Well, it was a good run with you, fam. I don't recall exactly when our little existence began, but I believe it to have been around 2009 or 2010. *a single tear runs down my cheek* We can blame insurance for this breakup since my teeth cleaning that were once free (or close to free, I don't know) now rang in at over $200. A damn shame if you ask me. You see, they no longer take my dental insurance at Dr Bartsch's office but I can pay out of pocket to be reimbursed, and I'm totally fine with that. The catch is that when the bill comes it only covers a portion of what I paid out of pocket during my visit. So, while this is a sad goodbye, it's on great terms. This office has become somewhat of a family that I see twice a year that always decorates the office in theme for the closest holiday. I'm going to miss that, I'm going to miss you all. read more

Just returned from my semi-annual checkup and I realized it had been 10 yrs since I last reviewed Dr Bartsch's office. It's likely been longer that I've been a patient of theirs, but I've taken it for granted how much I appreciate the team there. Always friendly and personable. Looking out for your best interest as a patient. Although the hygienists have rolled over slightly, the care the team puts into your overall well-being is outstanding, best of the best, top notch! It's rare to find a dentist that can't take new clients because their calendar is booked out 6 months in advance. They do take referrals tho.... Keep on Yelp'n! read more

Got the text message from an appointment I made months ago saying that my appointment was for tomorrow. I was like "oh no," since then I've been elected the king of a small Empire. I would need to reschedule I called and the wonderful staff was like "can you be here today at that perfect time where you have nothing to do?" "Yes, yes I can!" And just like that I was seen and my teeth where cleaned. fun fact They clean your teeth they don't wash them and they do polish them. At home you brush them so technically your teeth have never been washed. hmmmmm deep. read more

Christina Bartsch, DDS - Yay doors. - General Dentistry Near Me - San Diego, California

I've been a patient of Dr. Bartsch's since I moved to San Diego in 1999. Wow. I didn't realize it was that long until I just wrote that. Anyway, she has been a remarkable dentist for me for 25 years. I actually looked forward to going to the dentist which are words I've never uttered before in my life. While I did not always get to visit with her during my routine cleanings, her infectious laughter could always be heard throughout the office. There are many times I would have to stop my hygienist in the middle of a cleaning just so I could laugh after hearing Dr. Bartsch laugh. Unfortunately, in these changing economic landscapes, Dr. Bartsch's office no longer takes my Dental Dental PPO insurance so I've been forced to look for another provider. I have to say looking for a new Dentist is a daunting task because I know it's going to be hard to find anyone even close to Dr. Bartsch. I feel I've been spoiled and now have to start all over. After digging through countless Yelp reviews for other dentists, I realized I've never given Dr. Bartsch a review so I thought since I'm counting on others to help me find a new dentist, I should do the same for you. Yes I could still go to Dr. Bartsch, pay out of pocket and then see reimbursement from my insurance, but that can be a slow process and they likely will not cover a large portion of the cost. I understand her need to part ways with some insurances as they are always lowballing businesses to try and save money, but it still SUCKS FOR ME. :-/ Anyway, if you are looking for a dentist and do not have Delta Dental Insurance, reach out to Dr. Bartsch to see if you can become a patient. You will not regret it. read more

Came to this office after it was recommended and I was thoroughly impressed with the level of care here. Both the dental assistant and Dr. Bartsch were incredibly friendly. If you're looking for a dental office and want exceptional service I would highly recommend Dr. Bartsch. read more

Dr. Bartsch and team are the best Dentist group I've ever had. Everyone who I've encountered is so kind and friendly. Dr. Bartsch is very caring and positive. So happy that I found this office. read more

Pandemic had me forced to push back a few appointments, but I had some discomfort that I just couldn't ignore anymore. Dr. Bartsch's office got me in the very next morning and I felt pretty comfortable with all of the safety measures and PPE they had in place. They told me to stop brushing so hard and my gum line would stop receding. Go figure during a worldwide pandemic, right! read more

Three kids, wife and myself have been with Dr Christine's group for 18 years. It's always a fun time to catch up with everyone while getting cleanings or work done. Renee is my favorite hygienist. She is very attuned about keeping me comfortable while working and brightens my day. Dr. Christine is a regular in the office and usually checks in even if it's just to say hi. Costs are reasonable and quality is good! I highly recommend them. read more

Christina Bartsch is the best dentist EVER. She is very sweet. I found her through a coworker from my last company who has been going to her for years. She has great and caring hygienists, and they explain everything you're paying for before you have to pay it, to make sure you are okay with it. They are gentle, and do a really great job. I even drove back down to SD to get a 2nd opinion a couple months ago, because this guy in LA told me i had to get like 5 crows, refillings, etc. Christina told me that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my teeth. I badly need a cleaning but have been fearing to do so, because of these fake LA dentists trying to take ALL the money I don't have. She's the best!! I need to make a drive back down, cuz clearly the prices of gas will offset what money any other dentist here will try to scam me out of. read more

Dr. Bartsch General Dentistry is by far one of the best General Dentist that I've ever been to. To start, almost the WHOLE staff is genuinely happy & consistently caring. It's really the small things that make the biggest difference like giving you shades to alleviate the bright light while working on your teeth, to the headphones they give you to listen to music, or the gentle massage chair they turn on to help put you at ease. The items I listed is just the cherry on top of such a great staff. Which flows down from the owner Christina Bartsch; Kudos to all your hard work & instilling such a great heart & perspective to all your staff! read more

The best in the west. Staff is respectful and I love the ladies.. Gentle, Kind and lots of laughs. God bless them.

I've come here for years, and even when I lived up in LA, I still made the drive to come Dr. Bartsch (although not as often as I should have ). And there's a reason why I stay. The staff is one big happy family, and Dr. Bartsch is cheery, upbeat, and incredibly caring. She's patient in answering all your questions, and makes sure you leave with a freshly polished smile and a cheery mood. You will love her! read more

I'll never go back here again. First off, I waited longer than I've ever waited at a dentist's office. Secondly, it seemed disorganized. Third, and most importantly, an assistant did the cleaning and it hurt, which it shouldn't since I floss every day, plus she actually scraped the enamel off my teeth so that now they are slightly brown and stained where they never ever were like that before. I don't even know if this damage she did is fixable. Fourth, it ended up costing way more than I expected. Fifth, I never even saw the doctor. read more

Well, after 5 years,,,,,we are calling it quits with Dr. Bartsch's office. It seems after not being able to afford our dental insurance anymore, we are plain out-of-luck and cast aside. After emailing Michelle in the office and asking what a cleaning would be, she replied that it would be $307 with bite-wing x-rays. I replied back that we no longer had insurance and that we could not afford the $307 for myself and my husband, which would have cost us $614. Were we offered a cash discount? No. Anything that would help and keep us as patients? Nope. We had to cancel our appts and never got an answer back, nothing, nada, zip. No, 'sorry to see you go'......no....' let me talk to doctor to see what we can work out" NOTHING. So, before you go to this office, make sure you NEVER have to pay cash after losing your insurance, because you are simply a number, a cash register to this office. read more

After a bad experience with a previous dentist (see review on Ana Simerlein), I was too scared to go to another dentist for over three years. I read several good reviews about Dr. Bartsch online, however, and thought I needed to see someone fast and she at least had a fan base. I told the office manager, Lisa, over the phone that I was petrified of the visit and was having painful teeth to boot. She assured me that they would be sensitive to my issues. Were they ever. The wonderful dental hygenist, Christina, took her time and checked with me every step of the cleaning to make sure I was ok. She was incredibly knowledgeable about dental hygiene and you could tell she loves her job. The office staff laughed and kidded the entire time I was there, having a great time with the clients and each other. And Dr. Bartsch was just fabulous. It turned out to be way not so bad after all, although I was angry to find out that the last dentist I had seen, Ana Simerlein, had tried to take me for a dental ride. Dr. Bartsch was too gracious to ever say as much, but I knew what the previous dentist had tried to do. I had almost let Simerlein drill down almost every tooth in my mouth to a nub so she could put expensive crowns on them, and they didn't even need them. Scary! If you have any qualms whatsoever about getting to the dentist, I can tell you from a big chicken's perspective, just go to Dr. Bartsch and tell them you're sensitive/scared/hurting/a big 'ole baby (like me), and they'll totally take care of you. And they've got the insurance billing stuff down, too. Very easy, painless visit. Great office, great hygienist, great dentist. Can't say enough! read more

Love the place - clean, roomy and organized Love the staff - except for a couple of quiet older techs, everyone else is very professional and super nice. They are timely and don't make you wait longer than you need to. The techs take the time to answer any questions and address all concerns. The receptionist is friendly and Dr. Bartsch is nice and gentle. One time I had an appointment but could not leave my dog home, they allowed me to bring my dog in. Initially he was on my lap while I was getting worked on. But the buzzing sound started freaking him out so Dr. CB recommended letting him lose. He happily got down, got out of the room and started saying hi to every one in every room and they were all okay with it. I didn't hear one negative comment. The staff were actually happy to see him roaming around the clinic. 2 thumbs up! read more

If i could give this place 6 stars i could! I just came in today for an emergency check up because my left tooth was in a great deal of pain, less then 10 minutes after I got into the door I was already greeted by one of the hygienists. Dr. Bartsch was really nice, caring, and seemed to really wanted to help me get better, she told the nice receptionist in the front that "this guy needs to go today or tomorrow tell them i said that" wow! which made me like her even more because where i was getting my procedure wasn't even in her location, but she just did it because she knew that i was in so much pain. She told me i had a root canal and as i was still SHI#*#@ MY PANTS because i was scared, she was just really nice and made me feel calm after they called she asked me if i wanted some vikaden to null my pain and i was lik F#*@ YEAH!! haha (THIS IS THE REASON WHY I SAY THEY SHOULD GET 6 STARS) And just right now the really sweet receptionist called me and said that there was something wrong with my insurance and they wouldnt cover my root canal for tomorrow, but she said that she is going to call one more time and see whats wrong and do her best, 45 minutes later she called me and said sorry it took so long but it cleared and i was really impressed that she spent so much time trying to get my insurance cleared. (AND THIS IS THE REASON WHY I VOID WHAT I SAID ABOUT 6 STARS AND GIVE THEM A PERFECT 10) PERFECT 10! read more

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 10/10 Yes! It's all true! I have found a Dentist that is not scary and for me not to dread of coming in to have my teeth checked. It encourages me to come and have those sexy pearly whites I always wanted. Thanks to my follow yelpers I decided to check this dentist out. Her staff I absolutely love! an ALL WOMEN STAFF! im all about women power! Front desk is very organized and friendly and her assistants never made me uncomfortable what so ever. Made sure that I didn't have to endure any pain and didn't have to wait that long at all to go in, not like you're usual dental visits where it takes like 5 days just to get in (a little exaggeration lol) I just had to get my teeth clean and even tho water just splattered all across my face and just for the hygienist to leave my face all wet and my make-up to fall off, she wiped like every so often. They are so sweet and friendly. NOTE: only downfall is they are so good at what they do, that they are booked months in advance. So if you're expecting to see a dentist immediately then you would have to wait and get hope the lisa the front desk to call you on the wait list. read more

It's really hard to find a great dentist especially a clean office with a friendly staff, and a knowledgeable dentist who isn't always trying to sell you something. Well I found one! HERE! Thanks to yelpers! Amazing, friendly staff and Dr. Bartsch is wonderful. Not only that but prior to my first appt Dr. Bartsch's office emails paperwork to fill out so I won't have to waste time coming in super early to fill out paperwork, since this was done I was able to come in 10 min before my scheduled appt @ 4pm and they took me in right on the dot. Double STAR! (Cut on waiting room time, I'm not patient -at all!) I came in for my first appointment for a cleaning and had complained of some pain from my wisdom teeth before hand. Dona who cleaned my teeth was sympathetic of my wisdom teeth and placed some numbing gel for my gums just in case I might experience some pain during my cleaning. Doing this made the cleaning much more tolerable! STAR!! Met with Dr. Bartsch who was absolutely friendly, easy to talk to and very knowledgeable of what I would need to get fixed in the future. Like her staff she seemed to really care about what would be best for me. Knowledgeable dentist AND friendly?! STAR!!! After my appointment the staff were very well informed with different specialists that would be able to extract my wisdom teeth, after telling them which insurance I had one of the ladies instantaneously knew which dr. to recommend. Not only is he located in the same building they even called to set up a consult meeting for me. STAR!!!! (bc I'm lazy and having someone schedule an appt for me makes my life much easier) FYI They only take PPO and there is a $60 charge if you do not give a 24 hr cancellation notice -Not deducting stars for this :) read more

WOW going to the dentist can be painless. I recently went for a deep cleaning and barely felt any pain not even from the shots and i got a few Love it here, love the staff. Lyndsey(hope that's spelled correct) is very good at what she does. She had the honors of giving me my first deep cleaning and she did it with such ease and barely any pain She gave me a few shots in the gums to numb me & those felt like tiny pinches! I love it here and I love the staff including Dr Bartsch. They are all so friendly and helpful it's amazing This was the first time I've had shots and I was really worried leading up to it but Lyndsey make feel really comfortable and calm. She answered all my questions and made me feel at home considering I was under a bright light with sharp objects digging into my teeth Everyone working there is soo cool it's unbelievable I will continue to come here forever! read more

I actually found out about Dr. Bartsch through.......Yelp! Haha. So, I called this past Tuesday morning and they had a few cancellations so offered me two slots that same day - otherwise I'd have to wait a few months because they are booked solid. I went in and the immediately felt comfortable. The ladies at the front desk are awesome. One of them even emailed me the initial client intake forms a few hours before my Appt. which expedited things. I think I was in a cleaning chair within 5 minutes of me showing up. Nice. Lindsey cleaned my teeth and was an absolute gem. Easy, fun, and a conversationalist. The whole experience was painless and....gulp, I actually wouldn't have minded staying in the chair an extra 10 minutes. Odd - I know. Then Dr. Bartsch game in. Wow. Pretty awesome herself. She is down-to-earth, funny and intelligent. I can't stress how great an experience this was and am looking forward to my next visit in 6 months. Again, odd, right? Oh, I have to admit I was a little skeptical about all the high Yelp reviews. I mean, they get ALL 5's. I asked the front desk, and the gal was like, "Yea, we didn't even know what Yelp was until a few months ago but we've been getting all these people who come after they find us there." They were pretty genuine about it and after my visit I can see why the reviews are so good. read more

If you're feeling like a million pieces of chewed up gum splattered across a New York street... stomped over by millions of dirty shoes and paws and wheels... if you're feeling like complete crap cuz your cheap metallic filling (not one... TWO of them from two different teeth!) fell out as you were flossing... then maybe you kno the fear and root-canal-anticipation I felt when I came here for the first time. The people here are so optimistic and positive you'd think laughing gas was being released through the vents! turned out I didn't need a root canal - WHEW! but i did need a few fillings. I must say, Christina and her staff made me feel as close to a million bucks as I possibly could feel today. Everyone was shamrockin' St Patty's Day scrubs, bright smiles and friendliness radiating even through the telephone as I asked over and over for directions... my brain was so fried from getting 3.5 hrs of sleep the night before. And guess what? I took a nice nap as they drilled away at my teeth! I left with half my face numbed up all the way on one side which made me look like Two-Face from Batman when I tried to talk, but I didn't care. It was all done with love. L-O-V-E read more

I can't believe I'm about to give 5 stars for a dentist, given that I want to impale myself on a stake every time I think about dentistry, but Dr. Bartsch is the best dentist I've ever been to. I've been traumatized by dentist visits before, which causes me to not go for periods up to ten years at a time, but she's honestly the sweetest, most gentle, lovely person who's ever had their fingers inside my mouth. Lyndsey, her dental assistant, is fantastic as well. They both very much understood my terror of dentistry and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. The 6 Xanax' I took right before walking in the door didn't hurt either, I suppose. Just kidding, I only took 2. And now when I go I don't have to take any because I am 97% sure that they're not trying to kill me any more. read more

I do like this dentist and her staff, but the scheduling is impossible. I guess they are too good and popular. If you are the type of person who can make an appointment six months in advance and NEVER NEED TO CHANGE IT then this would be a 5 star recommendation. However, if you need some flexibility on scheduling, want weekend appointments, want to change an appointment less than five months in advance, I really wouldn't recommend this office. read more

Dr Bartsch and her staff are awesome! Everyone is super personable and helpful. They make you feel like family when you are there! I just had my first appointment with Dr. Bartsch 2 days ago and I can't say enough how awesome it went! Now who says THAT about their dental appointments???? I haven't been to the dentist in F-O-R-E-V-E-R, so I was a little scared about even making the appointment, but once I got on the phone with her office staff, they put my mind completely at rest. When I got off the phone, I was excited about my appointment. Dr. Bartsch's staff from front office to her hygienists are so, so friendly and you can tell that they truly care about each and every patient that walks thru their doors. As one reviewer said, they are non-judgmental about your dental health. They care about you getting the treatment and help that you need for your teeth. Dr. Bartsch herself is extremely friendly and full of energy. I already felt at ease after spending time with one of her hygienists, but after my conversation with Dr. Bartsch, I was confident that I had made the right choice in coming to her office. I found Dr. Bartsch through Yelp after taking a look around at the other dentists that were covered through my insurance and she had the best reviews on Yelp and other places on the web. Hopefully my review will pay it forward to someone else that's searching for a fantastic dentist. I absolutely can't wait for my next appointment! read more

This place is fantastic! Once you go here, you'll never go to another dentist again!! I was impressed from the first phone call to make an appointment -- the office staff is very friendly and they make you feel like home. I've gone to other dentists and they both recommended the "deep cleaning" that costs over $500 -- Dr. Bartsch just recommended a regular cleaning. The hygienist that performed the cleaning, was very professional and gentle. I was in and out in less than an hour. The downside is you'll need a PPO plan to go here -- but I've learned it's well worth it and I'll never go to another HMO dentist again. read more

Growing up, our family friend was a dentist. So I always went to the same dentist for everything. They were nice and courteous, but then I moved to San Diego and I was ripped away from the only, gentle dentist I had ever known. Luckily for me, my apartment mate had been born and raised in San Diego and she referred me to Dr. Bartsch. This woman has endless amounts of energy! She is always smiling and fun and remembers what is going on in your life (which mine is always changing so its soooo fascinating) and the service is great! The front counter people are always nice and willing to work with billing my mother for my services (that's another story) and the hygienests are nice and don't try to floss your jaw (yeah some of you know what I am talking about). Overall, I highly recommend this dentist, she has now started seeing a lot of my close friends because I only refer them to the best, and even though my insurance doesn't cover her, I still keep going to her. read more

I've been going to Dr. Bartsch from the time she starting practicing and I agree with another reviewer that she's the cutest dentist in the world with the most distinctive voice not to mention she is a great at her craft. She's darling and a pleasure to chat with. I once asked her what the verb was for describing a dentist's work and she said it was called practicing dentistry. I then asked her how much longer was she going to practice before she got it right and told her it should be called dentaling to which she started singing 'a dentaling we will go'. :-O Kudos to her, her assistant Rose and the rest of the staff! read more

I have to subtract a star... I guess they are popular, but it makes it seriously hard to get an appt. They canceled my appointment when the hygienist was out sick. I asked if they had another hygienist filling in, but they said they no. That's fine, I understood, but they couldn't reschedule me for three months! Seriously? I asked to be on the cancelation list... but it didn't work that great, because they offered me this one time, which I couldn't take, three times. ha! The real kicker? When I finally got in, they substituted a random hygienist at the last moment. If only they could've done that for my original appointment... sigh. read more

What a great dental office! Ever since my first appointment with Dr. Bartsch in the spring of last year, my experience here has been exceptional. After some unanswered phone calls, a few early morning appointment times, and a little war with my insurance company, I finally parted ways with my old dentist and found a much nicer environment at Dr. Bartsch's beautiful, state-of-the-art office. Conveniently located next to the 5 freeway and excellent in pretty much every respect, this general dental practice should seriously get an award for the professionalism and dedication of the people who work here alone. Combine that with Dr. Bartsch' s many years of experience and world class expertise and you've got a clear winner when it comes to selecting your new dentist in San Diego. read more

I feel lucky to have found Dr. Bartsch. I am one of those folks who did not get proper dental care as a kiddo and am making up for lost years now that I'm older. I have intense anxiety surrounding my teeth/mouth. Her calm demeanor and gentle touch helped alleviate my anxiety. I cannot say enough great things about her and the team. Due to all of my teeth issues, I have been looked at by dental offices as a potential for cash instead of a patient. I went through 5 dentists in the SD area including one that smoked (!!). We will be moving to Arizona and plan to make biannual visits to continue care with her. I cannot say enough great things about her. Highly recommend. read more

I have had some bad experiences at the dentist, but Dr. Bartsch and her staff were amazing! So friendly, helpful and extremely professional! Bed/table side manners are huge to me and in the world of dentists it is sub-par to say the least. But, rest assured I am hooked on the care that Christina and her team gave me. I have been 'looking' for a dentist to go to for over 3 years. I was always disappointed...but I found my dentist!!
