Has they still been on Monaghan St and Maya cafe was open I'd have gone there for a great cappuccino. This time we got the meal deal 3 at £24 but it was topped up by £2 due to my order choices (no fish just chicken based mains) but I've give. Up arguing over price hikes. I suppose I was inclined to do a review here having just recently experienced a truly dreadful Bangladeshi restaurant in Letterkenny. The latter deserves promptly closed down with the former deserving of support in this most challenging of times.

I was told 'very expensive' and it would cost an additional £2 if I chose this main. I was shown the meals I could opt for within the set meal deal yet the menu price difference between these meals was 55 pence - a far cry from the £2 difference. So this is bad business and I changed my order. I guess they got £3 less over the counter from me. Very poor approach to a regular customer.

Believe me M&S butter chicken is gourmet in comparison. I also did an order on just eat and they increased the price of my order when I got there to collect. So I felt it was time to try another restaurant. This restaurant is take away only. It has an open kitchen so I watched as my shish kebab starter was skewer cooked from fresh, with fresh coriander added and I watched nan breads being made too - they came out suitably blistered and looked really good. I opted for lamb rogan josh and again watched it being cooked and assembled. I was asked my heat preference and opted for medium. So my curry was tasty, generous chunks of lamb and a lovely sauce consistency too. I got a little pot of yoghurt style sauce, a perfectly cooked pilau rice and chef threw in a couple of complimentary poppadoms that he also crisped up in the tandoor. I intend to experiment some more with other dishes and I will update my review in a few weeks - the nan breads looked particularly good so they will be on my next order. A solid three stars for a first visit.

Its always busy here so it is worth reserving a table before you go. The decor is really lovely and very comfortable. The only downside is the service can be very slow probably because the staff are always rushed off their feet.I didn't remove a star for this though as the staff are always so nice and they almost always throw in a few extra side dishes and a drink on the house. I've eaten here both in and takeout many times and never have been disappointed.

We needed dinner and I fancied Indian food. 2 orders onion bahjis Chicken tikka massala w/ chips Lamb korma w/rice Garlic naan 1x Diet Coke €42 and change - not to be sniffed at! Portions were generous, food was piping hot and fresh and I don't remember ever having lamb so tasty. It was absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and the food came out pretty quickly too. After much searching online, we found the details of this restaurant and decided to give it a try. We made a quick call, to make a reservation for that evening. We later found out that the establishment is also a Bed & Breakfast, something that we will remember when we return to the area. In the town of Belturbet, at the top of the Main Street the road bends to the right towards Cavan and Dublin, rather than following the road to the right, go straight on and you will see the marina on your left. Follow this road out of Belturbet for around 5 miles and we found the restaurant on the left, up a brightly lit driveway. Upon arriving at the restaurant, set in the beautiful County Cavan countryside, we were greeted by comfortable and appealing furnishings and the aroma of spices. We availed of the Christmas Menu meal deal, this included four courses and a glass of wine or beer for just €25 each. Each course was beautifully presented and the food was obviously freshly prepared, as it tasted superb. The couple that run the place were very welcoming and friendly and there was a great and relaxing atmosphere throughout our visit. If you like Indian food, you will not be disappointed and I bet you will not find better anywhere.

It was a very tasty main, I did enjoy the paneer and my wife enjoyed my sauce more than her own as it was sweeter. The only thing missing, that I expected to find, was green peas and only because they are always in this dish when I order it. Their absence didn't affect the dish, I was just surprised not to get them. The only disappointment was the peshwari nan as the filling was so thin we simply couldn't detect any of the flavours we expected but given the price I wouldn't drop a star. My advice is put the price up a bit and put in some more filling. Our friends enjoyed their dishes but I only recall one main - chicken biryani with the same 'sour' sauce and a garlic nan.

I couldn't get the coal fire to light at home, I'd left it late eventually succeeding just in time to add slack to back the fire up, close the air vents and leave for our meal. I blamed Andromeda; now I wasn't looking for the temperature of the nuclei of the blue snowball planetary nebulae but a shade above 15c would have been nice before we went out into 2c. Anyway as ever I digress; this deal was about £20 for two. The rating reflects this fact: we were the only diners and had 4 four excellent, fresh cooked, plain poppadoms with 3 fabulous dips; mint, spicy & mango chutney, the dips remained on the table to use with the two mains, two portions of rice (boiled & pilau), two side salads, two naan bread (garlic & Peswari) and a choice of two glasses of wine or beer. My wife took both quarter bottles of white wine on the deal (menu price £3.50 each) I had a 660 ml of ice cold cobra (£4.75). I'd be much happier had there been real ale choices but realistically this place is in a small village in the countryside and probably has no demand for my predilections. There were a few meals not on the deal - steak (I wouldn't have steak in an Indian) and tandoori king prawn dishes: fair enough. We both opted for the mixed grill served with vegetable curry. So rather than two veg curries we asked if one could be korma, this was no problem. They use a gas tandoor. The naan breads were very good, the two sauces were good with both containing similar vegetables, a mix of fresh & frozen vegetables. The mains were above average to good with a quarter of skinless chicken, tandoor chicken and lamb pieces and a piece of seekh kebab. The main alone would be a score of three. Being picky: the chicken quarter should have been deeply scored with a knife to allow the spice flavours to penetrate the meat to the bone, some lemon juice and garlic shards should have been added to the marinade as these make a big difference and add extra fresh lemon juice just before serving (or put a piece of lemon on the dinner plate), cut down on the red food dye and on a positive note, the balance of salt and spice in the lamb seekh kebab was just right. The quality of the naans, willingness to let us choose our sauces, the friendly attentive service and the cracking deal warrant excellent. I wouldn't have liked to pay the near £14 full menu cost for the mixed grill main as it would have been expensive for what was on the plate and I'd have been less generous in my rating. Then out to freezing point; a clear dark sky with Andromeda plain to see, as was Alpha Andromedae on its North East edge. The car radio came to life, radio two with a charming Michael Ball, as we drove off to 'Perhaps Love' John Denver & Spaniard Placido Domingo (means peaceful Sunday) one of our all time favourite songs. Then the angelic tenor Art Garfunkel singing 'Bright Eyes'. This was No 1 when our first son was born. Andromeda was smiling on us after all, lighting our way and our memories home over wet country roads. All we needed to top this winter night was John Denver singing 'For You' so at the push of a button off went the radio and on came John. If you have never heard either of these two songs go on you tube. They really are worth 10 minutes of your day and play loud. And home to a warm fire. Thanks after all Andromeda.
