I was visiting family in St. Louis and had a giftcard to Tints. I wanted to like this place much more than I did. The booking system is pretty odd- its online but it doesn't actually show you what is available. It gives all times and days- and you put in a request and wait for the salon to text you that if that time slot is okay or not. If not, they try to offer other ones, but it can take up to 24 hours to hear back. They are also closed on specific days but it allows you to book still. I just want to know if I have an appointment right away, so this system isn't ideal. The salon has very cute decor, comfy couches and great color selection- featuring nontoxic polish (really appreciate that). The salon is very professional, but other things were a miss for me. They dont have any massage chairs- I think that is one of the best parts. The standard pedicure is done pretty quickly- with minimal soaking, scrubbing, etc. The leg massage is really short with the tiniest amount of lotion (they use amazon branded lotion). They don't remove dead dry skin off your heels really at all. When I got back, I noticed the blue tablet they put into the water for the pedicure dyed the bottom of my foot blue. It took awhile to scrub off- but also how did they not see my foot was blue?? I also noticed the smallest bit of nail polish missing at the top of one of my toes. It wasn't the end of the world, but compared to how many nail places are out there I probably wouldn't go back unless someone I was with really wanted to. Overall experience: 3/5 read more

I came to Tints for the first time for a gel manicure. The parking lot is really big and easy to find a spot close by. They were very welcoming and the nail salon is really beautiful. Visited again after several years and had an okay pedicure. My technician wasn't particularly friendly and the experience left a lot to be desired. The decor is VERY nice. For a place near Frontenac, I kinda expected to be offered a drink (water, coffee, etc.) and a better pedicure overall. I got a quick soak, quick sugar scrub, and callous removal. My toenails were shaped up and polished very nicely. However, the water was very tepid, the tech only applied a little really light lotion just to my legs and my feet were actually ashy afterwards. Not a good look. I was kind of disappointed. Probably won't revisit. I'm just used to a different experience: warm water (especially when it's cold outside), friendly staff, asking if I'm happy with my service, moisturizing products, etc. read more

I would say that this is probably more of. 3.5 stars from me. The staff was very friendly. They were running behind for my appt time and were very apologetic. As noted in other reviews, not your typical nail salon set up. More minimal and boho style with cushy chairs and couches versus the standard massage chairs and rolling chairs. The aesthetic was nice but I have to admit that a massage chair is one of my favorite things about getting a pedicure. I do appreciate that the staff doubled up on my services. My pedicure started first and my manicure shortly after so that both were done at the same time rather than sequentially. It can be hard to find a place to do that! The services themselves were nice and gentle but the leg and hand massages weren't much to write home about and as I mentioned above, this girl likes a massage. I am a repeat patron of Tints! I love how their pricing is all inclusive (service + tip), so I always know how much I am spending, plus the service is always great. The employee was not friendly with my 10-year-old and didn't talk to her the entire time, which my daughter said made her feel awkward. I didn't see her smile once. She also didn't check in about how short she wanted her nails cut, and that lack of communication resulted in them being cut too short. Finally, she left her sitting there without communicating what was happening and eventually asked if we were ready to check out. The appointment itself took about twice as long as it was estimated to take which really threw off our afternoon schedule. I loved my experience here so much more than I expected. Where to start? The ambience was so nice - beautiful (not fluorescent) lighting, simple decor that's comfortable, an incredibly clean interior, friendly staff, and a welcoming atmosphere. I treated myself to a gel mani and pedi, knowing the price before going into it. Tip is included, and the services were outstanding, so I didn't feel bad paying $115. I will say that I don't think I am their target demographic as I cannot afford this kind of thing often, but it was a great splurge. If you're ever looking to treat yourself, go the extra mile and go here, seriously. You won't regret it. Special shout-out to Mimi and Gabby. My hands and feet were cleaned up, polished nicely, and taken care of. I felt like a princess being pampered, my feet soaking in warm water while someone filed and buffed my nails. It is a very stark contrast to the usual nail salon experience. In my own experience, things are rushed and half done, many tools are not sanitized, the interior of the salon is dirty, and the focus is all about high turnover. Not here. My favorite indulgence is getting my nails done. I've tried almost every place in South St. Louis and Mid-county but never found anywhere I loved until I went to Tints. From the moment you walk in the door, you realize Tints is different. It's quiet, peaceful, extremely clean and tastefully decorated. Some things to note about Tints: --Memberships--you can "join" Tints and choose to do a monthly or twice monthly mani/pedi. The membership includes unlimited regular polish changes. (IMHO--this is the way to go). --MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! I can't stress this enough. In the 2+ years I've been going to Tints, I've only seen one or two people be able to get services on a walk in basis. Lisha makes it easy to schedule appointments with online booking and text confirmation. I schedule my appointments at least a month out so I can get the days/times I want. --Staff does not accept tips. The staff is paid an hourly wage instead of being paid per customer. They do not rush through your services and Lisha does a great job of checking to make sure the finished product is excellent. Since I started getting my mani/pedis at Tints, I haven't gone anywhere else. The staff is excellent, professional, and friendly. I always feel welcome and my nails look great! read more

Took my mom here for a mani and pedi and asked if they could squeeze me in for a pedi which they were able to accommodate last min. My mom was so pleased with her service she pulled out money to tip but was advised they dont accept tips. Both she and I were happy with our results and I thought this would be my go to. They dont do anything fancy just polish your natural nail either basic or gel. I also liked the diverse staff there as well. Thought that would make it welcoming for all. The scheduling is a little weird but I get it because they want to make sure you get served in a timely manner. But fast forward to my second most recent visit and I'm left skeptical and may not return. The same lady who helped my mom, who was really nice and I had great conversation with, didnt do the best job on my nails. She did tell me to inspect them which I thought I did but missed some inconsistencies probably because I was so focused with the new girl doing my feet. She was so delicate like she was afraid to hurt me I had to verbally tell her she wouldn't. She couldn't polish my toenails because she was new so another lady came and I had to ask her to look and finish my feet before polishing. I have visited this nail salon with a friend. I wasn't that impressed. She likes this place and I wanted to get her a gift certificate here to thank her. I first came here on Saturday 6/15, open until 7. Arrived at 5:50...closed. So came back on Sunday at 4:30. Door was locked as they were finishing with a client. They debated opening up the door, and when they did I explained I tried yesterday and now here again to get a gift card for a friend who is a client. Tints has been open for about a year, but it still has a glow of shiny newness. The space has lots of natural light from the floor to ceiling front windows, mid-century modern furniture, brass light fixtures, succulents and greenery throughout- Instagram worthy. For my first visit, I made an appointment on their website just to be on the safe side. Walk-ins are welcome, however. I was immediately greeted, offered wine/coffee/water, and asked to pick a color from the swatches. The gel manicure comes with a 2 week warranty in case of any premature peeling or chipping. The manicure seating was a comfy sofa with extra pillows. The buffer and file the nail tech used were brand new for my use only. Instead of throwing them away when she was done, she let me keep them! The pedicure stations are not the uncomfortable, worn in massage chairs of your standard nail salon. Each comfy leather chair has its own foot tub- but none of the tubs have filters or recirculated water. Every person is getting a fresh, clean, brand new set of water- the tubs only have drains, not your typically bubbling water bath- so this place is clean! The higher price is definitely warranted by the amazing service, the wine, the fresh/clean tools, the cleanliness of the entire operation. I booked appointments for myself and an out-of-town friend based on what I read on Yelp, and we definitely weren't disappointed! The salon is super cute and everyone we interacted with was really friendly. My friend got a gel mani and I got a regular pedi. We were both super happy with our services, and I will definitely be going back. My friend had gotten a gel mani while traveling recently, and she told her nails tech that it peeled as soon as she got her hands wet. The nail tech took the time to explain why that happened, and explained to her what she was doing to prevent that from happening. My nail tech was awesome (I wish I had gotten her name!) and kept up a friendly conversation throughout my appointment. I would encourage people to book an appointment ahead of time. Tints offers a member package, and as a salon in a more upscale area, they do cater to these customers more so than walk-ins. Booking online is super easy though, and takes seconds! While the communication was great this time In regards to making my appointment, I ended up not getting anything done due to the fact that they said that there would be a $40 additional up charge to change the color of my French mani tips to brown...something that they advertise on their Instagram. They also stated that you have to Clarify that you are wanting something like this before the appointment. None of this is communicated on their website or Instagram... I totally understand doing these things if I wanted something ornate or fancy, but changing the color to a French mani is neither. I absolutely loved everything about this place. I was able to book an appointment online and received a text about ten minutes later to confirm. I was promptly greeted and offered coffee, wine, or water before I got situated, and the water is flavored with citrus in a big decanter. I opted for a lilac color from their non-toxic polishes and got settled into the loveseat - they have real, actual furniture in lieu of wheeled office chairs or plastic stools or whatever you normally see in nail salons. It was perfect, because my mom got to sit with me on the loveseat to chat while my nails were done. I got the Natural Mani and my manicurist really took her time to make sure every line and edge was perfect; not a rough corner or jagged nail to be found. She was also super friendly in general. They went above and beyond to make this a place where you could go and feel comfortable during Covid. Temperature checks, everyone washing their hands when they enter, staff all wears masks (correctly!!), guests all wear masks, hand sanitizer available, staff wears gloves and changes them between customers. They also open new nail kits for each person which I loved. I like that they don't accept tips because it makes you feel like each person can really take their time and not rush to rack up tips from multiple customers. I never post reviews but I have to relay the awful hurtful treatment I received from Tint's owner. Last week I needed to have my nails done to attend my sister's funeral. I was able to get squeezed in after several attempts. I accepted an appointment with little time to get there. As I was driving there I received a call saying I was late and assured them I was a minute away and further explained why I needed the appointment. The owner told me they can not see me. She later texted me saying, she was sorry for my situation and hoped I had a better day. This place is typically where Julia R and I go to treat ourselves, today was no different. We had a 12:30 appointment that our friend scheduled for us as a gift for Julia for getting a new job. (Woo!) They messaged us within the hour leading up to our appointment, asking us if we could come 15 minutes early. I understand, Sunday afternoons are probably busy, so we did our best to be a little early. We immediately had spots and were enjoying our time. By that I mean I got to read my book Here's where I left kind of frustrated today: I have come here 5-6 times now, I enjoy the relaxing 2000's playlist, calm vibes, and the space itself. My wife loves it here and we've always had good experiences. But today, everything just seemed kind of rushed there was a miscommunication that left me disappointed with my experience. Starting with the text requesting that we come sooner and concluding with a miscommunication about me wanting polish, but apparently not signing up for the correct service. I was under the impression that I'd be able to get polish, per usual. I requested the Man-pedi, which is advertised as a $30 buff and shine. To their credit that is what I received. It did feel a little rushed, but I was willing to over look that because I have never felt rushed here before. To my knowledge I had only ever gotten than Man-pedi, but other times they have painted my nails. I began to assume that that was just an option you were able to take advantage of near the end of the service. Apparently times I had gotten polish I had been charged the regular pedicure price $5 more. Again, no problem- I just wish that had been communicated to me so that I knew I was getting a different service. By the time I understood that I hadn't ordered polish, they were out of time. Also, after you shine nails, polish can't be applied. All and all, I just didn't leave super happy with the service, the result, nor the lack of communication. read more
