We went through the drive thru and I am pretty sure they just heated the Runza up in the microwave. It was too hot to eat when I got it and then it was too hard to eat when the temp was right. The woman at the drive thru that helped us had all black numb teeth which also made the experience unappetizing. I always hate to talk about someone's looks but the teeth were so bad it was super unappetizing... So all-in-all the experience was not good. I feel I got ripped off for a $6+ Runza. I didn't like runza the first time I went there, so the next time I didn't order a runza I order a salad that was pretty tasty! Didn't have very kind staff. Got an ice cream, and it was good but the people didn't even cover the top of the cone. Food was good but I ordered frings and got 2 onion rings and 6 fries. That's it. Overall experience was okay but could've been better. read more

If you haven't tried a Runza you have to! It's that go to food for a 10:00pm hunger. You eat one then think you need another one and boom you're to full. It's a love it then wish you hadn't. Not impressed. Way over priced for portion sizes. I ordered mushroom Swiss burger, no bun with water and hubby got a runza meal with onion rings and medium drink. Almost $17. My meat, cheese and mushroom patty was close to $6 and gone in 6 bites. read more

Runza is a Nebraskan fast food institution. Anyone who calls themselves a fast food aficianado simply has to visit a Runza once (and only once, by this reviewers recommendation). The combo of ground beef and cabbage - in some sort bun that resembles a hot dog/pocket piece of bread is just...weird. I prefer to get it with cheese as well, and I'd recommend you do the same. We were looking for a Nebraska original and we found it. Friends recommended Runza - described as the "hot pocket burger joint." Runza burgers are a mix of loose meat with cabbage. We opted for the Runza with cheese and let me tell you - the mustard sets it off! Fries and rings were what you would expect. It's alright for a change of pace from the typical fast food spots. Passing through this part of southeast NE on a family vacation and found this place by chance. The interior and style of the restaurant reminds me of a "big pride for local area/thing" like Culver's but on a smaller scale. I can see that locals who grew up with this restaurant/food being fond of it but for me(and not trying to be mean)this was just food to eat that was a little different than usual. The runza itself reminded me of a White Castle smashed burger just elongated with extras. I'd be interested to try the homemade traditional runza recipe that feels German inspired. The people were nice at this Sunday lunchtime and even made a few suggestions. For my 2 kids under 5, the popcorn chk kids meals were perfect especially with the added coupons of a free ice cream cone with the meals. This place gets a Gentleman's 3 star rating for being and feeling better than a nationwide fast food chain. Thanks NE! read more

While traveling in the state, we kept seeing signs for "Runza" so when we stopped and parked for the night, we went looking for one. Well, these things are different to say the least. Ordered one with cheese and an order of onion rings. I can say that both arrived piping hot, which for a fast food joint is great. The onion rings were excellent and the runza? I have to say the taste is quite different, so much so that I'm going to have another one just to make sure that I either like them or not. Well, had to try it at least once at the recommendation of a friend. The service was fast and the place was clean. The food was just ok. I ordered the mushroom & swiss runza. This was the absolute WORST service I've ever had in any business. EVER. We stopped in on our way to a funeral in Omaha. We've never had any problem here before. We had to explain our order 3 times. All we wanted was 2 meals with large fries and an extra sandwich. The cashier got quite flustered, he had to explain it 3 times. They then screwed it up with either the wrong number of sandwiches &/or the wrong size fries. After we took the food up the 2nd time the cashier brought out a guy from the back. He was a bit rude but processed the return. But then that was still incorrect. We went up again (with no vulgar language or acting inappropriate). Some woman in the back yelled through the pass-through window that we should just leave. The man came back out into the dining room and started to scream at us to get out and don't come back. I very calmly (because people were staring now) tried to talk to him. He yelled at me that the 800 number was on the receipt. I told him I had done nothing to him and I only wanted the name of the manager. He smirked at me & informed me that he was the manager and the owner. Again, he was still yelling. The entire restaurant was staring at the entire episode. I am still in shock over the behavior of these people. The cashier was at fault and rather than training their people correctly they treat their customers this way. It was a mortifying & completely embarrassing situation. I sent a letter to corporate over a month ago and have not heard a peep out of anyone. read more

Food was good overall. We had classic Runzas (#1) and my son got fries. Fries were excellent. The lady at the register was grumpy. When I went back to get ice cream, she grumped at me. After several minutes of me waiting to the side, she asked if it was 'to go'. When I said I'd been waiting several minutes, she wanted to argue with me how long I'd been waiting. Ended up getting a refund on the ice cream. Would have easily been a 5 rating without Mrs. Grumper read more
