Had lunch here with friends and everyone enjoyed their meals quite a bit. The lunch special which includes a drink, app, and main for just over $9 is a solid deal. My favorite dish was the massaman curry, and the broth was so delicious that we slurped it all up afterwards. The pad Thai was solid as was the drunken noodle, which has a late hitting spice to it. The spring rolls were super crunchy and surprisingly delicious. My favorite app though was the Moo ping pork on a stick and if I had known the app only came with one I would have ordered a whole side of them. The gyoza was pretty tasty too. In general, from what I've heard from others, this a typical experience here but food quality is not always consistent across the menu so you need to find your favorite menu item and stick with it here. The interior of the place is nice and welcoming. The food came out super fast. Overall, this is the type of solid Thai place where you can come for great value with good flavor and I would definitely come back. read more

Tiny Thai is a classic of the area. I only get to go back a couple of times a year now that I live in nyc so when I go I get all my faves. Let's begin with just some of the perks. Good waitstaff and a nice clean space. They also have such a cheap lunch special. $9.18 for an appetizer, salad and main course. I got the soup of the day. Don't remember what it's called but it was spicy, clear cellophane noodles, spinach, ground pork, bean sprouts and some other good stuff. Then ordered TWO orders of the moo ping. Best grilled pork on a stick I've ever encountered. Rounded it out with the super spicy lap gai salad. They also do good curries, fried rice and pad thai. Always interesting specials which are different daily. They also have a special part of the menu that is more traditional Thai dishes. Haven't tried them yet but they look very cool!!! read more

I'm assuming the name Tiny Thai refers to the limited spacing in this restaurant because it was packed for dinner. I really enjoyed my meal here and dare I say, it was the best Asian food I've experienced in the Burlington area thus far. We had a relatively large party, but got seated earlier than the half hour estimated wait time. I've also never seen a BYOB restaurant, so it was cool to see all the wine and beers that people brought. Something to keep in mind the next time I eat here. The menu included all the classic Thai dishes including a number of appetizers such as chicken satay. The roti with curry caught my eye as an inexpensive appetizer. Roti prata is something that I first tried at a Singaporean/Malaysian restaurant in San Francisco and I've been looking for it since on a menu. It's very reminiscent of green onion pancakes from my childhood. The roti came with a bowl of flavorful coconut yellow curry (more Thai style than Indian). The pile of small pizza-shaped roti was crispy and thin, rather than thick and doughy, which actually worked well when dipped with the curry. The curry, which had chicken and vegetables, was more than enough and could go great with rice. In fact, I liked it so much that I ordered Thai fried rice with the trademark basil. It had the perfect amount of spiciness and the rest of the curry was a great accompaniment. My only complaint was that the rice was a bit wet, but the prominent Thai flavors and other components made me soon forget about that small error. I had enough to take home and was even pleasantly surprised with the durable and reusable tupperware that was given as takeout boxes. From top to bottom Tiny Thai is a great find in Winooski. I even saw that they had a lunch special with drink and appetizer for $8. I definitely see myself as a frequent patron here for the next few years. read more

Tiny Thai is a great place to go for lunch. Perfect portions and lots of combinations to choose from. The service is fast but sometime there can be a wait. The lunch trio is affordable and gives you an option for an appetizer, a main dish, a side salad, and a drink. I got a chicken Tom Yum soup, Pad Si Ew, and a homemade ginger iced tea. Their ginger ice tea is REALLY gingery, beware! I love ginger, so that was not an issue for me. Their dinner portion are larger, lunch portion are just perfect for the lunch time. Great little Thai spot in Burlington. We went on a Friday night and it was really busy... they seemed to be doing a good takeout business too. Nothing fancy here. There were 5 of us and were seated quickly at one their large tables because mostly everyone waiting were in groups of 2 and 4 guests. We had the Papaya salad, 1 order of fried rice, 2 orders of chicken Pad Thai, and 1 order of tofu Pad Thai. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was prepared well. The Papaya salad was the best thing ordered, but the other entrees were also good. Warning: They offer a spice level between 1 and 3. I can take my food pretty spicy and the place I usually go I get a 7 on a scale of 1-10 spice. The waitress kindly warned me that a 3 was really hot. So, I got the 2. Even the 2 was really spicy. I would recommend you start with a 1 and have them bring the spice caddy over to adjust to your liking. read more

This is heavily americanized thai food, that doesn't really cut it when you're addicted to the real thing. When we are really craving thai food, maybe once every 3 months we'll go here, but almost always leave discontented. The sauces are sweetened and simplified for the american palate, and don't really offer the depth you hope for with good thai food. I don't think I've ever gotten a hint of thai fish sauce flavor out of any of the dishes, a sign that they're not pursuing authentic recipes. read more

Our total time here was 1 hour (after waiting 15 minutes for table that was OPEN when we arrived!) AND they forgot one of our entree & we had to wait for that. Someone that ballsy & greedy to push out paying (and regular) customers is outrageous. Last time you'll see me there. Honestly, maybe because I'm from NYC I was expecting something better. Everyone kept saying that this is the best Thai in the Burlington area...and honestly that's really REALLY sad. The proteins were dry and chewy. The Pad Thai was overly sweetened and honestly, really dry. Even the Pad See Eew was bland. We asked for the signature Thai dishes to be spicy, and I think they thought we were kidding, or they thought we were too "American" and made it really mild. Even the chicken larb was awful..it was dry and it didn't have the obligatory toasted rice inside. What a shame. I just can't bring myself to ordering from here again. Came here for Saturday lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. I ordered their lunch special, which came with a choice of drink, appetizer, and entree, all for under $10. I chose the iced jasmine tea, tom yum soup, and my all time favorite: Pad Khee Mao. Of course I can't comment on the authenticity of the food, not being Thai, but I personally found the flavors rich and satisfying. You can definitely taste undertones of the fish sauce in the tom yum soup and the noodles in the Pad Khee Mao were flavorful and just slightly spicy. Would definitely come back again!! read more

I love this little treasure of a place. Someone mentioned that it smelled like cigarettes when you walk in. True, but it never smelled like that once you got past the entry doors. The food and the service were both EXCELLENT and I can;t wait to go back. I have always liked the different things I've ordered, but be warned that everything on the back "authentic Thai" menu is VERY spicy! I also love ordering the specials appetizers, as they are always different and always delicious. Also, they offer great deals for lunch. Best Burlington area Thai, but that's damning it with tiny praise. If you know what to order, you're golden. Otherwise it's hit or miss. Some dishes are truly rapturous, many others prepared lazily. Som Tum Bo Kem is a sure thing, and you'd be lucky to find it anywhere else in this country. Tonight I took a chance on the specials menu. The Khao Man Gai was advertised as cooked in ginger, coconut, and chicken broth; it turned up all breast filet steamed in plain water. Heaped cilantro was meant to hide the fail, but only drew attention to it. The rice was bland, the dip tasted like it was from a jar (whether it was or not)... ...but the accompanying soup was divine. I would gladly pay half of the $16 for the broth if Tiny would sell the rest to someone on a hospital diet. See what I mean?: a hit and a miss on one plate. If you're desperate for *great* Thai, Saap in Randolph VT is second to none (outside Portland OR). They specialise in Isaan, but cook all the classics superbly too. read more

I've always enjoyed my meals at Tiny Thai. The staff is helpful and prompt, the food is excellent and very much needed in sometimes culinarily boring Vermont. I came on a Saturday night so it was a bit crowded but we were seated right away. I ordered the drunken noodles which were very good and got the Thai iced tea to drink, which I didn't like at all. I could only taste milk and no tea. I told the waitress I didn't like it and asked for green tea instead. When the bill came, I was surprised the Thai tea was still charged for. It's just tea so I did not argue about it, but I think it should be common courtesy at a restaurant to take an item off the bill if the customer wasn't satisfied. Especially for tea.
