Tio Pepe's Restaurante serves up charm with a smile, but not much else you'll want seconds of. The margaritas taste like regret, and the tilapia tacos are as uninspired as they sound. That said, the service is genuinely warm, and the patio is a lovely spot to waste time--just maybe stick to chips and pizza. read more

This is our last day after a week in Los Barriles, and we wanted to end with a fried chicken dinner (we had not found chicken anywhere else during the week). On balance, the fried chicken was very good, considering it was over-battered and slightly overcooked. This is not a complaint, the meal was delicious. The portions were huge! (2 legs, 2 thighs, 1 breast, for 180 pesos - $9.00 US), is s great price. With a baked potato, onion rings, coleslaw, 2 gin'n'tonics, and 2 beers... the whole meal was only $25.00 for 2 people! Came here because I read that they have several vegan options ! Which they do ! And my husband wanted a pepperoni pizza. Win, win for both of us. I went with the beyond burger and fries. Just make sure to ask for no cheese because the cheese is not vegan cheese. The fries were perfectly seasoned and the burger was delicious. I've been in Mexico for a month so it was nice to have a vegan burger... I'm taco'd out at this point. My husband enjoyed his large pizza. And even has a few slices left over for tomorrow. He said it was better than other places he's tried. I also ordered a House margarita which was delicious as they've all been in Mexico. And my husband ordered a beer. Both decently priced. The service was excellent and they even mentioned the pizza would take at least 20 min, which we were fine with. It actually took a little longer than that, so they gave us the chips, pico and guac on the house. We were starving so we really appreciated that while waiting. This is one of my favorites because they have such a huge variety of food. It's clean and the staff is friendly.

The best pizza in the east cape. Lots of different toppings -- this is doughy with a crisp crust California style pizza. Cool pirate themed decorations with American and Mexican food. Order the beers by the bucket. They brought a free ice cream Sunday to a buddy who was celebrating his bday and sang to him as well. Lucky Tip: the belt buster is no longer on the menu but the have a small and large porterhouse steak that is amazing. Step up if you dare. It's largely a covered patio restaurant. They have a bar and TV's but sit out on the patio and enjoy a great meal with friends. Party of 8 beer drinkers and steaks averaged about 30 dollars a person. read more

Tio Pablo's has been fine in the past. Not great but fine. Tonight- not even fine. My husband had the fish and chips. It was soggy and smelled. It was totally not edible. He had rice with the meal. Even the rice smelled fishy. The chicken wings was supposed to have carrots and celery. We got fries instead. The mango margaritas-mine was good. My husbands was luke warm and in a smaller glass. We measured and it actually held less. The T-bone steak was supposed to be medium rare-instead it was well done. The veggies were burned on the bottom side. Fun decor, my GF and I almost had the place to ourselves...should've been a red flag. Wholly average overall, we ordered a chorizo pizza and a pepperoni pizza with mushrooms, they used canned mushrooms (maybe a Mexico thing?). Can you say FAKE CHEESE??? Tio Pablos's pizza it's the worst pizza we've ever had. The number 1 ingredient of the cheese they use is definitely not cows milk. It's the most fake tasting cheese, they couldn't even use a high quality imitation mozzarella cheese. They also don't know how to property make and bake pizza dough, ours was partially raw in the middle and not yo mention the canned mushrooms were tough and chewy- the sauce had no flavor, so they give you ranch dressing dipping sauce to compensate for the lack of flavor of their awful pizza. Honestly frozen pizzas are better than Tio Pablos...So if you're hungry for pizza in Los Barriles, go somewhere else! read more

Tio Pablos could be best described as a Mexican Denny's. Food was ok but just ok. Sort of sterile boring atmosphere. Portions are large but lacking authentic flavours of a good Mexican restaurant. Several better restaurants in Las Barriles that are authentic, better atmosphere and better value. 3 stars is generous. read more

So I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews here. My husband and I are from Eugene and we absolutely love coming here to eat and drink. They have the best happy hour $2.50 margaritas from three until six. And they have fried chicken specials with lobster specials and their prime rib special on Sunday is absolutely amazing I am a very picky eater and I am surprised at the reviews of this low it is an amazing place must go !! read more

With all the wonderful restaurants in town, why would you waste your time and money here? We found this place to be boring and well boring. The food was fine nothing special, same with the margaritas. For great restaurants and VERY reasonable prices check out Piscis (next to Chapitos) and most defiantly Cafe Maria (located up the street across from La Casita). You'll be glad you did !
