College Hunks came in at almost a quarter of the price. They are bonded and insured, which was a comfort. The best part was, they don't charge by how many people they need - they started with 3 guys, but needed to call for back-up to get it out. They did it, and were super pleasant to work with. We highly recommend!

We hired College Hunks (Naperville, IL) for a local move between two homes that were only about five minutes apart. Before the move, we answered detailed questions about the size of the homes, the number of rooms, and what needed to be moved. Based on that information, we were given an estimate of approximately 6 hours of work and an expected cost of around $2,000. The reality was very different. The move ended up taking approximately 13 hours--more than double the estimate--and our final bill was nearly $4,000. We were told the extra time was due to a two-story walk-up and a blocked alley entrance, but these explanations do not justify such a massive difference from the estimate we were given. The men on the team also did not inform anyone that they were going on break and we have no idea when they started/stopped their break. To make matters worse, several items were damaged during the move: * The back panel of a dresser was damaged. * The center support leg for that dresser was lost. * A small piano was broken. We submitted a damage claim during the first week of May and have repeatedly attempted to follow up. Despite numerous calls, we have received no meaningful update or resolution. At this point, the lack of communication has been just as frustrating as the damage itself. I understand that estimates can change and that moving is difficult work. What I do not understand is how a move can take more than twice as long as estimated, result in damaged property, and then be followed by weeks of silence when a claim is submitted. All we have asked for is a fair resolution regarding the damages and a reasonable review of the charges. Instead, we have been left chasing answers. Based on our experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering this company to get every detail in writing, ask detailed questions about how charges are calculated, and carefully document the condition of all belongings before the move.

Their price/rates are excellent and they do an incredible job. It's evident how much care they put in and how hard they work. I really appreciated their care, communication, and flexibility. I interviewed several companies to manage donations and clean out, ideally performed during the week we would be there. When I met Ralph I got a great vibe and was excited when he said they could begin work the next week and complete the large project the same week. His price was lower and project could be completed quicker than other companies, which was super important given the circumstances. Ralph and his team were friendly, professional and great communicators. They made sure donations went to organizations in line with our values. Importantly they also brought me every potentially valuable piece of jewelry, paperwork, and photos to review before making a decision of what to do. So we felt we could trust them, which was critically important in this situation! I could not recommend Ralph and his team at a Clean Start more highly!!
