The food here is simply the best. This place has been around forever, and if you have stopped in even once, you'll know why. We visited from out of town and wanted to get a quick treat. And we've stopped in almost every since! I first tried the cherry dip cone served with a side of crunch. Nostalgic bliss. My hubby had a shake and loved it. Creamy and delicious.. We stopped back in for Cyclones last night.. thick and loaded with ingredients. Today was my favorite.. amazing rootbeer float. The large was the perfect size to accomodate the incredible chili cheese coney and onion rings. The Nathan's hot dog was a fabulous choice, and the chili was lovely. Thick, sweet, and just spicy enough. Perfectly seasoned. We can't wait for vacation again next year! read more

This is a must for young and old locals or Tourists!!!! Best ice cream shop ever. (Soft serve.) but whatever younger local kids mainly work there. But always so happy to see you weather its weekly or first time ever. But the ice cream deserts are delicious and the food is okay. (I'm more of an ice cream lover myself.) but they are quick and polite about giving you, your order. Sometimes it can be a bit of wait cause how busy and popular they are. But big on there local community. With thank you cards/ letters on the wall. News paper clippings and high school kids with their prom pictures. read more

This was a cute local ice cream parlor. We drove by it a few times while up at a cabin in Long Prairie. I believe they only serve soft serve ice cream. I got a dipped cotton candy cone w/ vanilla ice cream. It was hot & humid the day we went. As soon as I broke the cotton candy shell the ice cream was melting like crazy and became a mess so I unfortunately had to throw it away after only a few bites. Prices were decent & the line was long but moved pretty fast. If I'm ever in the area again I would go back. read more

Amazing place! Loved it! Great ice cream, nice employees, good prices. Stop here for a cone, you won't regret it.

Great selection, great prices, very popular. Parking can be challenging and staff seemed frazzled if not cranky. It was still a great visit and would 100% visit again. read more

Always a line is a good sign. Lots of workers hustling, and the sweetest treats Osakis has to offer. Only reason for the mid rating is everything seems hit or miss occasionally. Depends on who's working what service and consistency looks like. A great summer destination regardless! read more

Best ice cream around! There is a reason that there is always a line. The staff works hard and provides great service.

A family staple. Always need to stop on the way in or out of Osakis. The ice cream is amazing and the food is great! Recommend to everyone, the staff/service are quick & give you that family owned vibe. read more

This was my third time here. Work brings me to Osakis every 3 months. This business is seasonal (late spring through summer). I've had: corn fritters which are yummy. I did ask if burgers were frozen and reply was no. Frozen Sysco patties are the worst, lazy attempt at some restaurants/bars. I had a cheeseburger with tomato and lettuce and fries. These are small, not your half pound burgers. Good and satisfying. They also have Dole Whip. The flavor today was original pineapple. So refreshing on a hot day. I ate by my lonely self outside. I used the bathroom and noticed there was indoor seating. There are other ice cream delights but haven't tried yet. Support Small Business and the locals. read more

One of the most aggravating things about using a GPS on your phone is deciding which one to use... Apple Maps. Google Maps Waze... We vow after a wrong turn to use only the most reliable app out there. If you consider that your basis for judging which app to choose for directions on a long trip across MN, may I offer a friendly suggestion? Choose the worst app of them all. Choose the app that is the least reliable, the app that will take you far out of your way because that just might be the only way you'll stumble on this hidden gem. Choose Apple Maps... This spot makes me wanna get lost all the time!! It reminds me of what you would expect the original Dairy Queen to be like, but somehow it's still so much better... read more

The food tastes pretty good. If your going to come here at all, you have to get some ice cream. Service is quick, kind, and the end result will have you coming back every day. The interior is very small, but comfy. They have lots of outside seating as well. I recommend this place. read more

Over the years, we've made Tip Top Dairy Bar a regular ice cream stop on our way to the cabin. Highly recommend stopping for ice cream. It's amazing! Most recently, we decided to stop and order lunch. It was BAD. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger, super simple. The bacon was so thick, fatty and undercooked that you could not even bite through it so I had to take it off the burger. When I took it off the burger, the meat really was able to shine and that wasn't a good thing. It was under seasoned and completely dry. The fries we soggy and tasted like they had been sitting in the warmer for far too long even though they were busy and should've been cycling through them. I'll be back, but only for the ice cream. read more

Small town soft serve at its best! The only place to go if you are in Osakis and certainly worth the one mile trek off interstate 94 if you are driving by. Cyclones are akin to "blizzards" at DQ, but the toppings are of better quality and more bountiful at Tip Top. Frozen bananas are covered in chocolate and a steal at $1. Burgers are made to order, sloppy joes and fried delights are available and good but the soft serve is king. We love this place and come on most days to satisfy our summertime cravings when at the lake. Come support a great local business. read more

Tip Top Dairy Bar - Only in Osakis. - Fast Food Near Me - Osakis, Minnesota

Well call me a fool, but I do love a local ice cream place. We did not eat food here. But we ate the ice cream. And then we came back a second time. Because yup. Ice cream. OK, so everything about this place screams local ice cream place that has been here since the beginning of time. I thoroughly enjoyed he cute little sign on the top of the building and the signage on the side of the building advertising proudly that it has been there since 1955. It's everything you want in a local ice cream place, from the walk up window to the simple but efficient menu board. I ordered a chocolate dipped cone, which is one of my all-time favorite ice cream treats and it definitely delivered. The ice cream was perfectly twisted onto the cone in a completely straight swirl. The chocolate was expertly dipped, right down to the top of the cone, covering every inch of the cone with thick delicious chocolate. And when it was handed to me, the chocolate was still a little soft, which is just so enjoyable in the summer. Then our friends told us about the ice cream sandwiches here. This is not an average ice cream sandwich. This is a thick layer of creamy vanilla ice cream wedged between two very large homemade chocolate chip cookies, which were delicious all by themselves. The thing is monstrous (of course I still ate the whole thing). And at $2.50 it's a steal. My only complaint honestly is that the people were not super friendly. When I asked the woman behind the window if they had bottled water, she looked at me like I was an idiot and just said no. She didn't offer me a cup of water or even try to sell me another beverage. Fine. Take my money and give me another ice cream sandwich. read more

A slice of Americana, the Tip Top Dairy Bar will put you back into 1955, when the Bar opened. You can order inside or outside. They have a nice selection of burgers, fries, sides, fried shrimp, ice cream cones, sundaes, Cyclones, and more. The soft serve ice cream was delicious, with plenty of mix-ins. The Cowboy Bites are wonderful little morsels of fried corn, cheese, jalapenos, and bacon. The eating area is quite small. This is a nice little place to enjoy an afternoon summer treat. They also serve 1919 Root Beer or Root Beer floats. Stop in and enjoy their twist cone. It's definitely worth venturing off I-94 for. read more

The chicken strips were extremely over done with no flavor. Previous owners need to come back. #MakeTiptopGreatAgain

Great service and ice cream like no where else. If you are going through Osakis, this is a must stop

Tip Top Dairy Bar - Better than Dairy Queen - Fast Food Near Me - Osakis, Minnesota

The Tip Top has great food and ice cream. It also has Dole Whip, which is a dairy free treat that tastes kind of like sherbet.

I have frequented Tip Top since 1966. It has been a family tradition to stop by every weekend in the summer. Since the ownership has changed in the last couple of years the chocolate has changed and it tastes horrible, like wax. It makes me very sad to end our tradition but it just doesn't taste good anymore. read more

Stopped on way home after a trip up north. Was blown away with the full menu, all of the icecreamand food choices. Had small blended icecream, which were comparable with blizzards. The portions were large and the icecream was awesome! The burger we had was the best we have had. Will definately try to get back. read more

Great, friendly service and the ice cream was wonderful. We will definitely stop again before summer is over.

Great little local ice cream shop with full menu. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which was wonderful! They toasted the bun and I asked for some fresh toppings including grilled onions which were out of this world. My hubs ordered the cheeseburger & said he would order it again. Dessert was great as well. The prices are really good. I think we paid around $8.00 & got an order of fries. If we're ever in the area again we will come here again. read more

Tip Top Dairy Bar - My husband has the small whipped cherry slush & kids vanilla soft serve cone. Yum! - Fast Food Near Me - Osakis, Minnesota

The ice cream was very delicious. My family and I ordered 3 cyclones (flavored turtle, butterfinger, and peanut butter cup) and one twisted dipped cone. Perfect on a hot day after swimming. Service was also great and the wait wasn't long. We will definitely come again! read more

Coolest roadside hole in the wall ever. Really cool small town Americana experience. On the dessert front, The Cyclones (like a blizzard) was a gazillion times better than Dairy Queen, tons of goodies like coconut n nuts. Slurpies tasted so much better than anything we've tried and they had lots of flavor options. The cowboy bites were corn, cheese, bacon and jalapeño fritters and so yummy for a signature appetizer. Burgers were outstanding. Definitely would stop here again on our next road trip. read more

Who gives 5 stars on a first review? Me, when it's this good. My friend and I were going "up north" for the weekend and passed thru Osakis and commented how good it was. I forcefully required a u-turn to get a treat. I had their $4 peanut fudge parfait thing. It's my favorite flavor combo and i might make this my permanent route up north. Oh, and I will never go to a DQ again after this experience. read more

OK, so now this place has my favorite cheeseburger. After a couple hours on the bike trail I suppose most anything would taste good. So we went back in the truck for a second taste. And man it was good. read more

Sea-Bass was rocking the grill, so the food was on point! Had the shrimp burger ... Going for the Zesty next time.

Clearly a local favorite! The burgers were great and had all the free fixings you wanted. I would highly recommend the zesty sauce. Sodas for a dollar, fries for a dollar, what else could you ever want! read more

This little family business has the best ice cream in central Minnesota. The sevice is very friendly. The Cowboy Up burger basket is one of my favorites and reasonably priced. Only downside is they are seasonal only. read more

The food is okay, nothing to brag about. Inside dining area is more like a joke then anything else. But the small town feel and the service is great! Almost like going back in to a simpler time kinda thing. Their ice cream desserts are great. They have one called "the cyclone." Like the DQ blizzard." read more
