I can not BELIEVE what a buffet we have had!!! My daughter's room is on the 3rd floor and it is equally nice. The breakfast buffet in the morning is, quite possibly, the BEST and nicest we have seen at a hotel in a LONG time. I can't imagine what else they could do to make it more appealing! The halls are quiet and calm, you can't hear any noise from rooms on either floor. The pool is indoors, and it is clean, doesn't burn your eyes whatsoever, and it doesn't take you out from chemicals when you walk in. The gym is really nice, and I loved having a spot to relax that was just for me. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again. If you are traveling and need a nice, calm, yet fun (pooll and gym) place to stay, I say this is your place! Fire manager! Fire cleaning crew and front desk personnel. I wish I could give zero stars…read more Worse experience at a hotel ever. My wife and I checked in on 01/30/26. When we were going to bed I pulled the blanket and sheets back to find blood stains on the sheet soaked down to the mattress pad. (Nasty and a health issue). I called front desk where we were brought new bedding. When we unfolded we found another stain on a sheet. I called again and front desk brought us more bedding. He offered a new room but we already unpacked amd were in pajamas. I had to make 2 more calls regarding people on 3rd floor stomping, running and slamming doors which never got resolved. It stopped around midnight and started the next morning around 4 a.m. I got up the next morning to shower and found that 2 of the 3 towels appeared to have blood on them. Also found something red on the carpet with toe prints. My wife and I went down to eat breakfast on 01/31/26. After eating we approached the dayshift clerk a female. We explained our issues with her. She stated she would get us a refund. She stated she would send it to the manager. I told her my wife wanted to shower but since two of them had what looked like blood on them we were out of towels. She went in the back and brought towels to us. I spoke with Experian and an employee by the name of Robert Heinlein. His story and Experians story were different. Experian stated I was being denied a refund with Robert stating he still needed to talk to the manager and that he will be back Wednesday. On 02/04/26 I had to call the manager Jack Leonard. I explained the situation and he didn't seem to care. I told him how nasty it was to have blood on the sheets and on the towels. Jack told me his employee never offered the refund which she did. Jack believed her making me feel like he was calling me a liar. I told him his employee was lying. Jack got upset I was saying that about his employee. I told him when someone lies they are a liar. Jack told me he wasn't doing anything for us because they offered another room. I had to explain to him we wouldn't have needed anything if his cleaning crew weren't putting blood stained sheets on a bed. Jack was less than helpful and just argued with me. The argument got heated and I told him his employee lied and he wasn't much of a manager for this. Jack never apologized for this and made it out it was our fault and not the hotels. I told him review their cameras when we spoke with the employee in question. We will never visit this hotel again and for everyone I would stay away from them. You don't treat customers like this and it's their fault. Just to be clear we never asked for a refund it was offered to us now they are renigging on it. I also filed a complaint with corporate and the BBB will be next.

Just want you want out of a value stay. They only had one USB port near the night stand. The breakfast was pretty much like everyone else's. There was plentiful parking as well since there wasn't a lot of people here. Checking it was an easy process and they had items and their food pantry but their selection was very minimal and Bare Bones and if there was something that you liked it was absolutely expensive. The hotel looks like it went under a remodel recently and it looks great in the lobby and in the hallways but once you're in the room it might be a different story. The shower was poorly put together with a sliding doors one of the doors was stuck the entire time in the shower all the other one nearly fell off the track. It felt like they rushed the remodel. Beds and amenities here are pretty nice. I realize that there was a loud breathing sound and I was trying to figure out where it was coming from. At first it sounds like Darth Vader was around the corner but actually this room has a very loud mini fridge. I had a nice nap so I decided to go downstairs to have some breakfast . It looks like the person that was supposed to make breakfast didn't show up so breakfast was being rushed 30 minutes late . They had some of my favorite selection like the red skin potatoes but the sausage that was made was terrible! Nearly the entire batch was burnt and unedible. Overall, it was not my best stay here.

The guests next to us had the TV volume up to 100. So while we had a place to crash, we didn't get a good night's sleep. The breakfast had potential but everything is hand-bagged or repackaged in the "kitchen" including the bagels, bread, cream cheese, butter, etc. Also had eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles but didn't try them based on the condition of the kitchen which is visible beyond a thin curtain.

In Alton there isn't much to choose from. For a decent hotel you'll have to drive to St. Louis which is 30 minutes out of my way for meetings. Once I booked it, I got a call from one of the owners, Jim, who asked me about my tea preferences and what he could do to make my stay there more comfortable. I was ecstatic. Tea and antiques! Once I got there I was blown away at the detail they put to maintain a long gone era of Victorian décor. Everything was carved and commanded a presence of luxury. Also, I immediately notice how calming and quiet it was, which was a pleasant surprise! I really dislike loud noises of any kind (high anxiety here), and I felt peace in this place. Jim helped me take my luggage to my room and even gave me a tour of my room outlining all the details and amenities just in case I wasn't sure. My room was absolutely gorgeous! There was an 8 or 9 foot tall carved teak armoire, a great size bathroom with separate shower and bathtub and homemade lavender infused bath salts his wife made! I took a bath every night and I felt like a queen! I was ecstatic. There was even a separate antique vanity strategically placed in the corner of the room right in the middle of two windows so that light would surround it evenly. It was fabulous. I enjoyed all the attention to detail. They made sure a guest would not need a thing. The bedding was perfect. Down comforters and down pillows and cotton sheets, none of that microfiber nastiness. It smelled and felt like home. The most important thing was the food! They had a tea station in the dining room for 24/7 use. And the kitchen was open in the morning for breakfast. Tea, oatmeal, bagels, fruit, eggs. Perfection! I would've been happy with just the 24/7 tea station. And let me tell you it was just bliss to be able to obtain some decent tea and hot water at any point throughout the day. I am HUGE tea drinker! And this was the reason I fell in love with this place. There was also coffee and their own brand of tea which was also quite delicious. They even had stevia if you didn't want the 5 other choices offered for sweetener. On the other side of the dining room there was a station for CHOCOLATE! I was a mess. They were all carefully placed in crystal dishes with the flavor or type of chocolate being offered just above it. Just shoot me. It was amazing. Sadly, I stayed here for less than the time I actually booked it for since I had a cancelled flight and rushed to book something earlier as a result of the airline. I was in such a panic to leave that I left my very expensive leather backpack in the room and didn't notice until I was already at the car rental location. When I called over I spoke to Jim and he went to my room to locate it and said he would overnight it to me as per my request. It contained not only my laptop but also my house and car keys! I was distraught, but knew Jim would take care of it as he had taken care of everything else while I was there! Overall the price was more than fair for the room. Cleanliness 1000%. Quiet. Beautiful.
