I hadn't been to Tin Drum in years when we decided to try it again, and I don't know if I'll be back. It's a fast casual restaurant with a modern look, we did a pickup and order was ready on time at least, but the server didn't bother to lookup at pickup and the food was overpriced and not good. I got ramen, where any protein (except the egg it comes with) costs extra. For Ramen I thought the portion was small, except the broth and noodles, but the broth wasn't good enough that I even ate any of it with a spoon. The egg was also hard boiled instead of gooey like I'd typically expect with ramen. The other food my party got was similarly poorly rated in terms of size and value, although flavor was better. read more

They have too many different Asian cultures on the menu. The chicken lettuce wrap was tasty but the texture of the limp lettuce did not bode well for holding up the ingredients. The ingredients look like it came from a pot of mush then put on my plate. The Cantonese green beans were crunchy but I'm scared I might get high blood pressure from all the sodium in the savory sauce. The atmosphere is trendy. I have never had such an awful experience with a restaurant. The staff made a mistake with our food. They put pork in the children's chicken fried rice. We're allergic to pork, and it made us sick. When we called the restaurant to complain. They argued with us, trying to gaslight us into believing that it was chicken in the dish, and not pork. And then, when we asked to speak to a manager. We were told that there was no manager in the restaurant. And, upon asking for confirmation of this, she hung up on us. The food tasted like it had been cooked with any number of other foods. This suggests very poor health and safety stands with regards to cross-contamination. Do NOT eat here. read more

I left Atlanta 7 years ago and moved to Boston. Living in Boston made me really appreciate the (what I thought at the time was) severely underrated food scene in Atlanta. We were blessed with world class choices - Barbecue, Korean, Sichuan, Southern fried chicken biscuits, sushi, pizza, pasta - Atlanta really had it all. Cue 7 years later, Atlanta has a few Michelin stars - deservedly so. I can pretty much go to any part of this vast metro area and find something delicious. Moving back to Atlanta, one of the biggest things I was looking forward to was the food. So, much to my surprise I remember the original location of this place, Tin Drum. I remember a beyond serviceable hot, cost effective Pad Thai and not so bad chicken dumplings. So when cruising around Sandy Springs and on a time crunch, we saw this location of a now obviously chain and decided to grab a bowl. To say that this was the absolute worst, vomit inducing pile of gelatinous hot garbage would be doing it a service. The pad Thai I remember is no longer on the menu - instead in its place is the ghost of a shell of overcooked noodles, spaghetti clammy tomato invoking soy sauce, stingy unfresh toppings (no peanuts?), and nickel and dime up charges for the chicken. At less than two bucks for the chicken, I wasn't expecting much. But this was literally food service grade, precooked (with grill marks and all) from frozen chicken chunks that had the mouthfeel of tofu and the taste of chicken stock that sat out on the counter for three days. My wife ordered serviceable lettuce wraps, but the lettuce (which came pre-wrapped in Saran Wrap) was clearly not washed well so she skipped out. The chicken was the same Sisco food service grade precooked chicken chunks, just chopped up finely. The sauce was so sugar laden her CGM reported a massive blood sugar spike from something we thought should be rather not-carby. She also ordered a bowl of the "hot and sour" soup, and her only comment was it tasted like unseasoned miso broth. The ambience was going for a chipotle-like feel. The restaurant itself was sad and empty on a weekday night at 7PM, so that should have been a key indicator to drive on by. This is literally the worst food experience I've had in Atlanta by a country mile. Frozen PF Chang's pad Thai would have been a thousand times a better option than this. Please, do your self a service and skip out. read more

Tried the tonkatsu chicken over fried rice and enjoyed it very much. The serving was pretty hearty and a bit too much to finish. I also ordered the fried chicken potstickers and noticed that they were smaller than anticipated but had zero leftovers on that item. We came here for dinner this past mid-November on a Sunday evening. This Tin Drum location is in a strip mall with some popular businesses sharing the same free parking lot, but this was no issue since there were many spaces available. We walked in, and there was only one customer who was already there waiting for her take out order. There were only two employees, and one of them was just standing at the order counter. Apparently greeting customers wasn't included in her training because all she did was give us a blank stare - not even a smile, as if she didn't want to be there. R approached the order counter and said hello to the employee, and, get this, all she did was wave to him. Smh. She didn't say a word until he asked about a couple of menu items. We both ordered the Pork Belly Tonkotsu Ramen, which included pork belly chashu (braised pork), soy egg, bean sprouts, green onions, crispy onions, garlic oil, chili oil, broth and ramen noodles. In addition, R ordered a small Drum salad. We waited about 10 minutes for our food to be served to us at the table. We got the ramen, but didn't get the salad. R told the employee who bought our food that he had also ordered a salad, and the employee told him that she'd bring it out as soon as it was prepared. I thought the ramen was just ok. The egg was cooked perfectly, but it was cold. Nothing about the ramen stood out in a good way. 20 minutes after our ramen was served, right as we got done eating, R's salad was brought to our table. Maybe the employee thought that the salad was a dessert? Anyhow, she didn't explain the delay in bringing the salad or apologize, but, by this time, we didn't care, frankly. Our minds about coming back to this location was already decided. We're definitely NOT returning. Lots of tables for customers. However, we were the only ones in there eating. I got the pork belly tonkotsu ramen and my husband had the spicy miso chicken. I loved mine but he found his a bit too spicy to really enjoy. He also was still hungry afterwards as most of what you pay for is broth, which certainly isn't very filling. Definitely on the pricy side. Pet peeve is no fountain drinks or sweet tea, so no drink refills. I'm sure this is because they want you to buy thier boba tea. I got their bottled ginger ale - super gingery. read more

We had a delicious yet quick meal at Tin Drum Asian Kitchen. The gentleman who took our order was friendly and made great recommendations. Good thing I like curry, because they are the only things on the menu that are gluten free! But seriously, the Bangkok Sweet Chili Curry with shrimp was so wonderful, especially with chili paste on the side. I was glad to have had brown rice as well. My husband let me share his caramel boba tea (one of few without caffeine), which was very sweet but lip-smacking. And my husband really enjoyed his pork ramen soup. Ordered the drunken noodle bowl ($9.50). It was a decent size, featured some quality ingredients, and had some nice flavors. Unfortunately, though, it was beyond greasy (see photo for evidence of a pool of oil that even a bowlful of rice noodles couldn't absorb). I picked off the chicken and veg, leaving the noodles, but still felt a little nauseous after the meal. I was among the first customers at the very first Tin Drum, and was hooked immediately. What I love is the foods great taste has never changed, in fact they have developed and added more amazing dishes. I usually ALWAYS get pad Tai and spring rolls, and I did get that, but I also got a curry dish, and OMG. So good! The buba (sp) tea was awesome too. Their atmosphere is always welcoming, the staff super friendly, places are always super clean and structured. I'm very ocd, so to have all of that at any location is great. I've had to leave Atl sadly and live in Rome, Ga, a college town with 3 colleges, new businesses added daily, but with not enough variety options here, so 8 times a month fir Dr appts I get my favorite food. You guys would be packed if you came here. Panda express is new here and have been. We have thousands moving here from Atlanta and LA to be in the mountains and save money.....open one here!!! Location is the only one I've been to in years that didn't allow more than 3- level spicy. Portions were also MUCH smaller than other locations. The food (cup of coconut soup and spicy basil mango chicken) was only warm. And I asked for Unsweetened black tea, but was given sweet. Stopped by for the first time because I live down the street & Tin Drum did not disappoint! I got the citrus pad Thai & the Tim drum curry. The portions are huge, I used them for two meals because I couldn't finish in one sitting. The citrus pad thai is burstIng full of flavor. The chicken is tender and the noodles are so yummy. The crunchy Tim drum chicken curry is fantastic. The seared crunch definitely adds flavor. I loved the curry flavor as well, it comes with two cups of rice on the side. Job well done! The only thing I didn't like was that it was a tad too pricey for only two meals, even though it certainly is worth it. I will be back. read more

Was in the area & on a whim decided to stop in here for lunch. What a surprisingly tasty choice! The restaurant is set up fast food style - there's a giant menu above the cash register which is where you order & then are given a table topper for someone to bring your food when ready. I ordered Sing Chow Men, veggie spring roll, sriracha mango sidewalk slider & a fountain drink. The slider was a crunchy chicken sandwich slathered with sriracha & had jalapeños on it. Spicy & tasty. My Chow Men was basically a delicious version of Singapore noodles- thin rice noodles & assorted veggies & chicken seasoned perfectly with curry & other spices. They had Thai iced tea as a fountain drink option & boy was that yummy too! Fairly sweet so I added ice to dilute it. Ever since I moved to Atlanta I've always missed a really good Thai restaurant who has amazing Penang curry, and after I've dined here I think my search was over as I've found my fav Thai restaurant in Atlanta!!! Definitely better than Tuk Tuk as well in terms of prices and overall service!! This location is in a shopping strip so there are tons of parking around it. As you walk in, you're warmly greeted by the cashier who takes care of you right away and also helps you choose what to get depending on what you're in the mood for. Also, YAY to no lines!!!! (I went 15 mins before closing time though..) As I said, I was on a hunt to find the best Penang curry so that's what I opted for, without looking much. All entrees are around 8-9.75$ which I thought was a bargain! I had ordered Penang curry with steamed rice (spice level 3/3) along with one crab and cheese spring roll. Food arrived in less than 7 minutes which was a surprise! Best part? Their portion size is HUGE! One is good for two people or two meals! The curry had all the ingredients perfectly and unlike other places, I could taste the coconut milk!! Spring roll was great too for its value! I WAS SO HAPPY!!! I hadn't had Tin Drum in a while, and wanted to treat myself to fast food since I don't have it often. After this experience, I was left wishing I went with my first inkling to go to a chicken joint instead. Firstly, the chain was out of tapioca for their milk teas, and the only option they had was aloe vera. Despite being disappointed, I understand that it's a supply chain issue, and it's not their fault, so I didn't really think too much about it. However, I still decided to order the firecracker cauliflower as takeout for lunch. I sat on the side and waited for 10 minutes minimum, and even thought at a point they forgot about me. I think my only saving grace was an employee who saw me when she went to restock drinks. Even though they were out of boba and I was a bit late to work because of the food taking a while, I was still excited to eat what I ordered. When I sat down to eat, though, more disappointment ensued. Firecracker cauliflower (at least at the Roswell location) is put in a fairly large container for to go orders, and it's more than plenty for a meal, but this time it was in a small black disposable container which was visibly smaller from the usual container I've received the food in. I felt like I was somewhat scammed because I paid $8 for a container maybe the size of a 4x4 box. To rub salt in the wound the cauliflower was not tossed in the sauce all the way around, making it almost dry. It's safe to say while I love Tin Drum I won't be returning to this location, and am quite disappointed with my experience. read more

I have been patronizing this restaurant for about two years. Yesterday my pickup order was absolutely the lo mein noodles i have ever eaten . The noodles were mushy.
