I had an incredible dinner here as a part of a new menu tasting and was completely blown aware. From the stunning views, to the beautiful interior, and variety of unique dishes, it was a truly remarkable dinner. Some stand outs to me were the rolls. Move over Texas Roadhouse, these are the best rolls I've ever had. And that was just the first bites. We had corn about 6 different ways, and as a ceratifed corn head, this was terrific. Each dish was so thoughtfully curated and executed. I can see why this is such an occasion place, but even breakfast the next day was great. The cinnamon rolls are out of this world. The views of the hazelnut fields and all the greenery really feels otherwordly. Truly one of my favorite dining experiences as of late. read more

We absolutely love the Lied Lodge. The staff is terrific. The tree adventure is a must, and the Lodge itself is one of our favorite places to go to. Before Covid timber's restaurant was the best. They had a great buffet, and their meals, even though expensive were worth it. My family and I and our adult kids all went over July 4 weekend. We had a terrific time except for the Timber's restaurant. The food was terrible.. there were 12 of us, and although the service was five stars, we couldn't believe the quality of the food. Not one of us had a good meal, which I know seems hard to believe. I will give one example... Two eggs, potatoes, and bacon. $22. We asked for the eggs over medium and they came over hard. They apologized and brought us two more eggs, both over hard again. Should be simple to make eggs... And why $22? At dinner a couple of my boys ordered steaks medium rare. They were delivered medium well... both of their steaks were overcooked. It was $35 for a piece of meat that was overcooked and the sides were extra. For what they charge at Timbers, you would think you were getting a great meal, but that's not the case. We couldn't eat our deviled eggs; it tasted like an ingredient had expired? We never return food, but we had to send this back. I'm not sure what happened, but five years ago, the restaurant was great. Now it is honestly terrible and overpriced. Timber's, seriously, you need to look at your menu, hire better cooks, and charge a fair price. The Lied Lodge is so great and your staff is terrific, but your restaurant can be better. read more

Had a wonderful brunch, beautiful ambience looking out on the Orchard service was efficient and attentive. New menu items were delicious. Have you ever tried a cider mimosa definitely fit the season mother-in-law had eggs Benedict said it was delicious. My husband and I shared some small plates curry fries were good. The bowl was hard to get to the curry sauce since it was at the bottom and the chips were on top of it however it was very tasty just like to see it a little easier to access. smoked salmon was delicious as well. We have been here twice and have had a great experience both times. Second time around we ordered their shrimp and risotto, which I would get over and over again! Loved it! Timbers Restaurant is located in the Lied Lodge at the Arbor Day Farm. We visited during the annual AppleJack Festival and had a fabulous lunch there. The atmosphere is very woodsy, with a log cabin feel. The servers are super pleasant and helped with any questions we had or recommendations when we asked. They also have an outdoor seating spot on the "deck" area outside of the lodge, which would be nice on a warm day if you want to sit out in the sun. We started with the Bavarian Pretzels, which were super tasty. They came as little soft breadstick style pretzel sticks, with a warm grain mustard alfredo sauce for dipping. I repeat - an alfredo sauce! It sounded so odd when I read it on the menu, I had to order it to experience it myself. I was so happy, I did because I will be dreaming about that Alfredo mustard for ages and wish all of my future soft pretzels had that sauce. In a little funny coincidence, all four in our group ordered the Wagyu Burger. We all had different toppings and preferences, but the server kept everything straight, impressively. The burger was super juicy and a pretty big size (none of us could finish ours completely!) Once we finished, we walked around the lobby area outside the restaurant a bit and it's just a gorgeous little spot. There are tons of seating areas with comfy leather chairs, just trying to make you comfortable and at ease wherever you go at Arbor Day Farm. We frequently visit Timbers, especially for special occasions. The setting is beautiful and very peaceful. Most recently we had reservations for Mother's Day and sadly it was terrible. It was a special buffet set up, so there were several options that we were looking forward to trying...unfortunately the food was bland and cold, the meat choices were tough, and overall the cannolis were the only thing we really would want to have again. It was all right. When we were greeted by the hostess, she asked us if we had a reservation (which we didn't) when I asked if we need one, she said not necessarily in a tone that was pure disgust. We were seated, our waitress took our order, brought our food, and didn't see her again until she brought the check. Going down hill. We have always liked coming to the Timbers lounge, and have had excellent service and food In the past. Recently every thing has changed---higher prices and the food is no longer to our taste, actually, it's quite odd and way overpriced for the community. A steak can cost $65, for example, and it is just average. They are trying to create a high end dining experience, and completely missing the mark. It's mediocre at best. What a disappointment. We have been going to Timbers for years and it's always a destination when we have visitors from out of town. Worst meal I have ever had. The Club Sandwich was a 1/2 inch slab of smoked ham and another 1/2 inch slab of Pork Belly on Focaccia bread. The minute you touched it, it just fell apart. The whole menu was just odd and thought the club would be the best bet. Wrong, it was literally inedible. The hamburger was just that. A burger on a bun. No garnishes, no sides, no taste. My 4-star rating is primarily for the great views, service and price point. Overall, the food was rather average in my book. Located inside the Lied Lodge, I enjoyed both dining in and room service from Timbers. On a very slow Sunday evening, we were able to get seating along the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the grounds with the Arbor Lodge Mansion in the distance. Service was very friendly and attentive and the price points much more reasonable than I would find in Omaha. With regards to food, again average flavor and execution. I would absolutely recommend, but would likely stick with a couple of apps and cocktails. read more

When we visited a little less than a year ago, the menu was excellent and the food was perfect. However, other than service, which was amazing, the new menu was not as good as I had expected. It contained too much variety with too many odd flavor combinations. Another issue was the desert. No desert had any true 'sweetness' to eat, just bland and oddly flavored. The ambiance was good and comfortable. Again, this restaurant used to be an excellent destination for anyone and everyone, but the new menu is not as good with food choice, variety, or flavor. We went to the Easter Brunch yesterday. The table servers did their best and that is the only reason there are two stars for this review. Ribeye with garlic butter was really good, Caesar salad was kind of meh as the romaine was not very high quality. I was really disappointed the end of the meal to learn that after years of having it in their menu and being known for it as a specialty, they no longer have apple pie on the menu. Instead I tried a really sad apple "cobbler" that was very uncobbleresque. A few little slices of apple in sauce topped w a thin cinnamon, flour and water crust. Definitely not worth $8. I could make an infinitely better cobbler at home in the microwave w an apple, some oatmeal, butter and brown sugar for like a dollar. Cobbler should basically taste like fruit covered w crumbled oatmeal cookie and this was def not it. Our server was very good, friendly, and knew her menu. They had changed some of the beers and she rattled them off quickly. Octoberfest beer is really good. I had the beef ribeye. Very good. When I go back I'll have to remember my idea of medium is pinker than the chef's idea of medium. I'll get it medium rare next time. The compound butter on the ribeye was delicious. The only thing I would like better would be if they did a couple ounces less steak and more than 2 bites of potatoes. My wife had the pot roast. She loved it and thankfully, she couldn't eat but about half of it so I got it the next day. It was the best pot roast I ever ate. I have eaten here before and the food is not what it once was. I ordered a prime rib meal @ a reduced price of $32.00 The potatoes were just ok, the asparagus was just ok, and the most important part, the prime rib, though it was a good portion, was a total disappointment !!! It was one of the toughest pieces of beef I have ever had. It was not prime or even choice. It was merely select, like you could buy anywhere. Walmart even has better. When you chewed it, it kept growing in your mouth. I had to be very careful not to choke from not getting it chewed well enough. This meat tasted fine, but should have been ground for hamburgers at McDonalds. Though I agave eaten here before, I don't plan on eating here again, and I would not advise my friends to either. I came with a group of 23 people and I think all 9 with prime rib were very disappointed. A lot of meat ended up in the garbage. read more

Although convenient if you are staying at the lodge, I would take my chance at a restaurant in town. Food was not tasty, my $19 burger was supposed medium but was well done...dry. Soup was over salty and rolls had a freezer burn taste. An overpriced meal that did not come close to meeting our expectations. We did has a very friendly waitress. My wife and I ate here for dinner on 3/3/24. When we first entered the restaurant, we stood at the front for a bit waiting for someone to come up from the back room to seat us. A couple of minutes later someone did show up. We both ordered wine, with my wife having a dry white and me a dry red. Both were excellent. The bread they brought to the table, with whipped honey butter and whipped regular butter was very good. I had the Ribeye steak with scalloped potatoes and a couple of peppers, and my wife had the burger with fries. She loves burgers, and particularly enjoyed this one. It was so big, she could only eat half of it. She also commented favorably on the fries, which were crisp, "as fries should be". My steak was very good. It was served with some garlic butter melting on top of it. The only negative on the steak was that one end piece was inedible (hurt my teeth biting into it), causing me to spit it out on my plate. Basically, the steak should have been trimmed better. The potatoes were just "ok", and they could have just left the peppers, which I believe they considered a side vegetable, off my plate altogether (they were tasteless). The atmosphere of the place was great, as was the service. The pricing was a little on the high side for Nebraska City (I grew up in Nebraska City, so I know of what I speak), but wasn't way out of line for an overall nice restaurant. Sunday morning, we attempted to eat breakfast here. But after we entered from the hotel lobby, and waited several minutes for someone to come up to the front from the back room to seat us, we grew tired of waiting, so we left. If they can't afford to have someone at the front at all times, they should install something to indicate to someone in the back that customers are at the front waiting to be seated. Or, alternatively, they should let people seat themselves upon entering. This situation cost them my breakfast business (but gained Burger King some business, the only other restaurant open at that hour in the morning), and almost cost them my dinner business two days prior. I give this place 3 stars, with my steak, my sides, seating wait time and pricing, preventing them from a higher rating. read more

The building is impressive in its own right, but the dining was very disappointing on a recent visit. Now, I've eaten at the Timber Dining room several times before and it's always been decent (which is what's saving this review from being a one star). I was looking forward to this visit since it would be my first since Chef Thomas Mckinney-Stehr took over in July of this year. It was a difficult decision between the TD Niche Pulled Pork, but how could I not order the BLT? House-cured bacon, fried green tomatoes, kimchi, and bourbon-ginger mustard on a pretzel roll. Re-reading that now, I can see what maybe should have been clues to the explosion of conflicting flavors I was affronted with at first bite. Bourbon? Ginger? Mustard? AND Kimchi? What was I thinking? Upon dissection, the mustard seemed to be the main culprit, as anything it touched was rendered undesirable. The bacon was amazing, of course, but I would never order this sandwich again. I will, however, visit the Timber Dining room again on next opportunity, hopefully for a redemption meal. Our server was great, and apple cider was good, but the BLT... never again. read more

Great restaurant in a beautiful location. We stay at the lodge every year and often eat at Timbers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This year with the buffet being temporarily removed (due to COVID), I feel like they've really stepped up their game with the plated meals. The scallops were cooked perfectly- great texture and not over seasoned. I tried my husband's short ribs and they were fall apart tender. They have a fun cocktail list but can make pretty much anything you could ask for. If the weather is nice, opt for the patio seating. The view is incredible! If it's the weekend, you'll need to make reservations for dinner because they fill up fast and have fewer tables right now to allow social distancing. read more

I was pretty disappointed in the limited menu option this place provided. There were approximately 7 entrees to choose from and in my opinion not at any of them the best option. We were a party of 4 adults, 4 kids between the ages of 6-8 and one baby that was 13 months old. They had already separated our table to accommodate the 6 person max at a table. In this situation it was difficult since we came to visit family so we put the 4 older children at a table and the rest of us sat 6 feet away. As you know it is difficult to enjoy a meal when you have to get up and check a separate table. Our service and food was below average. We order the kids first and it took about 35 minutes to come out - 4- mac/cheeses and 1- cheese pizza. We order an appetizer and was brought the wrong one. We had to request a new one and this took about 45 minutes. We had to request to it from a different server since ours was no where to be found. We also had to walk up to the bar for additional beverages. Not one time did a manager come over to ask about our meal or anything. The kids meal was suppose to come with a dessert cookie. I had to request this from a different server. Our table entree meals included the following: 1- chicken Caesar salad with double chicken - the chicken was ice cold and tasted like rubber. Paid $10 additional for the double chicken and pretty sure I received one serving 2- chicken Caesar salad with chicken - chicken was ice cold and wasn't eatable at all 3 - Jambalaya with chicken - overcooked 4- Salmon - hands down the best meal at the table I received the check and saw that the server had put 22% in as tip. I have never heard of this for being a party of 8 or more. I traveled over three hours to stay at this resort and have a nice meal with our family and this was such a disappointment. I requested to speak to a manager after we had paid and told her our concerns. She was extremely nice and offer us room service for breakfast. I ate dinner in Timbers last night. I sat in their Library lounge. Bartender was on point with the Manhattan I ordered. Food was well prepared as I had the bacon Brussels and blue appetizer which was quite rewarding in flavor. Not a blue cheese fan but on this dish it was a nice blend of flavors. I understand they make the bacon jam in-house that is used in this recipe for this dish. I then had the grilled ribeye with a bbq butter and potato gratin. The steak was great and cooked perfect and then the gratin potatoes were a wonderful side to the steak as was the BBQ butter melted on the top.. The ambiance of the Timber Dining Room is wonderful with huge amounts of wood with rafters consisting of giant wood beams. Tables are wooden with chairs a combination of cloth and leather. Large windows overlooking the scenic back area of the Lied Lodge. Nice outdoor seating as well. Service was acceptable. Lunch menu has a number of appetizers, sandwiches and salads. we started with the Fried Brie that came with cranberry relish, fried parsley, and grilled baguette. It was outstanding. Could have eaten several of these. Went on to get the Caesar Salad with Romaine, shaved Asiago, garlic croutons, white anchovies and a Parmesan crisp with classic Caesar dressing. I also had shrimp added to my salad (+$7 dollars). Nothing special. Probably would not get it again. The salad was underdressed and the parmesan crisp was stale. Wife got the Grownup Grilled Cheese that came with Taleggio, house-cured bacon, caramelized onions, arugula on farmhouse wheat bread. Looked really good on the menu, but the sandwich bread was greasy and there was very little cheese on the sandwich itself. The onions smothered the sandwich. Would not get this sandwich again either. Overall price for lunch was over $40.00 dolars. Thought that was a bit steep as well. So, while the atmosphere was very nice and the service was decent, we were somewhat disappointed with the food and the prices. The highlight of the meal was the Fried Brie. In fact, I might go back to the restaurant just to get the Brie. read more

Disappointed with the service. Had reservations, yet we were asked to wait. While waiting, we noticed they had plenty of open tables and they immediately sat 2 other parties that came in after us. When we got our table, we both ordered drinks from the bar, which took almost 30 minutes to get. We watched our waitress continually service a large party of 30 people with other wait staff, while we sat with nothing but water. Other tables that came in after us, had received their bar drinks while we sat with nothing. We asked to speak to a manager, whom explained the delay was because it was Applejack festival weekend and they only had 2 bartenders to service the lounge and the restaurant. Yet the restaurant was not at capacity and had open tables. Bad planning on management to not staff for the "influx of visitors during this yearly event". Not sure how they think any guest would be ok waiting that long for their bar drinks. He apologized and removed them from our bill. Hamburger ordered well done and crispy arrived pink and dripping red juice, with French fries so cold they honestly felt refrigerated. No exaggeration. One week ago, my daughter graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park NY where I enjoyed an amazing dinner at The Bocuse, prepared and served by students there. Two days later, I dined at The Timbers and I was delighted to find the meal up to the same standard as Bocuse. I had the pork ribeye and the food was delicious, the plate was beautiful, the service was very nice, and the building and the views are stunning. The presentation was even better than the photos on the Timbers website. I complemented the cooking staff at the time, and I'm doing so again here. The main reason Timbers does not have a Michelin star or two is because they are in a small town in Nebraska. However it is worth going out of your way to find and enjoy a meal at the Timbers. read more
