Normally in America, Afternoon Tea is never filling enough. But Tiny Tim's Afternoon Tea pleasantly stuffed me full of food and calories. It just could've used a few more sweets...quite lovely otherwise! £26/$35 Afternoon Tea Service (+£3 with prosecco)...Lovely! Almost perfect, it's a more savory than sweet Afternoon Tea. Top level: A collection of Tiny Tim's cakes and desserts...a nice delectable and decadent tasting set of cakes and desserts, but we didn't get anything chocolate related, and it could've used a 2-3 extra pieces of sweet things. Mid Level: The very BEST scones on the island of Britain! Warm, rich, thick, soft, buttery...we got a cheddar scone, and a blueberry scone, both were divine! We stopped in for an early tea/late lunch. We were immediately sat and our server was a sweet attentive dark haired girl. The tea room had a light airy casual feel, that relaxed us. The tea selection was large, my dining companion had Darjeeling tea and I had a lovely apple herbal tea. I ordered a huffkin, which I learned was a Kent sandwich. The bread was exceptionally light and the warm goat cheese and bacon jam paired well together. My companion ordered the rarebit and it was two large pieces of mustardy cheese goodness. We originally came for the scones. The scones are anything but tiny!!! The raisin scones were very light but I could not finish it, they are meant to be shared. Came to this classic tearoom for the Afternoon Tea. Our Bulldog was allowed in the charming courtyard - to make sure we get a table we made a reservation a few days before. The tearoom is very nice, classic and comfy setting. The courtyard is nice and green. A lovely oasis in a busy town. Ordered Classic Afternoon Tea for two. Lovely Kentish tea they got here. A lot to choose from. Cakes and sweets were fantastic. A lovely, handmade selection. The scones were amazing. Nothing like the store-bought, mass-produced stuff you get in your shops. The sandwiches were divine as well. Generous amount of cucumber, chicken, salmon and more. I'm usually not a big fan of the cucumber sandwich, but they made them so well here. Really enjoyed them. And the chicken curry is brillant. Staff/owner was wonderful. Friendly, helpful folks. Really felt welcome here. Prices are fair as well. A really great tearoom. Has an interesting story as well. Atmosphere - 2* (by the front door) Food - 4* Service - 1* Hubby and I stopped at Tiny Tim's for Afternoon Tea after visiting the Cathedral. We saw how charming the tearoom was online, but was disappointed of being seating right at the front door and missed the charm. It was not until I went upstairs to the toilet that I was able to see the charm and atmosphere of the tearoom. We enjoyed the tea, sandwiches, scones, and desserts, but the service was lackadaisical. We were able to tell when regulars came through the door because the staff became friendlier towards them. The finger sandwiches and scones were the best bites of the tea service. Tiny Tim's is a great little tea room in Canterbury. It's just off the High Street and just a short walk from the Cathedral. I ordered the Gentleman's Tea, which comes with a cheese scone, Spitfire rarebit on toast, ginger cake, and an ale. In short, it was delicious (and considerably more than one person should have in one sitting, though that didn't stop me). The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Lovely in here. Called in for a cake & a cuppa at behest of accompanying children. They chose enormous slices of cake that they couldn't finish so I had to give them a hand! We had toasted tea cake and scone (a first) & decaf tea. Haunted as well & the Gents' toilet has a fire escape in the form if a trap door. Will defo be going back for a full monty high tea with a cuppa not vino though. Called back for high/afternoon tea today. Really nice. High tea included poached egg on crumpets followed by scone and four 'petits fours' & pot of tea. Afternoon tea was similar but included sandwiches - ham, cucumber, egg & cress & smoked salmon. Very nice indeed. A bit pricey but if you want a treat - well worth it. Every town, city or indeed village should have one! read more

Took my mum here for mothers day and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Very nice setting and very nice tea and cakes! We had a little bit of a wait for a seat, as the place is TINY but once we were sat we were not rushed and we had a nice view of the small courtyard from where we were sat. The staff were friendly and helpful as much as they could despite the business. The place is a little pricey however for the quality of the snacks we had, I would say it was worth it. 5 for the Afternoon Tea 2 for the Service A companion and I decided on Tiny Tims as we both wanted scones and tea, and even though it was priced much higher than other places, we thought an accredited afternoon tea spot would be the best choice. I opted for the Afternoon Tea (15 GBP) while my companion had the High Tea (15 GBP). During peak times there is a wait for seating, but we were seated within 10 minutes of arrival on the main floor. There appears to also be additional seating upstairs, but as neither of us felt the need to visit the ghost children we did not go up to see how cramped it was. The main floor itself has about 6-7 tables that accommodates 1-4, but you are in pretty close quarters with your neighbors. As my friend and I were leaving, a couple with their stroller and baby had trouble maneuvering around other patrons and tables to get to their table which was behind us. I ended up just pushing my chair and our table out of their way to make it easier for the dad as it looked like the hostess was literally going to just stand and watch the parents struggle. There also seemed to be seating outside in the back but I'm not sure if you have to request to be seated out there. Granted it was a cloudy day, but I only saw one couple go out to the back with a waitress. Service at Tiny Tims is hot and cold. We were greeted warmly by the hostess, but got the glare of death from the same hostess as she was ringing us up because we wanted to pay separately. Apparently it was too difficult for her to simply subtract 15 from the total on her register? I always make it a rule to tip something even if the service wasn't great, but my companion was so put off by the hostess' bad attitude that she decided on the spot that they didn't deserve anything. The waitstaff were also equally wishy-washy. They bent over backwards for some patrons, but others they were downright rude to. Granted the building is old (1600s) but it has been remodeled and the kitchens should have been moved to the main floor. Instead the kitchens are upstairs and the staff have to constantly run up and down. The stairs aren't that wide and at one point a waitress was coming down while customers were going up. Not sure what the customers said, but I heard the waitress say something to the approximation of "You're the one in the way". The tea was good. I got a rose something or other and it tasted like any black tea with a rose hint at the very last dregs of the cup. The Afternoon Tea sandwiches were tasty; you get 4 pieces (salmon, cucumber, egg, and watercress?). You get one LARGE plain scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Very moist, fresh and satisfying. There are 3 mini desserts (a cookie, dark chocolate cake, lemon bar). I didn't particularly care for the desserts and only ate the cookie; the chocolate was too bitter for me and the lemon bar too sour. For High Tea, instead of the sandwiches you get the equivalent of a pancake with eggs on top, but everything else is the same. If I'm ever back in Canterbury again I'd probably get the scones as a take away, but likely won't dine in as the service isn't worth paying for. The people of Kent, however, are for the most part very nice. read more

We stopped here today because we love the apparent charm of this restaurant. However when my husband needed to send back the cake he ordered, boy, did we get grief from the staff. I was so surprised they wanted to argue over a piece of cake being returned when he thought it was soggy and sour tasting. They left it on the bill and charged for the replacement scone as well. This lead to more grief at the cash register which got sorted out. We just went there for tea and sandwiches on a beautiful day. Don't need any more of 'their customer can't be right' attitude. read more
