John at Tint World - Bay Area Blvd, TX, literally couldn't turn the screw on a headlight adjustment he was supposed to perform. Zero tools ready, zero proper equipment, zero knowledge, and zero concern for a disabled customer who drove there on John's schedule. I scheduled an appointment at Tint World specifically to have my headlights adjusted--the same lights I purchased from them. When I arrived, John, who introduced himself as the owner (not a franchisee), opened the hood and immediately had no idea where the adjustment screw was. I had to point it out to him. He then couldn't find his 10mm socket--it was lying on the floor. When he finally went to turn the screw, I asked if he had a light-measuring device to properly aim the beams. He admitted he didn't.  When I asked how he planned to measure and adjust the beam pattern, he said he didn't know--because the technician who normally handles this wasn't there. He could see how frustrated and confused I was, so he casually told me I was welcome to take my vehicle somewhere else. I explained I didn't want to go elsewhere; I was simply asking how he intended to do the job correctly. He repeated that the proper tech wasn't available. I reminded him that he had set the appointment at his own convenience. Why schedule it if the only qualified person wasn't going to be there?  This was already my second wasted round trip. The shop had empty bays, 2 cars in the parking lot, and only one other tech visible. They weren't busy at all.  The only reason I didn't adjust the screw myself is that I am paralyzed and use a power wheelchair--my hands do not function. John knew this. When I told him I would be posting about this experience, he replied that he didn't care. This isn't just bad service--it's embarrassing for a business that sells and installs lighting products. Customer service should never be this dismissive, especially toward someone with a disability. Not that it should matter to begin with. read more

We came to the tint world for our Tesla to be tinted. Lets face it, Tesla is cool and all but with the huge beautiful windows which are almost transparent comes the issue of the Houston sun glaring down at you from all sides- also tinting saves energy as the sun will penetrate less and the car stays cooler longer. John Anhalt was pleasant to talk to and he got to the job right away since we came with a prior appointment. Josephs Thornton was the service guy. As a team they did a great job in getting us our tint get done. They have different packages and ranging from $200 to $500, the highest one comes with a lifetime warranty. Some Good-to- know info about tinting a Tesla: the windshield is where the maximum heat penetrates the car, many owners get this tinted. This is a special tint which is not visible like a tint from outside but you are protected and it is fully legal. This costs approximately $200 The roof can also be tinted for an additional cost of approximately $300 I do wish their coffee area was cleaner and had more options, maybe even a vending machine is a good idea. There is nothing in walkable distance and if u come from as far as we did in one car, then it gets a little inconvenient to wait for 2-3 hours with just water and coffee. read more

We contacted Tint World in Clear Lake to inquire about a 2005 Mustang GT that needed a complete redo as the tint was in horrible shape, bubbled and view was severely obstructed bc of the failing tint. Whoever my husband spoke to on the phone they were very courteous and very informative, so he made an appointment for a drop off the following week. When we arrived we met Alex L. and from the moment we walked in he was kind, extremely professional and very thorough about how the whole process worked. He helped us pick out the tint that would work best for our 18 year old son. We went with the ceramic tint and we felt the price was very good for the work we were getting done. To be honest, we felt terrible even asking them to take on this job bc the tint was so bad, but they reassured us they could take it on. During the time the Mustang was there, Alex stayed in contact with us, updating us where they were in the process. We appreciated this so much bc it helped us plan out the next couple of days. We went back to pick up the Mustang and OH MY! It was gorgeous! I KNOW they busted their butts getting her looking this good. I am kicking myself that I didn't think to take before pics so I could post the before and after. But we were absolutely super impressed. *Also, the ceramic tint has done wonders with this heat. I'm impressed, but also disappointed. My car had 35% tint already installed from the previous owner. I wanted a better quality tint film, and a darker tint because the VLT regulations are different here in Texas. I went in for 25% tint (specifically requested 25% because that is the darkest legal tint you're allowed in Texas), and the person assisting me said they could get it done for me. Nevertheless, they installed 30% without communicating to me prior to installation. They told me afterwards that the lowest they could do at the shop is 30%, and it leads me to believe that the reason they didn't tell me prior to installation is because of the risk losing my business. They lean more towards the expensive side for both removal and installation. My recommendation is that you remove your old tint yourself, it's really easy and it's worth dodging the mark up that they charge (it's one of the more expensive removal quotes that you'll get from any shop in the area). I would recommend that you ask for the total cost before they complete the job. They gave me the total for the tint itself but did not disclose the installation fee or tint removal until afterwards when they expected payment for completion. Nonetheless, the installation was good, it was finished in a very timely manner, two years later (two Texas summers for that matter) and the tint is still holding up well. If price is not an issue and the associate is upfront with you then I don't see why not use their service. I will not personally use their services again. My experience was upsetting; although kind, the associate appeared to be deceptive in order to maintain my business. Partial truths and half answers are just white lies in my book. It very well may have been a misunderstanding, lack of communication, or any manner of things; but due to the manner in which the events unfolded, this is how it came across from the perspective of the customer; therefore, it is worth mentioning. However, it is important to understand that this was just my personal experience on that specific date with that specific associate. This specific experience does not attest to the integrity of the owner, the management, the rest of the team, or even the business as a whole. I previously reviewed Tint World and had positive things to say about their quality of work. It has become clear to me that as this shop's popularity grew, their customer service and workmanship has plummeted, especially for those of us with non-luxury cars. When looking to get front/rear dash cameras installed in both of my vehicles, Tint World immediately came to mind. The installation of the camera in my pickup truck had no issues and the work was of good quality. Complications arose with the install for my 2005 BMW 325CI. We knew a rear camera in a convertible would be tricky, but I created a design (I have a mechanical engineering/aerospace background) that would work and the shop/tech agreed they could do the work. John, the owner, even said he was going to put "his best guy" on the job. When I came to pick up the car, I noticed 2 major gouges on the rear headrest plastic trim. It was apparent the scratches were from (and aligned perfectly with) two zip ties that had been cut to a point and angled downwards. I assume as the tech moved the camera mount arm over the rear headrest trim, the zip ties gouged the plastic. When I asked John about the scratches he asked, "are you sure those scratches weren't there before?" I said I was positive. At this point, I was angry that my car's interior was damaged in such an unnecessary way (just cut zip ties flush). But I was mostly angry that as a repeat customer, John's first response was to question my knowledge of my car for something that was so clearly the fault of his tech. As I was leaving, John added that since the plastic was so old, that's probably why it scratched so easily. I told him to stop. It didn't matter how old the plastic was, it should not have been gouged in the first place. I got into my car to leave and noticed that my front right passenger speaker produced no sound. After a quick scan of the radio balance settings, I concluded it was likely a loose cable for that channel. When I walked back in and told John about the speaker, he protested that the tech did nothing with the audio system that would have caused it to fail. He asked again if I was sure it was working when I brought it in. Finally, he agreed to fix the speaker and I would stop by later to work out scheduling. When I stopped by to schedule, I provided feedback to John that it was poor customer care to immediately blame a customer and question their integrity when a mistake in work is found. I also said that since his "best guy" worked on my car, I no longer have trust in the quality of work he promised. I then gave him a piece of paper which stated my availability over the next two weeks. I told John that for this speaker repair, to make the whole thing right, he would call me by COB Monday with an appointment time within my availability. I would show up to that appointment, they'd immediately begin work on my car, and I would watch the tech complete the work. Once complete, I would leave and we would call ourselves good from there. John agreed and even offered that if I did find a replacement trim plastic he would buy it and replace it for free. I appreciated the offer and I left the shop feeling like maybe this was just a huge miss and not part of a greater trend. That was until Monday COB, when I failed to get a phone call. I had to call the shop Tuesday and prompt them to finally get an appointment time. On the day of my appointment, I found out the tech would be 30 minutes late. I asked why he was late to our scheduled appointment. John then said he did not realize the timing was such a big thing and that I had stated my availability for the day was "all day". I reminded him the availability sheet was for determining an appointment time, not that I intended to leave the car there all day. He said he didn't not remember that and that it was not what his interpretation was. He also added he didn't know how long he needed the car, maybe until 6 pm, maybe he needed parts, etc. After debating, I finally decided to walk away from the whole thing and pay another shop out of pocket to have my speaker fixed. I told John that I had given the shop plenty of opportunities to make things right and he didn't seem to care. I walked out with my car in the same condition I received it from Tint World: gouged trim, with no working front right speaker, and a trunk full of excuses. I can no longer recommend Tint World. After talking with multiple coworkers who have used their services (and many that I've recommended there myself), they agree that the quality of work for the average car has greatly decreased over the past year. I was made to feel like a "problem customer" when I pointed out major mistakes in their work with no real accountability from the owner - just the standard brushoff of "I'm sorry. How can I make it right?" with absolutely no genuine follow-through. read more

Update to owner comment: The statement made to me was it would be "a little more" not over double what was quoted. I did not mistake the comments he was making with the customer that came in. He immediately went for the absolute most expensive product they sell and told the gentlemen that is all that would match. Continuing to tell him his tint was sooooo dark. Do not go here. Due to the comment by the owner I have lowered to one star. I'll say that the business itself is nice and well kept. They were able to get me in quickly which was nice. When I came in for my appointment the gentleman working the counter didn't even attempt to ask how I wanted my windshield tint done. I had to be the one to stop him and explain how and what percentage tint I wanted done. Once I told him I wanted the tint below the AS1 line the price went from $30 to $70 instantly and he was fairly consistently rude stating "that's really low, oh man that's really really low". There is a sign in the store stating military discount 10% off but it doesn't state any stipulations so after I noticed it before swiping my card I asked and he quickly and rudely stated "only on full packages". I also saw the same man try and rip off an older African American gentleman that came in to get his front windows tinted. The guy obviously didn't know much about what went into tint, he just stated he wanted the front to match the back. The sales guy immediately stated " oh man that's dark I dunno about that" and anyone that he worked around tint for any amount of time knows that stock tint on vehicles comes out to about a 20% tint. The salesman told the gentleman that he would have to purchase their most expensive tint "ceramic tinting" to get it to match. He didn't even match the tint at first and tried selling him a much lighter percentage than what should have been put on it to match. All in all I would never return after seeing what I saw while being there and my price nearly tripling just because I wanted tint an extra inch and a half below the AS1 line and their what seemed to be shady business practices and the salesman condescending tone about anything he obviously didn't agree read more

Called and spoke with an employee about getting a price of ceramic coating my car. The packages start at 499 and up. I was able to come in the same day to have the car looked over and given an estimate on pricing. I needed some paint correction which I already about and I was told and given a brochure about the different packages offered. I found out they offer a life time ceramic coating packages also. Life time and paint correction was a little more than I was expecting but I will be back later to have them both done. Used the "Request a Quote" option on the Yelp page for Tint World and was given a quote of $179 by the Store Manager at the location in Webster, Texas. Scheduled an appointment and showed up with cash to exchange for services. Basically was told the Basic Package of $179, that we were quoted and that was advertised in the store was not being offered because it was an inferior product and they had too many returns on it. So we decided to go with the next level package at $249 and asked about the warranty. The Tech said "well if I am here I can take care of an issues you have, but it's not really a warranty." Was also told that "no tint job is ever perfect and the warranty would only cover the product not the installation." So basically any bubbles or corners peeling up would be additional charges. Needless to say we took our $179 to $249 in business, elsewhere. If you do choose this business ask a lot of questions before you hand over your cash. Very misleading! Buyer beware! read more
