tire. I called them and thought I was getting an appt. for 5:30 PM last Friday night. When I arrived they could not accommodate me (they close at 6:00 PM). Due to confusion starting with their scheduling group I was disappointed but they let me leave my car overnight in their shop. I got a call at 9:00 am on Saturday that my car tire was repaired and the car was ready for pickup. When I came to pick up my car, Victor, the service attendant, said no charge! I was referred here by my tire warranty after I blew a tire hitting a pothole. It was a horrific experience. I arrive to no one at the counter. After about 10 minutes I knocked on the service bay door to get some help. Downhill from there. The guy at the desk told me I would have to replace all tires. Not unexpected, and I had already cleared with the warranty that they would cover one of the tires. They just asked that the service center call them. Well, after the kid at the desk told me, without much comprehension, that the warranty didn't apply, despite my clearing that with them first, I asked for the manager. I waited and waited. When he finally arrived he was gruff, dismissive, and belligerent. He treated me like I was an idiot, angrily telling me that I needed to replace all 4 tires (which I knew already) and insisting that the warranty was for a single tire, not all four. When I tried explaining that it would cover the impacted tire and I paid the rest, he didn't even let me finish. What's more, when I said he should call the warranty provider as they requested, he cut me off, saying, "I'm not calling anyone!" I told him I would take my business elsewhere and he told me to get lost and get out. It was a terrible experience that I hope never to repeat. read more

I'm writing this during the heavy rainstorms we've been having in the Bay. I just got off an 8hr shift at work that requires me to be outside, walked out to my little Volkswagen Beetle, and found my rear left tire flat due to a wall bolt. I was already a bit tired and nervous driving in this car during the heavy rain. I drove slowly and carefully as to not mess up my rim too bad and went here to Tire Choice. Mr. Greg Allen and his mechanic (I'm sorry I didn't catch your name!) helped me immediately even though it's Sunday and an hour before close. They were both incredibly nice and we laughed a bit - great, comfortable service. They told me not to worry about any charges, and I was out of there in 20min. Thank y'all so much for your help! They installed tires that I purchased through Tires Easy. It was fairly seamless, but the Tire Choice center left both passenger and driver seats dirty. I don't know if this is grease and if it can even be cleaned off my seats. I'm disappointed about the time it will take to try and clean them and potential permanent damage to my seats. Today, we stopped by for a low-pressure warning sign for front passenger tire and the team at TireChoice was incredible helpful. The tech person said there was nothing he could not fixed and he was ready to take care of it right there on the spot. I had to run an errand so I said I'd be back in an hour. An hour later I was back and my car was fixed as promised. Everyone was friendly, professional and most of all honest and didn't try to upsell anything. This is something that I find extremely valuable because it is not always easy to find an auto-shop you can trust. Checked out the air pressure all around. Located the nail in the tire and filled it up. Assured me I would be ok for a couple of days and made an appointment so I could come in and have it patched when I had time. The other day I found a nail in my car's tire. My husband recommended that I go to Tire Choice in Albany. He said he had a great experience with them so I drove straight there. I spoke with the assistant manager, Kevin Benavides, who said he would take care of it. I asked him how much would the repair be and he said that it wouldn't take long and there is no charge. Where can you go these days when someone tells you that there is no charge for their service? He was such a nice guy. He said that he would call me when my tire was ready which he did. Greg was absolutely amazing! No one wants to get into their car on a Sunday afternoon; while running errands, and see "low tire pressure" light come on. I have a whole week of errands, school and afterschool activities drop off and I did not want to start my week with a flat tire. Lucky me, while searching on both Google and Yelp, I came across Greg's shop and called to see if I could swing by. Not only was I able to swing by and have it checked out, Greg and his team was able to patch the tire up in such an amazing timeframe that I was still able to go home and hang out with my family. This morning I walked into TireChoice with a problem tire on my Mini. It was losing air and had a screw in the tire. They were short handed but said if I could wait an hour, they could fix the tire. I've been there twice, but never again. In addition to grumpy service in general, after my latest visit an item was missing from my car--specifically, an electronic pump that comes standard with my Hyundai Kona (which I had used for a temporary fix on a flat tire). It's an expensive item, over $400 according to my local Hyundai dealer. It was in the trunk storage when I dropped the car off for tire replacement about one month ago, and I just discovered today that it's now missing. I'm not accusing them of theft, but at a minimum they misplaced the item while they were searching for my tire locks in the trunk. I called today and the manager was very dismissive and refused to help in any way (looking around the shop, asking his staff about it, etc.). I think this shop can do basic tire work OK, but as you can tell from my review and some of the others, it can be risky to rely on them, and you shouldn't expect to be treated with any politeness or respect. UPDATE: The auto replies from the parent company in response to negative Yelp ratings are a joke. Dissatisfied customers have two options: (1) wait on interminable hold and then get disconnected; (2) indicate you want a call back, which does not happen. Great business model, folks--very Kafkaesque!. On the tiny chance you actually want to make this right, I paid $81.56 for a replacement tire pump via eBay. You could cut me a check for that amount. read more

Today was my fourth time at Tire Choice. I seem to attract nails in tires, the latest from I-880 in Newark. The car I was driving was a rental so I had to chose whether to deal with the leak or fake it when I return it. This morning the tire was down to the rim so off it went to Tire Choice expecting to pay. I made it a point that it was a rental so I was expecting to pay. Nope. Anyway this is the third time like this. Of course the time I had to pay I had to replace all the tires as the number of fixes on one tire exceeded the safety standard, and being AWD, it is all or nothing when replacing tires on a Subaru after 7 years of use. The thing is Albany is full of auto places and I chose this place as I can park my car without getting a ticket, they have tires on site, and tires are their specialty. At first he seemed so friendly and accommodating that he started giving shady vibes (sorry but that was my first impression!), but we ended up with great, quick service. It was Father's Day weekend, and we were on our way out of town, saw a low pressure warning on one of our tires, eager to keep going, so found the first open tire store. We rolled right in, they found a nail in our tire, patched it up, and sent us on our way in about 30 minutes. No upsell trying to get us to buy new tires. Since then, we've run our car around town, out to highway 1, up all the way to Yosemite and back and the repair has held up. I came here for an oil change thanks to a Groupon, but unfortunately, I had gotten the wrong one for my vehicle! Luckily, they were very accommodating and helped me get my oil changed anyway, as well as rotating my tires and giving the car once over. I really appreciated that there was no hard sell on anything, just good information that I could act on in regard to future servicing. As a woman who likes to work on my own car, being treated with respect by mechanics is a big deal, and one that I don't take for granted.
