Not surprisingly, her office is still super clean and organized. It had been a few years since I last visited. She also uses the latest and greatest equipment which even my dentist in Pasadena doesn't have or use. Dr Adina presented me several choices to help me with my sleep apnea (Somnomed, TAP and Panthera). Ended up deciding on the Panthera classic. The device is super light and is the smallest amongst the other companies. Fitting was straight forward as Dr. Adina took digital impressions which was awesome as I didn't have to have my mouth full of plastic trays and impression material. My dental appliance arrived in less than 2 weeks. Will hopefully be able to create a more peaceful environment so that my wife won't have to sleep next to a "raging bear" at night anymore.

However, my latest treatment--a crown replacement after my previous crown broke apart--was far more complicated and stressful than expected. The process involved multiple visits: First visit for diagnosis and recommendation to get a crown. Second visit (10 days later) for the procedure and temporary crown. Third visit (2 weeks later) for the permanent crown, which didn't fit properly. Measurements were redone and a new crown was ordered. Fourth visit (7 days later) for the permanent crown fitting, where I was asked to pay $60 more than the original quote. Fifth visit after I experienced significant gum swelling and discomfort around the crowned tooth and nearby teeth. The swelling happened during Thanksgiving while I was on vacation, with the office closed. I had to wait until the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to be seen. In the meantime, I was in pain and ended up visiting another dentist who saw me out of pity, because I didn't have an appointment. He couldn't treat me fully, because of no appointment, but he took my x-ray, gave me antibiotics and shared his opinion, mentioning concerns like "microleakage" and "buckled tooth," which raised questions about the crown fit. When I finally saw Dr. Liberto, I was told the crown was fine and the issue might be a root canal infection or food impaction, and was advised to get a deep cleaning of the teeth with the infected gums, for which her office quoted ~$200. While the office did reorder the crown, the number of visits, the timing of complications, the holiday disruption, and the added cost made this experience stressful and inconvenient. I can't say for certain what caused the inflammation, but the fact that it started right after the crown fitting--and another dentist raised concerns--makes me question the process. Overall, this was far more time-consuming and costly than expected.

I have been to see Dr. Liberto on two separate visits to fill cavities. Both experiences were the worst experiences I have ever had with a dentist in my entire life. I will break it down for you: 1) Poor bed side manner (I don't appreciate being told I am too nervous and that's why I feel her drilling into my cavity. I have had several cavity filled with zero problems before coming here. I also don't appreciate hearing the dentist speak of other patients in a negative manner). 2) Condescending 3) Lack of compassion in her care for myself as a patient (Continuing to drill into my cavity while still experiencing pain/the max amount of carbo had not been given). 4) Lack of sympathy (I was never completely numb/instead I was told I had anxiety). 5) Impatient (she was rushed and it was apparent, there was no time to complete the 2nd cavity she was drilling on leaving me with part of my tooth looking like it was standing on a stilt. As a registered nurse with a masters degree, I know what acceptable care is, this dentist doesn't cut it! The care I received was appalling & absolutely unacceptable. I forgot to mention I developed an infection from my first visit, this was the first for me. I can't imagine how other patients have been treated. I was able to find another dentist who fixed my half drilled on tooth that she left with ZERO PAIN. I will never recommend this dentist to anyone.

(He nearly fainted at the sight of my disgusting scrap of a tooth left underneath, but that is another story). I called my regular dentist and left a message on his emergency line. The next day I still hadn't heard from my regular dentist and his office was closed. So, I went on Yelp to find a dentist nearby and was really impressed by Island In the Hills Dental Office's reviews. I called and was greeted warmly over the phone. Although the office was closed, Dr. Tran had stopped in to do some paperwork and answered the phone herself! I told her what happened and she told me to come right over! When I arrived, Dr. Tran was courteous, and put me at ease. Dr. Tran quickly found my insurance and was able to look at my medical record to see the history of that tooth. We took an x-ray and it looked all right. Dr. Tran had the crown put back in no time. Since the crown is over 20 years old and there is evidence that it was leaking, I'm going to get it replaced, but this was the perfect temporary fix before Labor Day.
