We had a very good experience at Timberwolves in Mars Hill. Had lunch with my adult son. We were via snowmobile coming from Mapleton. He had a Pork belly meal that smelled wonderful and had a great taste. I had the special of the day a Fried Haddock sandwich with slaw on the side. Yum yum. Absolute gem of a restaurant. We were traveling through on a Monday and they welcomed us in anyway. The owner opened the kitchen for us for burgers and fries and they were the best burgers we have ever had. Hand made burger patties made these the best burgers we have had in a long time. Took a lunch break from a day of snowmobiling. Easy access from the trail and you can park behind. Just knock on the door and they will let you in or walk around front. Gas station next door too. We had a group of 6 and we all loved our meals. Good selection of beverages too. read more

We go snowmobiling in the area every year and this spot has been on my list. Well I finally made it and had an excellent lunch. The inside is really nice they had nice tunes playing and I instantly knew it was going to be good. The owner and his son are welcoming and it was great talking to them. Brisket was flavorful and the bbq sauce was so tasty I bought a jar to take home. Pork belly was also great and all the sides we had were spot on. My wife and I have talked about stopping in and checking out this restaurant for a while now. We stopped in today and we were not disappointed. I had BBQ Chicken with baked beans and my wife had the deep fried pork belly pieces. The taste was awesome, and the service was top notch and friendly. We will definitely be back often to try out other dishes from the menu. I made a point of coming here based on the good reviews. The prices were quite high for lunch considering the area. The menu was limited. I decided to try a pulled pork sandwich to go. The cost for the pulled pork sandwich served with a side of fries was $18 plus tax for a total of $19.43. The was no option on the menu for just the sandwich. This is way more than I usually pay for some takeout for lunch. It was a late lunch 4pm so perhaps it was the dinner menu. However, if the food was going to be great I was willing to pay more than average for a special meal. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The food seemed warmed up. I have a picture where you can see the fries kind of look strange. The pulled pork was dry and the Barbecue sauce seemed to have been homemade and and some offputting herbal flavor. I am thinking the herbs stay too long in the sauce. Even the bun the sandwich was served in was off in flavor. Anyway I was starving and I didn't end up finishing my meal. Cheese sticks, a cheeseburger with fries and a kids meal costs $45 and they cannot be bothered to include everything. To start off it was apparent that this team was going through an adjustment period and still figuring things out to a degree during the pandemic. Front of house seemed to be a little bit over whelmed. That's not their fault we're all adjusting to this. That being said, Best burger I have ever had. I've never had a burger with a patty that was actually tender and the bourbon sauce was absolutely phenomenal. You could taste each individual part of the burger and it all complemented each other part perfectly. My friend and I drove 3 hours for this burger and not only were our expectations shattered but but we would've easily drove another hour for it. Timberwolves is a must try. Michael and Bobbi are special people with great energy and--importantly, due to the nature of their business--great food. Every time I come in I'm greeted warmly and can consistently expect a delicious meal and a warm conversation. I've had salads, burgers, ribs--all delicious, all served piping hot straight off the stove/grill. The mixed drinks are cold refreshing, the prices are fair. Mars Hill needs Timberwolves. Supposedly one the best burger in Maine. I was very disappointed. Waited over 35 min before our order was taken. There was 2 tables with 2 people and 1 table with 6. They also had one to go order since I arrived. I ordered a standard burger med-rare. After we did order the food did come out quick enough, but my burger was well-done. The wife ordered the BBQ chicken meal. The food was not only not the best burger it wasn't even good. We both didn't finish the meal. I definitely will not be going again. This place is amazing! First off we're greeted by the owner Mike. He's so friendly and nice. You know immediately that he cares and wants you to have a good experience. We ordered the ribeye steak special and 2 burgers. The steak came very rare, just like we ordered. It is probably the best steak we've ordered out in a restaurant in years. Literally. We don't ever order steak out because it is never as good as what we can do at home. The burgers were big and juicy, great buns that weren't too big or dry, and very fresh veggies. My wife and I looked in advance online for a place in the county to grab a lunch. The video on the site really got our attention. We drove extra to get here and this place met and exceeded our expectations. The quality of the food was excellent the portion could have been a bit better for the price, I won't apologize for that comment but that said I will come back to eat here again. Just finished enjoying an excellent meal at this restaurant. Had the pork belly burnt ends appetizer and then the southwest burger - sauce was delicious! My husband had the pickled wolf burger. All the food was amazing and the service was excellent, so friendly! We drove 3 hours just to eat at this place as we had seen they have the best burgers in Maine - it's no lie!. Had passed by Timberwolves several times and had never stopped. We had a wonderful meal. We had the Burnt Ends for an appetizer, which had an amazing sauce. Then had burgers, fries and onion rings, so, so good. The restaurant from the street looks unassuming but it is clean, the staff all had masks on and the space is large with high ceilings, so felt comfortable eating there during COVID. If you're ever up in the northern part of Maine this has got to be one of your food destinations. I do an extensive amount of traveling and have visited many different restaurants including a good share of barbecue restaurants and this by far is one of the best barbecue restaurants I've ever eaten at! The ambiance is fantastic. You feel as though you're eating in an actual log cabin in the wilderness. I visited this place for lunch but with the pool table and jukebox, this looks like a great place for a date or a drink after work. I had the ribs meal with French fries and mac & cheese. The French fries are hand cut and served fresh piping hot. The ribs had their Bourbon sauce that had a nice little kick to it and was fall off the bone delicious. You could taste the freshness of the ingredients they used and great flavors in their side dishes as well. For the quality of the food and service, this place delivers the most bang for your buck. I ate there for lunch and had enough leftovers for a whole another meal. Great food, great service, great value! This is becoming one of my permanent go-to spots for food. read more
