At first glance, my expectations weren't high -- the greeter, who also turned out to be the waiter, simply said, "Pick any table." Most of the available tables were dirty, and the floor had bits of food scattered around. I eventually found a clean spot toward the back. Service was brisk and a bit rushed. The waiter didn't offer much in the way of friendliness and quickly asked, "What do you want to order?" I went with the green curry. To my surprise, it was flavorful and well-seasoned, though it included sliced potatoes -- something I hadn't seen in curry before, but it worked. As I observed the atmosphere, I realized the waiter was likely having a tough day. Later, his sister showed up to help. When I was checking out, I asked how her day was going. She mentioned she had rushed back to help her brother after dropping off their younger sibling at a game. That moment put the whole experience into perspective: a family working hard, juggling responsibilities, and doing their best under pressure. Taking everything into account -- the effort, the food, and the context -- I'm giving this place an understanding 3.5 stars. Great pho soup but the portions are a bit small for the price. I think everything is quality in terms of the meat and flavor but at most pho places I've been to outside of Vermont, there's always a small, medium, large, and sometimes a extra large. This place is a one size kind of place but charges a large price for a small. I order it occasionally but usually have to go home and add extra noodles and meat myself since it's not worth it otherwise. The other items here are good like their noodle bowls and rice plates which is why I put them a bit higher but usually go to a pho spot for pho. Super nice folks and quick service. I remembered the Pho broth at Pho Dang being really good when I had it two and six years ago, but this time around, it wasn't as flavorful. The brisket and tendon was pretty tender, but the pork chop for the rice plate was on the dry side. The eggrolls were seasoned well and it came with a hoisin sauce with peanuts instead of the typical fish sauce. Is fish sauce a thing in Vermont? The service wasn't very attentive and the servers had to be flagged down. What upsetted me the most was when this girl thought it was okay to be holding two bowls of hot broth with one hovering over my baby's head. I slightly moved the high chair out of the way when I saw her coming over, but when she was putting down one bowl and not paying attention to the other one, I immediately moved her bowl of soup away from my baby's head and she gave me a look like I was crazy. She wasn't standing with the bowl next to my baby, it was legit over his head. I don't think it is EVER okay to be holding hot broth over anyone's head. Come on .... After surprising my bestie by showing up in her state, she recommended we go out to eat at this little Pho place she knows with some of the best food she's had, not far from my hotel we caravanned down from Swanton and parked on the street. The place felt very homey. Our server was very attentive and kept apologizing for what he perceived as not being attentive or quick enough as he was the only person in the front of the house but we thought he was doing fine and we were enjoying ourselves with no rushing. We had their spring rolls, the Goi Cuon Tom Thit (shrimp, pork, lettuce, and noodles wrapped in rice paper) which were good but I really enjoyed my other two items. One was the cans of Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea out of the drink cooler. I've never had it before and it's one of the most refreshing cold teas I've ever had. The other was my meal, the #24 The Bun Xao Tham Cam (stir-fried beef, chicken shrimp, quail eggs, onions, sweet sauce, crushed peanuts). Some definitely put love into their cooking because this was exactly what I needed and it was so good. I bought 2 more of the teas on my way out to take back to my room lol. Checked out this one Vietnamese restaurant in Winooski for lunch. It was super crowded even though there were plenty of tables in the dining room. Pho Dang is apparently a popular spot, and there was a bit of a wait to get seated. A sign this place must be good. The food confirmed it was. By looking at the name of this, it's safe to assume pho would be a good choice. It's what we came for, and that's just what we got. They have a lot to choose from, as well as many things other than pho. Has no alcohol, but customers can bring it in. It's about $12 for a bowl of pho. Has a vegan choice which is the Pho Rau Cai. This comes with a typical assortment of vegetables including bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, celery, mushrooms, onions, and tofu. Kind of plain to be honest. This is better with adding some hot spices. Got to come here again the next time around to get some great Vietnamese food. It's crowded and they won't take reservations, so just go and you'll have to wait for a table. The wait is worth it, for the pho that includes an option for vegans and vegetarians. read more

SO and I stopped here for dinner after a week in Quebec. Definitely needed something completely different from the French/Quebecois food that we were eating. SO had the bun thit nuong cha gio comprised of rice vermicelli with grilled pork and fried eggrolls...the pork was a little dry, but the dish was good overall. I had the massaman curry with rice, chicken and shrimp supplement...the coconut milk curry, carrots, potatoes and onions all combined to make an outstanding and satisfying dish. Tried the small pho dac biet and the bun ga nuong cha gio. The food wasn't bad but it needs some work. The pho soup was decent and had some brisket I think but I didn't see any rare beef slices or beef balls like stated on the menu. There was also no customary plate of greens (soybean sprouts, basil etc) to put in the pho. We ordered the bun thit nuong cha gio but instead of grilled pork, grilled chicken arrived. It was a decent bowl of bun with Chinese style spring rolls. The service wasn't good. Had to ask for a spoon and the check didn't arrive so ended up going to the counter to pay. read more

My family and I stopped at Pho Dang on our way back to NY from Canada on Tuesday, 8/12/25, in the afternoon. It was a long trip, and we thought it would be nice to enjoy some Vietnamese comfort food. The food itself was good, but the service was not. The staff member who took our order not only got it wrong but also showed a disrespectful attitude toward our family. We ordered three bowls of pho tai, but she only brought out one -- even though everyone around us heard us order three. When we pointed it out, she looked visibly annoyed, but we let it go since we saw that it's only her as a servant. Until, when my mom politely asked for a small bowl in Vietnamese. She immediately scolded my mom, saying, "No Vietnamese, English please." While she had mentioned earlier that she was not Vietnamese we understand but there were far more respectful ways to communicate that, or she could have asked for help from another family member that's sitting around. On top of that, she didn't bring enough utensils -- how can you enjoy pho soup without a spoon? We understand it was a busy time and our group was large, but that kind of attitude toward customers is simply not acceptable. read more

Came here with friends/family after learning Pho Hong had a 45 min wait. Called ahead and they had plenty of space for our party of 6. We were seated quickly, waters all around on a hot day. We all got different pho, orders came out in 10 min or so. I got the large #9 - broth was flavorful, great. The beef and cartilage was cooked well, we asked for and got extra bean sprouts/limes. My family has been going to Pho Dang for over a decade. Pho Dang was the first place I ever had Vietnamese food and has been my favorite since. I always try to visit whenever I see my parents. It is simply amazing. The pho is always delicious and full of flavors. I always get the meatball and rare beef. Always. Portions are huge and I can barely finish it when I order extra meat. The I also love their egg rolls, which are always hot and crispy. Perfect ratio of meat and rice/veggies inside. The staff is so nice. food comes out quick and is inexpensive. The children of the owners actually work there now. Even after I moved to Washington, DC, where there is a large Vietnamese population and subsequently many amazing Vietnamese restaurants, Pho Dang is still my favorite! I had the vegetarian pho, which was good, and for once it was salty. Most restaurants make their vegetarian pho sweet, but I prefer salty vegetarian pho instead. My husband took the beef pho, it was very good, not too greasy. They were very generous on the meat and the vegetables. They didn't cheap out on the meat or vegetable portion, which is good because by the end of the last bite, we would never have any meat left. But this time, we still had meat and vegetables. Have subsequently lived in DC and the Bay Area (with lots of great Vietnamese dining options), and still it is my favorite Pho and Bun noodles. I've been in VT this summer and have gotten take-out there for our family once a week. Everything is delicious - the kids have had the chicken pho (a large is perfect for them to split with leftovers for lunch) with a side-order of eggrolls, I've alternated between the Pho Tai and lemongrass beef noodles; my mom usually gets the pork and my husband likes the adventurous pho with the tendons, meatballs, etc. (the works). Everything is lovingly packaged, hot on arrival, delicious and customer service is great. read more

Pho Dang has been one of my go to places for some delicious noodles just off I-89. They advertise as a Vietnamese cafe, however the menu offering also has Massaman curry and Pad Thai for those wanting something Thai. On my multiple visits I've gone for a bowl of bun vermicelli noodles. Specifically #19 the bun ga nuong cha gio. It's hearty delicious and keeps my tummy full as I have driven back up to MTL or heading southbound. I've seen patrons ordering up their Pho noodle soups and they smell just heavenly. Just too much liquid for me when I'm in the car for a while. They will also do Vietnamese iced coffee which is great as a highway companion.
