The exterior isn't much to look at, but stepping inside tells a different story. The interior has a sports bar meets old school diner vibe, with decor that gives the whole place a nostalgic, lived-in charm. We all decided on the Darrell's Special sandwich with jalapeño mayo, and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was fantastic the whole meal, constantly checking in, keeping our drinks filled, and making sure we didn't need anything else. Despite how busy the place was, our sandwiches came out in a surprisingly short time. The sandwich itself is a beast! A toasted, loaded bun stacked with ham, turkey, and roast beef (which I hear is made in-house), all topped with roast beef gravy, American, Swiss, and provolone cheeses, lettuce, mustard, and your choice of regular or jalapeño mayonnaise, of course we had the Jalapeño Mayo. The first bite reminded me of a warm French dip, but that impression quickly gave way to layers of different meat flavors, rounded out by the subtle heat of the jalapeño mayo. It practically melted in my mouth. Honestly, I wanted to finish the whole thing, but I didn't want to need to be rolled out of the building, so I boxed up the second half and enjoyed it again for dinner. Great food, great service, and now I understand what all the buzz was about.

The top 2 choices are the most common, the special and the surf and turf. To me, what makes a good po-boy, is the bread....like many other sandwiches. If you have great bread, you're usually making a good sandwich. I tried the small special, while the rest of the table tried either the special or surf and turf. They don't have a formal kids menu, but they just have either PB&J or grilled cheese. We tried the grilled cheese. My fav ended up being the surf and turf due to it being cleaner to eat and more variety of taste and texture between the bread. I liked the special, but I forgot to ask the server to remove the American cheese, so it made it taste funny and would have been better without it.

I visit during happy hours (4:00PM - 8:00PM) and take advantage of the $2.00 bottle beers (12 oz) and the 1/2 priced burgers on Tuesday's and the .75 wings on Wednesday's. On these days and times, the bar in not crowded and it gives me an opportunity to relax and un wine after a long day in the office sitting behind a desk. On occasions, I visit on a Thursday when there is a live DJ, but this place can get very busy as Thursdays seems to cater to the younger crowd. I always feel safe at this spot, and I never worry about trouble or the crowd getting out rowdy of control. The service is on the slower side, but the customer service is awesome due to only having one POS. I highly recommend they install another one to speed up the service. Now the food. I've had the opportunity to taste the wings, the M burger with fries, and the Firecracker shrimp. Everything is cooked to order, well-seasoned, and delicious. The M Burger comes with a custom blend perfectly seasoned patty that covers the entire bun, M bar sauce, white cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, and purple onions, and served with hot Cajun seasoned fries. SO GOOD, I order one every Tuesday. After all, where else can I get a good made to order burger and fries for $6.10 plus tax. The wings come in a variety of flavors. They are perfectly cooked to order and no matter what sauce you put on them, they are delicious. They are however, on the small side, but I can't complain, they are very good and at .75 per wing on Wednesday's, you cannot go wrong when paired with $2.00 Bud Light. The Firecracker Shrimp I love me some shrimp and these are to die for. A little pricy for 6 shrimps, but the shrimps are large, lightly battered and fried to perfection, and served with the M Bar's spicy sauce. I believe in supporting small minority owned businesses. Providing them with the opportunity to grow by spending my dollars with them means a lot. But if you're looking for a quite little place to hang out without the large crowds, give the M Bar a try. They even have a nice patio area to hang out on.

They took us to a table initially on the side and we asked for a better view and they switched us tables, which was great! Food - we ordered the eight count chicken wings, which was more than enough for both of us because it's the whole wing, basically two pieces each. We also ordered the fries which are like potato wedge swirls and were lightly seasoned, which was good. Lastly we ordered the bourbon peach cobbler... Didn't taste a lot of bourbon and it definitely needed more bready texture but it was still good. I would say it's more like a peach pie.

I try to order fries no matter where I go just to see how they throw down in that fryer. These are hands down the best fries I've had in 2025.. maybe even for the last 5 years. I also want to commend the exceptional service I received here at Avenue Axe. The bartender was so sweet and friendly for taking care of us that late into the night.
