Apple Barrel Restaurant is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've stepped into a simpler time. It's nothing fancy--just good ol' American comfort food served up with a smile. The kind of spot where the coffee's always hot, the pie tastes homemade, and the waitresses call you "honey" without thinking twice. I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and it was exactly what I needed after a long drive. The apple pie? Golden, flaky, and served warm--just like the photo promised. If you're looking for a genuine, no-frills diner with a little soul and a lot of flavor, Apple Barrel delivers in spades.

Among the best truck stop restaurants still around! Actual sit down, not fast food, home cooked goodness! Always friendly service, and delicious food. Today I had the Reuben, and onion rings, and they were awesome! Always recommend this stop!

Everything went great! I drove by here in March n I didn't have time to stop. This time I had time. It was well worth it! Simple BLT won't regret it! Amazing! If I drive by again I will be stopping by again.

Owned by actress Barrel Streep and Coldplay's kid Apple Martin, this is a cute truck stop diner in the middle of nowhere. Lovely little diner south of Omaha, in Iowa, right off the highway, which has some good home-style dishes and All American food which will fill you right up for pretty good prices. For all these reasons I like the diner and will continue coming here whenever I'm passing by and hungry. Speaking of Iowa, Iowa lot of money to the feds so I have to go bye.

Food & service was great! Really liked their baked beans! Note, the restaurant is not in Sidney but instead west at the Sapp truck stop. There is also an Apple Barrel Restaurant in Council Bluffs, IA, too, at the Sapp truck stop.

Food was not good. I wouldn't even say adequate. Very disappointing but the portions were big. I just wish it was worth eating.

It was nice place for dinner after traveling all day. It wasn't bad for off the freeway food. The service was terrific though.

There was plenty of seating both inside and out, making it easy to settle in and enjoy a relaxed breakfast. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the large menu offered plenty of options with the flexibility to customize orders. I went with the two-egg plate, served with crispy potatoes, bacon, and French toast, and everything was delicious. The coffee arrived hot and fresh and kept coming, which is always a plus. The kids absolutely devoured their chocolate chip pancakes like nobody's business! It's easy to see why this place has so many loyal customers. Many people mentioned the consistently friendly service, generous portions, and homemade feel of the food, and after our visit, I can understand why. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this is a great spot for a hearty breakfast. We'll definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu!

There was only one waitress working and she didn't make us wait too long and was friendly enough. My wife had the biscuits and gravy which was really excellent. They sure know how to make a good biscuit. I had the special, which was a bagel breakfast sandwich, which was pretty good, definitely generous on the bacon which I appreciated. All in all, it's exactly what you'd expect and it's a good stop if you want a home cooked breakfast with some country flavor.

Before Covid timber's restaurant was the best. They had a great buffet, and their meals, even though expensive were worth it. My family and I and our adult kids all went over July 4 weekend. We had a terrific time except for the Timber's restaurant. The food was terrible.. there were 12 of us, and although the service was five stars, we couldn't believe the quality of the food. Not one of us had a good meal, which I know seems hard to believe. I will give one example... Two eggs, potatoes, and bacon. $22. We asked for the eggs over medium and they came over hard. They apologized and brought us two more eggs, both over hard again. Should be simple to make eggs... And why $22? At dinner a couple of my boys ordered steaks medium rare. They were delivered medium well... both of their steaks were overcooked. It was $35 for a piece of meat that was overcooked and the sides were extra. For what they charge at Timbers, you would think you were getting a great meal, but that's not the case. We couldn't eat our deviled eggs; it tasted like an ingredient had expired? We never return food, but we had to send this back. I'm not sure what happened, but five years ago, the restaurant was great. Now it is honestly terrible and overpriced. Timber's, seriously, you need to look at your menu, hire better cooks, and charge a fair price. The Lied Lodge is so great and your staff is terrific, but your restaurant can be better.

Some stand outs to me were the rolls. Move over Texas Roadhouse, these are the best rolls I've ever had. And that was just the first bites. We had corn about 6 different ways, and as a ceratifed corn head, this was terrific. Each dish was so thoughtfully curated and executed. I can see why this is such an occasion place, but even breakfast the next day was great. The cinnamon rolls are out of this world. The views of the hazelnut fields and all the greenery really feels otherwordly. Truly one of my favorite dining experiences as of late.
