Tinley Tandoori - Menu

Tinley Tandoori

This is our first take-away from here and it was very good; mind you the korma is a real sugar hit…read more We had attempted to go for lunch a long time ago but it was closed despite saying open. We ordered seekh kebab, chicken tikka with pilau rice, a potato & cauliflower side, a korma sauce and a peshwari nan. We got two complimentary poppadoms and a yoghurt based dip also included. All our food was really tasty. The food is cooked to order so expect about a 15 minute wait from placing your order. The guy serving was friendly enough and was quite amenable to tweaking my order to suit our tastes. So it's our new go to Indian (Bangladeshi) restaurant in town. We had been going to another place in town for many years. They recently moved to Cornmarket but we just got tired of their nickel & dime attitude, we found that loyalty counted for nowt and we sure didn't enjoy our last takeaway from there a week ago and that forced us to try here.

It's a normal takeaway restaurant, which we always seem to end up going to when we're spending time in Newry because we are always on the go for a night out or some such antics. Thier dishes are all good - and I've tried a few, but always come back to their Korma dish, because it's generally my favourite from an Indian Cuisine point of view, and theirs is creamy and gorgeous and a good sized portion too. The service is quick and the food is freshly made and the staff are efficient and hardworking. A great takeaway - I will be going back there for definite.

One of the most unique dishes was the Horin-Er-Mangsho, a loin of local venison flame-grilled to medium rare and served with tamarind sauce on the side. The venison was super juicy, meaty, and flavorful, making for a delicious starter. For my main, I got the Kolkata Thali, described on the menu as "South East Indian Tapas." This metal platter came with a sampling of different vegetarian dishes including breaded paneer, aloo tikki (spiced mashed potato patty), stir-fried okra, shredded potatoes, dal (mixed lentils), chickpeas in tomato sauce, eggplant in tomato sauce, raita, rice, and plain naan. My favorite was the aloo tikki, which was nicely spiced--in general, however, most of the dishes on the thali were all toned down in spices to fit a more Anglo-Indian flavor palate. So while this wasn't the most authentic Indian food I've tried, the restaurant still made for nice trendy dining experience.

We had some fantastic food- Chicken tikka masala was tasty, and we also enjoyed the garlic naan, prawns appetizer, and Murghi Shashlik (chicken tikka with vegetables and mosala sauce). This was our favorite restaurant on our trip to London, Ireland and Northern Ireland!! Try it if you are in Belfast!!
