Had a tire blowout and needed a place. Lucky to find a room at midnight. Nice hotel located off the i-70. Quiet location. Lots of parking. Nice little continental breakfast with sausage added on the weekends. Not fancy but clean and friendly. Rooms and the place is showing its age but is very clean. Bathroom was spotless! But the plug was missing in the sink and the faucet was hard to turn. Bed was comfortable and sheets very nice. Front desk lady was very sweet and they had crunchy chocolate chip cookies out. Stayed here over the weekend for a wedding I was in. Had to ring the doorbell to get anyone's attention, even tho he was sitting around the corner playing on his phone which I could clearly hear. Check in and go to my room - well what I thought would be my room. I open the door and there are other peoples luggage all over, so someone obviously is already checked into this room. I took all my things back downstairs, got a new room and thankfully it was empty. Although they were nice upfront and I do not expect a free stay or anything like that, just something more than "oh sorry" would have really helped ease my anxiety about someone else being able to get into my room later when I left. The room was clean besides the green/pink buildup on the shower head - not something I usually look at but even being 5'1 I could see it when I got in. Also there was duct tape all over the bottom of the bed frame which was odd. All in all wasn't horrible but I would look into an Airbnb if I needed to stay around here again. read more

My friends and I stayed for a night. The pool was broken and we wanted to swim which was unfortunate. It has 3 floors and a casino. The casino, vending machines, pool, gym, and laundry room are on the first floor. I saw no bed bugs and the room was clean. I'm in a wheelchair so I didn't use the beds; but my friends rate the pillow and mattress 5/10. The mattress was firm and the pillows where just a standard size, they look fluffy but are flat. The breakfast was 4/10. They had juice, cereal, bagels, muffins, waffles you have to make yourself, average coffee, and toast. I wouldn't stay here again. The place looks/smells like a nursing home and it was over priced for what it was. Room service knocked twice within 2 hours while we were getting ready. That was a bit annoying. We still had an hour until checkout. The older lady at the counter was very nice. 10/10 for her. read more

This reservation was made for us and also one for our brother and sister-in-law. When we arrived nobody was at the front desk. After 5 minutes there was a line with two other couples and still no clerk. After ringing the bell that was behind the desk (not on top or in plain view) someone finally showed up in a graphic tee shirt and jeans. There is a 3% cash discount. The 'casino' room is out of order. The elevator had a wad of gum stuck on the floor. The room was at the end of the hall. Everything was so dated and worn out it was surprising. The WiFi was very sketchy. He wrote it on the back of the key envelope and it was not a solid signal, would drop (looking for other options to stay- there was NOTHING). The desk chair was covered in crumbs and hair. Our room overlooked trash and a run down apartment building. When we turned on the water black chunks (mildew?) came out. There was blood on the wall. The room had a very strong smell like those air fresheners that hang from your rear-view mirror. It was unpleasant and overpowering. This was making me sick to think of sleeping there and I would have rather slept in the car, but we didn't have one there. We discussed with the others in our party who felt the same. We left after an hour. DO NOT STAY HERE unless you are homeless, in which case you might think it's acceptable I meant to take pictures but in the plans to evacuate I didn't get a chance to read more

I would advise everyone not to stay here. Service was terrible, from one employee specifically. I was stranded in highland after driving through town and having vehicle problems. I got to the hotel around 11 or noon and after being there for a couple hours, I was feeling itchy. I chalked it up to being paranoid about bedbugs in a grimy hotel but really started looking when I saw what looked like bedbug excrement on the bed. I used a magnifying app on my phone to look at the mattress seams and found multiple bugs. I wasn't completely sure the little speck in the picture was a bug until I saw it crawling and moving. I immediately called the front desk to report it and suggested that he come up to see it for himself. His response was that he couldn't leave the front desk due to covid, which was either a lie or he was choosing when he felt like following that rule because I had been either at the desk or walked by it 5 times and had not seen a person once!!!! I had to ring a bell to check in. Just please don't waste your money. The place was dirty and disgusting. read more

If you love complete strangers having access to your room whenever they want, this is the place for you! We stayed here for a friend's nearby wedding. Everything was mostly okay at first glance and it was just a place to stay for the weekend after the rehearsal and reception. When we came into our room that night, it was more humid than it was outside because the heat was turned on and by the feel of it, had been turned on for some time. Annoying, but not dangerous or earth-shattering. The room never quite got cold, even after we switched to the AC but whatever - again, just annoying and not even a big deal because we weren't in the room most of the time. The next night was where it all went downhill. One of the other wedding guests staying on the 2nd floor came back to her locked room to find toilet paper strung up everywhere, the furniture moved all around, and some other trash scattered around like confetti. Oddly enough this wasn't a unique design choice by her and even odder, the room hadn't looked like that when she had left it hours earlier. ODDEST of all, her room was definitely locked when she left and was still locked when she came back. Ghouls? Poltergeists? Imps? Who could have done this. She went to the front desk to see if anyone else would have had access to her room and the guy behind the desk replied that she came to the desk when she had lost her key and he had issued her a new one. Which is strange, since she had been with us for the last few hours and had no recollection at all of losing her key or asking for a new one. What could it be now? A doppelgänger? Has she learned to project her being in two places at once? As it turned out, the front desk person had issued a new key to COMPLETE STRANGERS who were staying at the same hotel and also attending the same wedding. Never met these people before. These people had never met my friend before. And yet somehow they moseyed on down to the desk and got a key to a stranger's room with seemingly no trouble or questions at all. Luckily none of her things were taken because these drunk buffoons just wanted to throw some toilet paper and really leave their mark on the world. How did we find the culprits? Because they were drunk, carrying toilet paper, and literally told us. I have a fear of things like this so I always bolt the door on hotel rooms that we stay in once we're in for the night. And good thing I did that this time, too, since we had someone try to get access to our room at 8am the next morning and the top security hinge lock stopped the door. Whoever it was went down the hallway and was gone by the time we opened the door. Could have been cleaning but what cleaning service starts at 8am and doesn't knock or announce before coming into a room? I would literally recommend sleeping outside in the parking lot rather than stay in this hotel. Oh - and the hotel was on fire when we arrived. No fire alarms going off on the floor we were on, just smoke coming out of the elevator and a guy who said, "Oh.. yeah, you should probably go outside." Tight. read more

Worst stay ever. Just stopped in while traveling through and needed a bed and shower. Bed was ok. Shower was NOT ok. When I asked the guy at the desk(who was nice) he said there was no manager because he was on vacation. This manager should be on a permanent vacation!!!!! Honestly would give this establishment a 0. My mother paid for 2 hotel rooms in March of 2024, come end of July 2024 the hotel only acknowleged one room in our reservation. I showed the desk clerk both reservation/confirmation codes and also where the hotel pulled the payments from my mothers baking account in March.. She stated she would talk to her manager, and then reach out to us. It is now 3:00 am and we have yet to hear from anyone and have now paid for two rooms when we received one. read more

I've stayed here 3 times. First time room was clean and breakfast pretty good. Second time (six months later) room and bathroom were kind of dirty and breakfast was frugal with no attendant around to clean up diners messes. This time (8 months later) room was just okay with toilet that wouldn't flush and sink that wouldn't drain. Desk clerk was nice and gave us another room but that wasn't my complaint. My problem was the cost was the same as the first two stays but NO breakfast and no Free coffee and the pool closed yet the price remained the same. I know I know Covid and all but that's no excuse for overcharging. Shouldn't the prices be reduced to reflect the now almost non-existent motel accomodations? read more

Where do I start with this place, no one at the desk to check in. The room smelled like wet dog butt and the carpet was not only stained but absolutely filthy. The sinks had more mold under the rim which is reminiscent of the condition of the whole room. The room made me physically ill, stay away from this run down dump if you're smart!!! read more

Welcome to motel HELL. Night 1 was ok other than the clerk couldn't be bothered to write down the internet access code. Night 2 got back at the end of a hard day moving and NO MAID SERVICE. Also they apparently change the internet access code EVERY DAY. I guess internet access security is a big deal in the cornfields. Night 3 again no maid service and a new WiFi code. I called down to complain and they gave me some bullshit about no maid service because of COVID but for $100 a night I want my fucking sheets and towels changed. This is the only hotel I have stayed in since the COVID hoax that didn't change my sheets. I will never use Baymont again. I travel all the time in major cities but Baymont in Nowhereville IL has apparently been a major COVID hotspot? Really? Seriously? On Wednesday morning (day FOUR) I ran into the maid in the hall and they said that they only clean the rooms by request. And I said well I have been requesting my room to be cleaned repeatedly and they told me they couldn't do it because of Covid, and then she proceeded to tell me that they were shorthanded. I pointed out that was not my problem and for $100 a night they should hire more help. So I have been told three different stories as to why there's no maid service in my room, the first day they forgot the second day they don't do it because of Covid and the third day if they don't do it unless we requested. The attitude of the maid was unbelievably surly, I can't believe they would hire such a miserable person to work in customer service field. Maybe if one learns to read and write they won't have to clean hotel rooms for a living. read more

This place is awful! It recently changed ownership and is no longer a Wyndham property. Unfortunately, it is the "only show in town." If you have to visit Highland, Illinois, make room in your plans for travel from another hotel, whether in St. Louis or another city nearby. The room was musty, housekeeping failed to clean the room - even when the staff assured us the room would be serviced. The complementary breakfast is awful. We had to stay two nights, but found a quaint breakfast place in town rather than subject ourselves to a second day of the hotel's excuse for a breakfast. Don't bother complaining to the staff because they seem not to care what you think. On a "positive" note, one of our travel companions found only one dead cockroach in his room. I'm rating this place pretty highly simply because they exceeded expectations and I have no complaints. We needed a room en route to Missouri and found this place had one available for a more than fair rate at the last minute on the 4th of July. It's a bit off the interstate but worked perfectly for us, gave us an evening to relax. The rooms are good size, the AC works great and was set suitably cool on her arrival, there's an in room fridge, the pool is a good size and well maintained. Check in and out was fast and friendly, the free breakfast was adequate. The beds were very comfortable, they sprung for quality pillows. Everything was incredibly clean and the place was very quiet. You're near restaurants and shopping if there's anything you need. As a bonus we caught a pretty spectacular firework show out our window from the nearby town. read more

This is a nice, inexpensive place. The service though is really exceptional. The front desk ladies are all very sweet and cordial. But I had to write this review because the one front desk lady Olivia was amazing today. My son got sick in our room. Since the housekeeping staff already went home she cleaned it up herself, and with a smile. Her calm and friendly demeanor in the face of that awful task was really impressive. We were there 30 minutes prior to check-in and couldn't check into our rooms because 3:00 is check-in time. I asked if the rooms were ready and she said yes, but check-in is at 3:00. I asked for a manager or supervisor and she said she was the only one there. We had a wedding to get to and needed to change for the wedding.
