I have used Time Shred in the past when I had my office and everyone was always so kind and professional. The driver who came today even remembered me, which truly meant a lot. When I called the office, the staff was pleasant and helped me right away, just like I remembered. Unfortunately, my recent experience did not meet the high standard I had come to expect. I was not informed of the price or given a quote in advance. In the past, I was simply billed after the service, so this process was new to me. I understand that prices may have increased over time, but the way the situation was handled felt disappointing. When I spoke with the staff, the tone became dismissive. I asked to speak with the owner for clarification, but my call was never transferred. It truly saddens me to share this because I have had wonderful experiences with Time Shred in the past. An incredible purging this morning.... I had an excess amount of unnecessary papers and files to shred (approx. 150 lbs) and I called around and found a great company called Time Shred to help me. They send a man right to your door and have a 96 gallon container (which holds up to 300lbs). I posted this on my "building link" and received over 5 replies. One of my neighbors had about the same amount of papers so we shared the expense (about $ 100.00 per person). They load your papers onto the truck and you watch on the monitor and witness it all being shred in about 10 minutes! They give you a certificate of completion at the end. This is the most inexpensive, hassle free and secure method of shredding in bulk, ( I researched many options before doing this). Absolutely top-notch service. Arranged with the Queens office a one-time on-site purge for years worth of "why did I keep those papers?" shredding. The cost is very reasonable when you consider not having to sort and shred a whole lot of stuff. I called TIME shred services cause I got boxes and boxes of old files of papers that have past the allotted time so I don't have to fear the IRS . I made the appointment for 1pm and the 2 guys and the shredding truck were on time. I have 22 boxes of plenty of papers that needed to be shredded and I made it easy by having all the boxes by the sidewalk so all the guys had to do is grab each box and empty each one into the paper eater located on the middle side of the truck .rates are reasonable and guys were fairly quick as the whole job took less then 15 minutes . Now I have plenty of needed space in my storage room and maybe I can make my staff happy by putting a sofa in the free space so they can take turns taking naps during their lunch break. Two interactions with this company so far: 1. Scheduled for a Monday pick up. They called on the day (Monday) that the truck broke down and promises the next day, which is a Tuesday! Tuesday almost ends and it passed the time they say they will come, so I called. Either I could not get an accurate answer or no one picked. I had to call again on Wednesday morning about the issue and they told me I was not scheduled for a pickup. Well, of course, I was not scheduled for a pickup on Wednesday! It was scheduled for Monday and latest Tuesday. I had to call multiple times to get an answer to a point that even my supervisor became frustrated. 2. Called on a Friday to schedule a bin dropoff for a Monday. During the whole conversation, I at least mentioned the dropoff for Monday THREE times and at the end when I say I need it before 5 PM, the lady said we cannot dropoff today (meaning on Friday). SERIOUSLY? The extra star was for the nice driver who came to pick up and answered all my questions. read more

Called yesterday after a friend gave me the referral. Truck arrived today with 2 uniformed, extremely polite individuals to assist. The cost is MUCH LOWER than I paid in either Southern California or Seattle for the same thing. Around ten dollars per good size heavy box of shredding. I almost filled a ten box bin. They let you see the material being shredded right there on the street in their big (and very loud) truck. Safe, secure, no hassle, cheap, polite, easy-to-deal-with. Abysmal. Scheduled a Saturday appointment for 9am. Was told they'd be here between 9-1. 12pm I called and was told it'd be an hour. 1pm I called and was told it'd be an hour. 2pm I called and was told it'd be another hour so I cancelled and rescheduled. Now the morning of my rescheduled appointment- guaranteed to be the first pick up, at 9am. I called at 9:30am and they told me they'd be 1 hour late. Now 2.5 hours later and they still haven't shown. One of the best companies I dealt with. Cheap, efficient, courteous. Professional in every way. My office located in NY needs confidential records of 13 years to be destroyed. This company's price beats the competitors. They were able to do the job THE NEXT DAY. The driver Leley was one of the most pleasant and polite worker I come across. He and two other workers shredded all the documents on site in their mobile truck with a huge industry size shredder. Prior to booking I called several times with lots of questions and always the phone was answered quickly and my questions were answered (thank you Megan!). Next day pick up was offered for whenever I was ready, and when I was ready several days later I called and as promised, they were available the next day. Worst experience ever. Do not use this company. USE LEGAL SHRED!!! LEGAL SHRED IS THE BEST!! Was assured by Joe Schepis, who booked the appointment, that the negative reviews I saw here on yelp about trucks showing up late or NEVER was not the case. ANNNDDDD that's EXACTLY what happened. Was given a window of 9am-1pm for arrival. Called at 1:30 to find out where they were, was told that the prior job was running long but that they were on the way, half hour tops. Skip ahead 4 phone calls and 3 hours later: "the truck is now full and will not be coming b/c it has to go back to base and unload." NOT ONCE was a call returned as promised with an updated ETA. NOT ONCE was there a sense of concern about our time or money. NOT ONCE was anyone there who took my call apologetic, diligent, accountable, or even seemingly intelligent. I don't doubt that intelligent people work at this company, however, they seem to leave their brains and their sense of integrity in the parking lot. Companies that do business this way are part of what is wrong with this country. Yup. I just correlated a crappy company and the demise of America. That's how crushingly crappy this company is. If I could give negative infinity black holes instead of one star, I would. After wasting an entire day to Time Shred, I called Legal Shred, they showed up the next morning EARLY, and were cheaper. Time Shred is an EXCELLENT service. My mother passed away and it took me well over a year to go through all of her papers and only 10 minutes to collect the bags and shred all of it! After I made the initial arrangement with Joe, I felt secure and safe with the company. The rates for shredding are fair and honest. The staff, including Angela, Megan, and Rosemary are sweet and friendly, very supportive and responsive. Benjamin, the driver who helped me with the bags of papers, is very strong and a real darling. Got an estimate within a few hours of my request, set up an appointment with only one day's notice, they arrived when promised, took about 15 minutes to get the whole job done. Called in for some documents shredding and was scheduled between the time frame of 10AM-1PM. Their guys came in about 12.30PM which was still OK with us. Jamal was friendly and started to load the documents into the bins. We originally thought it would at least be 5 bins. The bins were Huge! The whole documents only took 3 bins! Jamal didn't try to cheat us by not filling up the bins. In fact there were some leftovers on top of the 3 bins that he didn't charge. Good service at affordable price. After giving me the 8 AM time slot, she called at 9:30 to say there would be a delay. Again promised to have them there before 12. Several more calls and they came at 2. Neither of the men were able to come up with a way for me to pay with a credit card despite the fact that I had arranged to do that when I made the appointment.
