Dinner at Timber's in Lihue was absolutely amazing. If you're looking for great steak and lobster with an amazing view. You will not be disappointed. You get to experience the large ship sailing away. The vibe was definitely an A+. Service A+. Food A+.

I was thrilled to be invited by a friend who is an owner of this beautiful residence. I spent the day at the pool with her and I was disappointed by the service of the pool girls. The server who took care of us had a poor attitude and took very long for small orders like sparkling water and a plain Diet Coke. I believe her name was Kuuipo. There would be moments where she seemed upset to take care of us then be a total kiss a**! It seemed fake and forced when she would be "nice to us". Her work appearance didn't seem professional for the type of resort she worked at. Hair was a mess and stains on her work apparel. I didn't not enjoy her service and would not like to have an experience with her again. It felt like we were an inconvenience to her. Beautiful views but terrible pool girl.

Over the last year and a half, I have been fortunate enough stay at Timbers a total of 25 days. 10 days in the Summer of 2019 and just over 2 weeks this past November (2020). Truly grateful and feel blessed to be on the Garden Isle with the best accommodations on the island and the BEST staff. I wouldnt want to stay anywhere else. My best friend is an owner and has been since even before this property was built. She was literally all in on this place when there was only the foundation. I know because she text me a photo from there. Ha! We usually occupy 2 units in the Maliula Residences. The one I'm usually in faces the pool and the road in and hers always faces the ocean. It's always so peaceful and serene. Everything about our stay is memorable. From getting picked up at LIH by Randy, Jason or BJ to the amazing customer service at the front desk from Mele and Shella, I can tell you that the staff is top notch. You're treated like family and honestly, the feeling of Aloha is all I need whenever I'm on Kauai. It's unexpected but much appreciated. The units are spacious. Ours is a 3BR and 3.5 bath unit. It essentially has 2 master bedrooms with their own walk-in closets, elevated California King beds, soaking tub, spacious rain shower, separate toilet area, double vanities and private lanai in each. The rooms are huge. The beds are so comfortable. The lanais are just a peaceful escape and every view is amazing... The other BR has 2 queen beds and smaller full bath. The living room has a sofa bed, spacious common lanai, dining table for 8 and large kitchen with an island that has a dishwasher. All the appliances are Bosch and you even have a wine fridge, Bose sound bar and Belkin tablet in the living room at your disposal. The kitchen comes fully loaded. Too many things to list. All well though out and executed. There is a washer/dryer in the unit as well. Each room, including the living room has a ceiling fan. The pools are amazing. Both of them offer different things. The one in our area has 2 levels with waterfalls, a jump rock for the keiki and plenty of room to explore and wade around. I saw it being used as a training area for snorkeling to teach the guests one Summer... The other pool has 2 levels of infinity pools with a waterfall emptying in the smaller one below. The upper pool is huge and seemingly empties out into the ocean. It's really amazing to be there. You have the Pacific Ocean in full uninterrupted view as well as Ninini Point Lighthouse. Its stunning, really. The lounges at this pool are more comfortable. There is a good sized jacuzzi at each pool and there are outdoor showers as well. The activities are great. Bikes, bodyboards, surfboards, kayaks, snorkeling gear, golf, coolers, chairs, umbrellas, etc anything you need... They have it. They upgraded the bikes and we really enjoyed taking them on a ride to the property farm (yes, they have a farm). Dave really did a good job with the new bikes. They are more comfortable and not simple beach cruisers. Some have shocks and they all have gears. Hualani's is the restaurant on property and they are a true farm to table, sea to table establishment. We have had many meals at Hualani's and none have ever disappointed. From lunches and special dinners to the 4th of July celebration buffet in 2019. It's all been amazing. I wrote a separate review for the restaurant. Dave the bartender is the man! Best part of Timbers amongst all the above list of highlights? The people. Randy with valet services goes above and beyond. He has shown us true aloha and caring. We are so grateful for him. We look forward to seeing him each time we get back to the island. Mele at the front desk is amazing. She takes care of us and looks out for our entire group (there's a lot of us) every time my best friend and her family are back at Timbers. We really cannot thank Mele and Randy enough. They are both so amazing. Cant wait to be back again soon. Counting the days. So many memories made and plenty more to come. Mahalos Timbers. A hui hou.

What a great place! Beautiful view delicious food and great service. Love coming here for lunch to relax and enjoy.

We wanted to eat dinner on Tuesday afternoon but found that the only dinner was a Prix Fixe dinner. $115.00 per person. Ah, the view was nice but a little pricey for me. We were on Kauai for the day and that would have thrown the budget for 4 people. We had a drink at the bar and left for another location.

This review has been a long time coming. I was there for a week in both the summer time of 2021 and 2022, definitely missed it this year. Timbers is the absolute best place I've been at in Hawaii. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The unit we stayed in was clean, hygienic, sanitized..it was all amazing. We stayed in a 3 bedroom, which had 3.5 bathrooms..a lanai connected to the living room, and one of the bedrooms also had it's own private lanai. The infinity pool was where we spent most of our days. It felt like a private pool! There's something to be said for the guests who are owners. They legit are the types of people who look down at you, with their noses turned up. I cannot stand people like that, who think they are so entitled. But that aside, everything was perfection. They also have a farm so you can take a farm tour. One of the best parts is they have a shuttle to pick you up/drop you off at the airport but -- you can rent a car directly from them. No hassle, easy peasy. The only thing I would suggest is that they bring in some vegetarian/vegan options. They had nothing for us, but with a kitchen, we were at least able to cook! I really wish I could visit every year!

    Dessert is so delicious

You have a date tonight? I've got a suggestion, TIMBERS!! Kauai's gem that few know about. Super bar with fresh mixology juices mixed into the best liquor. What a nice way to take a drink to the next level. 5stars. Timber's is a boutique hotel and residence. Excellence in all ways. Every single detail has been covered. You cannot go wrong staying or just visiting for a nice meal. Make a reservation, seating is limited. Not because everyone knows about them, more to the fact, farm to table has limited capacity. And if you are the type to care about ingredients, eat here everyday. The taste is absolute, clean and a cut above. There are always two fish dishes, grass fed local beef and a farm tucked between the world class golf course for the rest. Come check for yourself. You'll see me at the bar eating because I like the ocean view and maybe I'm the type to enjoy a bit more casual approach to things. Bring the family. There is something for everyone.

You can tell this resort is 5 stars all around, and we only had lunch there! Unreal views, amazing menu and cocktails and the staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. We were not staying there but plan to the next time we visit Kauai! Aaron is the food and bev manager and he'll do anything to make your visit perfect. If you're in the area and are a golfer, definitely do 18 at The Ocean Course right off the Timbers resort. Unbeatable views!! Ask for Ricky!!!

The 'best of the best' in Lihue. Full disclosure, I was just lucky enough to have dinner and drinks here, but WOW! There is no better view and accommodations than Timers Kauai. Stunning location, stunning pools and stunning food and service. Happy hour is a popular place here, but don't worry about crowds... the place may be casual, but this is the well heeled set. Perched high on a hill-top but beach accessible, you have jaw dropping views of the beach, lighthouse and even planes landing... it's such a gorgeous property. It's pricey to stay here, but I would rather stay a few days, than anywhere else... yes, I'm gushing...and after you come here you will be too! Enjoy!

    View from the bar...

Dreamy views plus delicious seared ahi. This was a special find in Yelp last week. I typically wouldn't have stopped at a spot with so few reviews, but Timbers is fairly new. It's an exclusive and hidden spot on Lihue/Kauai and so worth a visit! I stopped in to satisfy a craving for ahi and they delivered. Although my salad was drenched in a salty/mayo style Caesar dressing, my sweet bartender provided extra kale to soak it up. The ahi was absolutely perfect! The views and the property are spectacular. The resort itself is apparently privately owned residences that can be rented out. My bartender was particularly helpful explaining the dining options. Parking for non-guests is offered for free by a quick and friendly valet staff. It's an exclusive spot and food is priced accordingly. $$$.

We called the front desk and they sent someone up right away and they mopped the entire unit. The floor was still sticky even after the thorough mop. Being too tired to deal with it, we just put on our socks and "lived with it the first night". What followed after is what really impressed me. The following morning, we got a call to check in to see if everything was ok, and if there was anything they could do for us. I brought up the floor again, and immediately someone was in our room to "assess" the situation. They then asked if it would be ok if someone could come in a buff the floor. We were headed to the pool so we accepted. When we came back, the floor was 100% better and the staff continued to call and check on us, follow up and make sure that our stay was going well. This is the kind of customer service that really impresses and made the rest of stay amazing! Besides the floor situation, this hotel was amazing. Our family had the best time here! It's a smaller and more quiet property than the large Marriott on the property, which was just our speed. The pool was well maintained with the best view of the cliffs and ocean. Our room had the most spectacular view! We had breakfast on the large lanai every morning. I loved that the glass "wall" opened up entirely to the lanai so that it felt as if we had an "outdoor" living room. We took full advantage of the on property activities that they offer throughout the day when we could, such as pond fishing, fabric flower making and smoothies. The staff were all very friendly, warm, helpful and personable. parking was a breeze. This was one of the most relaxing vacations we have had and can't wait to come back!

It's high end brand is Royal Sonesta (first one opened in 1969 in New Orleans). This location in Kauai was rebranded (previously Kauai Marriott Resort) as a Royal Sonesta in 2021, during the same time as its rapid expansion. Since the whole resort used to be branded as Marriott previously, most things in the complex are shared. We were provided a rubber wrist band that identified as us being able to use the Sonesta facilities. This included the pool. It is the largest single story outdoor pool not only Kauai but all of Hawaii at 26,000 square feet, with a flower shaped lagoon pool, all 4 feet in depth. There are 5 separate hot tubs, with most of them empty during the afternoon. The pool overlooks the Pacific Ocean with Kalapaki beach in the forefront. There is a manned towel station where one can pick up towels for use on both the pool area and the nearby beach, needing your room key and wristband. With all of this in place, spending a cloudy afternoon in the pool area was definitely worth a part of our vacation. Note that vacation club owners can set-up a house account with the Sonesta front desk, to allow charges for restaurants and shops. My family and my wife's parents had stayed at this hotel more than twenty years ago and really enjoyed it, so my wife and I took the opportunity in April 2026 to make a return visit, staying for 6 nights at 1,350 points for a Parlor room (basically a hotel room with a Murphy bed...max 2 people)...plus a mandatory daily Hawaiian 'Villa tax' of $15.22. We really enjoyed our visit to the 'Garden Isle'. Back then, the hotel portion of the complex was a high end Marriott hotel. In 2021, the owners rebranded it to become the Royal Sonesta, which created a bit of confusion for me. What's important is that they are two separate entities, but letting guests/owners share things like the pool, lounge chairs on the beach, and fitness center. However owners can not charge anything to their room, instead having to create a separate Sonesta account to do so. Two things that jumped out were that the two large surface self-parking lots (complementary for owners) are quite a distance from the lobby entrance. And the check-in lobby for the vacation club itself is on the beach side of this large complex. In between is a beautiful and very large garden, with a koi pond and various retail shops. There is a large sundry shop, selling essentials along with snacks and food for comparable prices to other stores nearby. There is a free shuttle to the nearby airport, though we didn't take it since we had a rental car. So it is possible to not use a rental car, since there are two shopping centers within walking distance, along with multiple restaurants on the resort grounds itself. We stayed in a parlor (studio-style) room, and it was fine for the two of us. The bathroom was actually small for a hotel, with the walk-in shower being good with OK shower pressure but not really hot water. There is a kitchenette (full size sink, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, full set of flatware, glasses, mugs, pitcher for water, colander, tupperware for leftovers, blender). Also an apartment-size refrigerator with a usable freezer that kept our ice cream frozen. There are gas grills outside, which I noticed were daily cleaned by housekeeping. The room had a queen murphy bed, with a OK mattress. When hidden, the space is used as a couch. We found it much easier just to keep it down throughout our stay, since we were able to find space to put away the couch cushions out of the way...though a survival key became a way to minimize the number of bad toe stubs on the corners. Housekeeping comes at the end of your stay, though a cleaning can be added at additional cost. Garbage can be thrown out in nearby bins in the hallways. Self-service laundry is separate from the units, and was not even in our tower, but in an adjoining one. There is a small cost associated with it. It had a nice TV with a lot of basic cable channels (HGTV!) along with 3 Showtime channels. It's an older room so electrical outlets were at a premium, but they had put power strips behind the bed so was able to connect my machines next to my side of the bed without need for an extension cord. The private lanai had seating for two and a great unobstructed view of the ocean and beach (worth the upgrade to an ocean view). It's one of the best parts of the unit. We saw the NCL Pride of America come into the nearby Nilliwilli cruise port and stay for 2 days (Thursday and Friday). Important to note since the area gets a lot busier when the cruise ship is in town. The fitness center was good. Cardio equipment was older but in good shape. Had plenty of towels, but only had one disinfecting wipe dispenser, which was sometimes out. Huge yoga room with mats and equipment. Had a filtered water dispenser. The rooms were not created as a fitness center, but still had decent ventilation. The owners lounge is nice, with free use of a foosball table and a working air hockey table. It had working outlets and air conditioning so hung out there in the afternoon after checkout since our flight was at night. In terms of resort activities, it's pretty limited during the shoulder-season when we came. Staff interaction was OK, though in the beginning, the pushing of timeshare presentations ("500 points if you sign up!") by the concierges were prevalent.

We checked in, and right away, the room wasn't impressive. There was a strange scent lingering in the air--like something was being covered up with multiple plug-ins. Everything felt dated: the furniture, the decor. The kitchen looked decent with updated appliances, but that was about it. We tried to brush it off and went to the pool (which looked much smaller in person than in the photos), then came back to the room. That's when the real nightmare began. My youngest daughter went to take a shower in one of the bathrooms. Moments later, I hear screaming. I run in and see sewage--yes, actual dark, smelly sewage--coming up from the shower drain. My daughter is crying, I'm shaking, and the stench is overwhelming. We immediately called the front desk, and someone was sent to "unblock" it. I begged the manager to move us to another room due to the smell and potential health hazard, and all he said was: "There are no rooms. You can check out, or stay and we'll send housekeeping." Excuse me? This isn't a spilled drink--they're talking about cleaning up sewage with a mop? I asked if they planned to professionally decontaminate the area, and the answer was no. Just their regular housekeeper. It wasn't until I was clearly desperate--three kids, nighttime, a trip we booked months ago--that they finally offered to send us to their sister hotel for one night. But we'd have to pack up, drive there, then return the next day--basically waste precious time and energy. This was a special occasion trip. We paid extra for an ocean view, and it was supposed to be an anniversary celebration. And to make things worse, nobody seemed to care. The manager responded with a condescending tone like I was overreacting. He actually said, "These things happen once in a blue moon." Okay--then have a plan for when they do! It honestly felt like he thought he was doing me a favor by offering a one-night refund or a small room at a different hotel. No real apology. No accountability. Just a lot of shrugging and gaslighting. We ended up staying, but were only refunded for one night. The second bathroom was out of commission (we didn't feel safe using it), so our whole family had to share one shower for the rest of the trip. The awful smell never fully left the room. Also--the in-unit washer and dryer? The washer smelled horrible, was full of sand, and looked like it had mold in the plastic lining. Just gross. This whole experience left a horrible taste in our mouths. I honestly don't understand how this place is being managed. If the rooms are owned by individuals and managed by this hotel group, do the owners even know how badly things are being handled? What was supposed to be a beautiful anniversary trip with our kids turned into one of the worst travel experiences we've ever had. Stay far, far away from this place!!!

We arrived early in the day so we're not able to get into our room but the staff held our luggage and recommended a few places to eat and watch football. Once able to get into our room which was on the 3rd floor looking over the pool area but far enough away from the noise. The room was quite large with a great kitchen area with granite counter tops and nice appliances. Also a large bathroom with tub and separate shower area as well as two toilets. It was a one bedroom. There was a small lanai off the bedroom and you could open the sliding door from the living room. There was also a washer/dryer in the room. The view from the room looked over the whole pool area which has a winding pool that you can walk around over to the main pool. They also had gas grills to use and many people did. One note is if you open the sliding door in the living room area and don't match up the line in the top of the doors, the air conditioning doesn't go on. We thought the air conditioning quit. After calling the front office someone came within an hour. Told us about the line. We also had an issue with the washer and after a call to the front desk a maintenance person was there within an hour. The staff we interacted with were very friendly and very helpful. Giving us recommendations for a place for fresh fish to grill. There is also a small restaurant which we tried a few nights for some drinks and appetizers. The views of the ocean are great. There are also chairs to sit on the beach area and enjoy the water. The beach is not large but very clean and nice to relax at. There is a shopping center across the street to buy things for the condo. We will stay here again next time in the area.

The hotel is located right across the street from the Marriott property and the locals surf spot at K-bay. There is a hot and cold water dispenser in the lobby as well as cookies and pastries at the front desk throughout the day. Our room was very cute, decorated with colorful walls and bedding. The room and the bathroom was very clean. We had a good night sleep. There is a large garden on the property full of beautiful trees and plants. We even got some organic tangelos from the tangelo tree, big juicy and very tasty! The staff were very helpful and gave us alot of good information on what to do and where to go. definitely recommend!

This resort is in the middle of a remodel, it will be for some time so unless you don't mind saws, jackhammers and dumb detours just to get around you might think it's ok. Our room had a very nice view and was clean although a bit dated and tiny bathroom space. Now, let's talk about the "resort" fees. If you booked through a 3rd party, such as Southwest Vacations like we did, as soon as you try to check in they state daily resort fees were not included in our package and we must put them on a credit card $35.00 + a day! You get nothing in return for these charges, then add on $29.00 a day for Self Parking (which you much have a car because the resort is not within walking distance to ANYTHING). So the first 10 minutes after our arrival cost us about $600 additional dollars! Huge red flag should have been the hokey temporary entrance and portable toilets right out front. The prices of everything are extremely high for the quality, service and products you get. i.e. $15.00 mai tai in a small plastic cup at the pool bar?!? Not worth it.

Nice location next to Lydgate Beach park and an amazing playground area if you have little ones. Tiki Bar is pretty meh food wise, Garden Grill has a good breakfast though. Rooms are pretty spotty. First one we got was very run down but we switched to a slightly more modern one that was better. Specifically need to shout out to their employee Curt - dude is by far the best hotel employee I've ever encountered. He was amazing, helping us with our bags, then helping again to switch rooms, entertaining my 2.5 year old, giving him multiple presents for no reason and allowing him to feed the fish. He was so kind and funny and just the best. Without him, our experience would have been much less memorable.
