We visited Time Flies for the first time last Tuesday and had such a blast!!! They have a great selection of ceramic pieces and paints to choose from. Aileen was so friendly and helpful, and she was kind enough to let us stay an extra few minutes to finish one of our pieces so we wouldn't have to come back the next day. Our pieces were done and ready for pick up by the weekend, and we are so happy with how they turned out! This was such a fun date for us, and I'm sure that coming here would also be a great activity with friends, family, or just alone! (Nothing wrong with quality me-time, right?) We did call ahead to make reservations, which I would recommend since the studio has limited seating and sometimes has private parties. They had a $5 sitting fee, and our pieces were in the $14-16 range. read more

Such a great time!! Went here on a double date not knowing what to expect and we all had the best time! Ceramics were fairly priced, paid the $5 to sit and paint, then we opted to use the glaze paint so we can have it fired in the kiln. Which we picked up a few days late. Another option is to paint acrylic and take home that day. Staff were patient and helpful, they did not rush us even though they were closing. Informed us that if we wanted they would hold our ceramics and we could finish painting another time, which is a nice option. Leave a few hours for this activity! A new favorite spot! read more

I went to time flies for the first time yesterday with a friend. When you first walk in there are soo many pieces to choose from with varying prices. The staff is so helpful and knowledgable and got us started right away. We both took our time finishing our projects and we're so excited to see how they came out. I happened upon Time Flies Ceramics when I had a small piece call it a ring holder that I wanted glazed. I see other reviews some excellent others not so much. This review is from my direct experience. I met Steve and showed him my piece. He was knowledgeable and asked what kind of clay it is made of. Being that I had no clue nor knowing of different kinds, he noted that the Kilim might burst it as there could be air pockets. Hmm yes maybe! He suggested and I took that advice, to sand it and paint it with acrylic and put a clear coat on it. I like acrylic for a few reasons. 1) it dries pretty quickly 2) it is an easier clean up from the water base paint. So, he helped me pick out paints and I sat at a newspaper covered table with plastic and paper plates, brushes and containers of water and a paper towel near by, along with a few other people working on their projects. As each layer dried, I looked around. I had told him I would pay whatever the cost. The fees were posted. I also found a chalk board calendar with schedules and noted information about their monthly raffle. (see pix) If you win, you get to choose one of the variety of items there to work on. He noted also that they regularly get new merchandise. I over heard him say past a phone call that they were getting new chairs. The people there (mostly women regulars) seemed happy working on their projects. It was an evening visit for maybe a few hours.. They have Wednesday nights and other days and times available for children's groups. I finished my little project and he bagged it and charged me a very fair price of 10 dollars. I thanked him for his time and caring. Still there through all the changes the way little local business used to operate and serve the customers in days gone by. Its a little local place that runs a business for crafters who like doing ceramic work. read more

Visit Date: December 6, 2019 My son recently asked me to go to a paint place and the plans I had for December 6 fell through so I looked up some ceramic studios and chose time flies. I was so glad I came here. We had the option of having our pieces fired and ready for pick up at a later date or we could use certain paints and take them home right away. I'm a busy lady and I don't have time for a separate pick up even though I do like the glazed look of the piece after it's been fired, so I opted to use the paints she had that would allow us to take the pieces home right away. We chose 4 pieces roughly the same amount of pieces we chose when I took my son to paint a piece yet the bill worked out to half of what it cost me at paint a piece so I did love that. I don't know if it's because we chose smaller pieces or if the cost of this place is just much better. Ceramic places like this are made for kids and adults, but I appreciated the fact that my son and I felt welcome here. We were painting with a lovely group of older ladies who I think meet at this studio quite often to paint. They just loved my son it was so cute. I think this will be my go to ceramic studio if my son asks to paint and I have some time open for it. read more

TLDR: They ruined our projects and didn't tell us about fees until after we started. I wanted to like this place really badly, but in my honest opinion, I would not go back or recommend this place whatsoever. First off, the instructions and pricing were very unclear. We weren't sure which got fired in the kiln and what didn't. It was never explained. Plus, after we had already sat down and started we were informed of a "sitting fee". Whatever that means. The worst part was that the products we got back were smudged, chipped, and not at all like what we had left. My project was smudged so badly some of the designs are completely ruined. My boyfriend's wound up with a chip in it. We were really happy with the designs we made and were really disappointed with the glaze job they did. If they are going to charge extra for them to glaze and fire it, they should not be ruining the pieces in the process. I would have respected them a lot more if they owned up to it and apologized, but they just smiled in our faces and let us walk out. Terrible business management. It's also a slap in the face that they say they add everybody's finished projects on their facebook page once they are finished, but they never included ours. I guess they only include the ones they don't mess up on. Moral of the story, go somewhere else if you actually like what you make. read more

I recently found a ceramic piece buried in a closet at home that my wife had made many, many years ago. I intended to give it to my new granddaughter but realized that after decades of shuffling around, the piece had broken in a couple of places. I was very upset that this had happened and decided to search around for someone to help. Well, I found Steve and Justine at Time Flies and they were absolutely wonderful. Fixed the piece and repainted it. It came out beautiful. And, on top of that, would not accept a penny for their efforts. A very classy thing to do. Omg what a great little place !!! Masks required and that's awesome. The owner is very friendly and has a excellent selection of things to make ... you can paint with ceramic paint that gets fired and glazed or you can paint and go with an acrylic paint she has brushes and paint and everything you need ( some things may cost extra) it was super relaxing and the time flew by I really had a great time... Time Flies Ceramic Studio was a great experience for me. I was there for a ceramic painting event with a group of friends. The wide selection of ceramic figures and paints was very impressive. Once a figure is chosen, there is a choice of techniques that can be employed, including the use of glaze paints that are kiln fired, acrylic paints and dry brush techniques with acrylic paints, all of which are fully explained by a friendly staff in a most relaxing atmosphere. Terri H., a staff member was especially helpful. I am a collector of gnomes and she pointed out a gnome lantern that was adorable. Terri explained the entire process to me and suggested a brushing technique for the beard. Well, I have to say I was very pleased with the outcome and now proudly display my gnome lantern at home. Some of the more adventurous women in my group choose large, detailed figures. The finished products that I saw were beautiful. Astonishing what you can accomplish when you have talented help. Not sure what this other person (Lisa a) is talking about. She definitely couldn't be talking about Time Flies ceramics. You see I have been to "Time flies ceramics" before on a couple of occasions. Just today I was so busy running errands but really wanted to chill and paint. So when I arrived I was starving and Debbie (the owner) heard me say I was hungry. She then asked if I wanted her to order me lunch. I was so happy and took her up on her offer. Thank you Debbie so much for a great stress free painting experience and getting me lunch. I also might add I had all my own paints and was allowed to use whatever I had with me and also had the opportunity to use her paints and all her brushes on the tables for no extra charge. I would definitely recommend anyone to try this place out. They are extremely helpful and are very clean. I can't wait to go back next week. read more

Time Flies is an absolute pleasure to go and spend some time. There is such a wide variety of pieces to choose from and from beginner to difficult levels, Debbie and her staff are always very willing to assist with anything you need. This is the perfect place to go for a mommy and me date, a girls night out or a regular date night. By the time you are halfway through your project, you'll be scouting the shelves to figure out which you want to do next. The pieces are always changing and unlike other ceramic places I've seen, Debbie's shelves are always fully restocked so your choices are endless. I don't know where Lisa A went but if a business was really rude and pricey - why would she go " a few times " ? I would assume a reputable business would want an honest opinion to make improvements so here goes... Today was my first time, something to do with my 6 year old and also check out a possible birthday spot. I called ahead making a reservation for my child and his friend. I did also let them know I may be interested in a party for my son. When we arrived we just stood there before taking initiative and seating ourselves. Eventually someone came over and said to pick a ceramic piece under $15. There were many to choose from and they were a very nice size. So my son and the other child chose and sat down. We waited again ..finally someone else came over and briefly said pick acrylic which could be taken home the same day or the other paints they could pick up in a week because they would need to put them in a kiln. Okay that was fine but once we chose our paint we weren't told what to do next and I could not identify who worked there to even ask a question. Many woman, most in the back eating and the others talking about their weekend plans. Even our children were asking if they take their own paint. So we took a palette and the boys picked their colors. They put colors on their palettes and began painting their ceramic pieces. About 10-15 minutes later one woman came over and loudly said, "oh you can't use that much paint. We may have to charge for that." I explained that we received no guidance and were not told the procedure for getting paint. I was very taken back by the comment considering this was basically the first time anyone even spoke to us. The children continued painting then another woman came over to us also commented on the amount of paint on the palette. I explained someone already mentioned it. This was a workshop called Spring Break: Kids Day and it was for children to come and paint. This was not a pop in visit and there was absolutely no structure or direction. This event also included pizza and juice. The pizza looked like it was sitting all day and they actually put in the microwave before serving it to our children. The juice was warm and honestly it just felt like a rushed, self service operation. I will be fair and say the children did enjoy themselves but for me and the other adult, it was just okay. Bottom line, I really wanted to check it out for my son's birthday party but after today it's a no. read more

Really fun place, came here a few months ago and will be going back again tonight. You can pick whatever ceramic you want, last time I made an elephant. Two Thumbs Up for Time Flies Ceramic Studio 1047 Hicksville Rd, Seaford, NY 11783. Debbie the owner held a dry paint class Sunday, June 2 of either a chicken or a rooster ceramic piece. The class was fun and a lot of laughs. Debbie went through step by step guiding us through the dry brush paint technique. Overwhelmed at first but her patience along with laughter eased me and others into being confident finishing our projects. Beautiful pieces wonderful afternoon.
