The beds in the Rose and Lilac Rooms are Tempur-Pedic and make for a good sleep if you have a bad back. The little things go a long way here - the inn has cold bottled water constantly available and the proprietors strive to make the guests feel at home. We had an elderly relative along and he used Helen's Room which is the ADA room in the Carriage House - it was perfect for him and all went well. The breakfast is just fantastic. Buzz, our host, was a great host and made sure we were happy. There is nothing like breakfast in the dining room with the fireplace making warmth and enjoying freshly prepared breakfast. No conventional hotel can match this. Buzz also recommended some restaurants and we were most pleased with his recommendation. We really enjoyed Market Street Inn and will return in the future. If you are looking for a great Bed & Breakfast, look no further - this is it. It is worth a special trip if you are traveling on the interstates and looking for the feel of home while on the road. This exceeds anything offered by most hotels on the highway. It is a destination place to stay. I highly recommend Market Street Inn.

Step back in time and experience the Gilded Age…read more Our entire two night, two day stay was extraordinary. Kathy, the Innkeeper, was such a joy to get to know. She served up breakfast each morning with such attention to detail. And her cooking was worth the overnight stay just for the breakfast! Husbands, if you want to impress your wife, book a weekend at The Victorian! The place is filled with antiques, art and living spaces worth exploring. We came to Fairfield on an exploratory genealogy assignment. Lodging at The Victorian on Main took us back to a much simpler time. A time we envisioned how our ancestors may have lived. The truth is, The Victorian on Main, built in 1895, was a mansion compared to the homes of our early agrarian ancestors who lived in Ellery, Illinois just 20 miles away. We felt like honored guest in the home of a close family member.

Right on Main Street in Fairfield, IL stands a grand lady- The Victorian on Main…read more She seems to be a beacon of life and love for her lovely community. One of the longest standing homes in Fairfield, the history and stories she contains are abundant. However, this Victorian is not just a great historical mainstay, but an incredible present and awesome future. The ownership of this grand lady is a family affair- Amy and Scott Boyett, Amy's adorable mom and innkeeper Miss Kathy, Amy's brother and her sister. They have restored and amplified the grandeur of the home. Each room has been designed and filled with amazing furnishings that reflect the past but provide every luxurious modern convenience that you need. During our stay we enjoyed the gorgeous Garden Suite and the Squirrel's Nest. The Garden Suite is located on the second floor. The room is so spacious, plus it has a balcony that over looks Main Street. There are windows across the front of the room, which allows for the perfect amount of natural light. The room also has a bathroom, which they have furnished with STEAM toiletries (so nice!). I loved the cozy king size bed- the pillows and linens were divine. The Squirrel's Nest is located on the 3rd floor. The room is huge. There is a sitting area, which has a very comfortable sleeper sofa. I enjoyed sitting there watching TV, while my daughter worked at the window-facing desk. According to her, it was the perfect workspace. There are lots of windows around the room allowing for lots of natural light. The bed has its own special room- a cozy and imaginatively designed wooden tent. It was created around the attic-like space, and fits perfectly. The room also has its own bathroom. The first floor contains lots of areas to relax and enjoy the company of other guests and Miss Kathy. One of my favorite things about the house was the back staircase. While the front staircase is grand, the back staircase made me feel like the home was mine. Like I knew all of the hidden nooks. To add the icing to our amazing cake of a visit... the breakfast. Miss Kathy serves a delicious buffet style breakfast every morning in the elegant dining room. There are sweet and savory options that are all very pleasing to the palate. During our amazing stay, we enjoyed being able to talk with other guests as well as to Scott and Miss Kathy. Their passion to create a place for people to come and relax really is just the tip of the iceberg. They truly have a heart to care for people. They take the time to create what each guest needs- whether that is a girls' getaway, college visit, or family reunion. They have only been open since July 2019, so they have lots more planned for the property. Jenni and I totally think that you should make your reservation today to have a wonderful stay at the Victorian on Main. I am confident that you will love it and that you will become a return guest, just like us (we are going back in July).

The Fleur-de-Lys is the epitome of a luxurious getaway. Whether it is the quaintly appointed guest…read morerooms or the delightful library and parlor, each area of this former residence is unique and meticulously maintained. While it is not likely the norm, the owners, Mark & Leslie, met us at the front door, quite literally inviting us into their establishment. It was simply the most welcoming manner in which to be introduced to this treasure and Leslie quickly engaged us with the history of the home and how she and Mark had recently become the owners. We chose this destination based upon the significance of the Fleur-de-lis to my love, a native New Orleanian. Given St. Louis' rich French heritage, the mansion was originally outfitted with four chimneys that feature the fleur-de-lis design and the pattern is repeated throughout the home. While we enjoyed a quiet morning coffee in the back of the property, a lovely shaded patio area, she noticed how many places the symbol was present. She actually made mention to Mark & Leslie that they could make an activity out of counting/finding all of the fleur-de-lis around the home. What a fun idea! We were fortunate enough to book the Tower Grove Park room, a spacious room fitted with a king-size bed and a two-person jacuzzi tub. There is even a 'fainting couch' for that extra French touch! The bed was amazingly comfortable and the decor and accoutrements were exceptional, right down to the pocket doors and writing desk. But a B&B is set apart by the fare served in the morning, and this is where Mark, a chef by trade, and Leslie, a self-taught baker, knock it out of the park. That morning's menu included a fruit starter, fresh juice, Leslie's home-baked sourdough toast and home-baked English muffins, and Mark's egg and sausage soufflés with country potatoes. The entire breakfast had us completely over the moon! We felt so at home that we wanted to clear our own place - so we did! The rates are competitive and well worth every moment spent here. There is parking behind the property, as well as across from the property, and each guest is allowed a unique security code so as to gain entry while you are enjoying your stay. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this getaway, and Mark, Leslie, & assistant Sammy made us feel like family from the moment we crossed the threshold. We'll be back - and you should give Fleur-de-Lys a try!

Mark, Leslie, and Lilly were all friendly and kind. Never, have I ever, stayed somewhere for the first time, and felt such a warm feeling of being home. Location is perfect to venture out in any direction. We appreciate our stay at the Fleur-De-Lys Mansion, and highly recommend it as a destination stay spot whenever in St. Louis.
