It's a dump. Our unit was old, worn, and needs fixing. After three days of jerking around trying to fix our TV they brought in a new one. The drapes are falling off the drapery rod. Paint peeling on the dorr frame of the bathroom. The guests above us constantly made noise even after we asked them to quiet down after 11pm. Even notified the management company. There are much better places. avoid this one read more

My husband and I just stayed in unit 9 for a week for our honeymoon and we fell in love. The condo was small but had everything that we needed. The view was absolutely beautiful and the sound of the ocean waves all day into the night is just what we needed. Waking up with the ocean breeze flowing through the room and the sounds of the ocean and birds was just beautiful. The unit and the grounds were very clean and maintained. The location was perfect for us too as we wanted to explore all parts of the island and we were pretty centrally located without being far from the beach. The tidepools down below were beautiful and the sunrises were breathtaking. Their foliage around the property was great too and the architecture of the buildings have a very Hawaiian feel. We will probably end up staying here again and would definitely recommend it. read more

We stayed at Kapaa Sands last week and it was great. Fully remodeled, killer views, the ocean at night... It felt bigger than a studio. We rented through hula now and it was so easy. It was a good location to go north or south/west. Close to the airport. Lots of restaurants nearby. Would stay here again. Oh and the ocean beach in front has a reef protecting it so it's perfect for wading and viewing fish! read more

We loved Kappa Sands! Several units are privately owned and recently remodeled (check vrbo.com). The full kitchen was great & helped us save $. The property is immaculately landscaped and maintained. The ocean front units are steps to the beach (which has large granules of sand that do no stick like typical sand). The pool is perfect for cooling off after a day of adventures & was never crowded. Great restaurants, shops, Safeway, Longs Drugs & Starbucks nearby. Try Caffe CoCo & Verde for dinner! All in all, probably the best beach-front value on the island! read more

My wife and I loved our stay at kapaa sands. I would highly recommend this condo for anyone that wants a quaint place to stay. The grounds are gorgeous, the views are spectacular. Our neighbors are out on their patios at night, and are very friendly. I also love its location, close to shopping and restaurants. Not too far from either side of the island. The rooms are very nicely kept and clean. Kitchen is small but well stocked. The rooms are simple, not luxurious. We stayed at unit 15, the view, and sound of the waves is superb. the downsides: the beach is small, and not good for swimming. However there is an excellent blocked of section at the end of the beach for small children to swim. The rooms seem to be a little tight on space. Restaurants in kapaa lack compared to the north or south sides of the island. Kapaa sands is not a modern luxury resort. It doesn't have night life, or a pool with 10 waterfalls, or any fancy restaurants. It's simple, quiet, and relaxed where you can be yourself. If you desire quiet and relaxed its perfect! If you want ultra luxury, a nightclub, and a pool with a swim-up bar I recommend elsewhere. read more

Never rent from Hula Now. They are scam artists pushing dumpy rooms in an unsafe area. They survive on non refundable rentals. They never answer the phone. They will keep $75 if not your full payment no matter how soon you cancel - there is no grace period at all. If you stay here you will be forced to buy your own toilet paper and lock the doors at night when it's 80 degrees with no air conditioning. If anything happens, like a break-in or cockroach infestation, you will have no front desk help, only a phone number that rings but never gets answered. You could cancel 2 minutes after you place the reservation a year in advance and these guys would still take your money. . I'm ready for my $75 refund whenever you guys are ready to do the right thing. Back to say I'm still waiting for my $75 refund, will remove this review upon receiving my refund. I see that a couple people have found this helpful so it's probably cost you a lot more than $75 already. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE This place, truly a GEM in the pacific. We rented from PacificCondosKauai. It was perfect, very easy and the space was beyond what I could describe. The Sound of the Ocean, the Constant trade winds, Proximity to the surf and Views that melt your troubles away. This was a Perfect place, space and had just been completely remodeled. The kitchen was had everything we needed and more. It is equal distance to the north and the south making this a GREAT location to start and end your day. Great By-The-Beach House, Condo #1 I love taking a few days when I'm working on projects to get close to the water and concentrate. I booked Condo #1 last minute, and the moment I walked in the door I knew I wanted to stay for much longer than what I had reserved. I was greeted with the most beautiful ocean view, the beach just steps away from the condo, turtles playing in the surf, and a cozy, casual beach house feel. The beach is literally steps right off of the lanai. First thing I did was open the doors and windows to let that ocean breeze in! There was also a welcome bag with bottled water, pens, sticky notes, a small pack of coffee, a beach bag, a nice magazine and guidebook, and best of all- a box of macadamia nut chocolates. Very hospitable. There is no AC, but who needs it when you have the fresh ocean breeze coming in through the full sliding glass doors in the living room downstairs, and the master bedroom upstairs. There is also ample ventilation for cross breezes, so I was very comfortable. The place is very private, it is at the end of the group of condos. It was clean, with very nice quality sheets, towels, and new comfy pillows. Pool towels were also provided. The pool is very clean, and the grounds are landscaped beautifully. There are also BBQ grills for guests' use. I had no problems with check in or out (except that I had to leave!), and the place was easy to find with the directions I was given in the confirmation email. I will be back and recommend to friends who visit Kauai. Mahalo and Aloha! read more

Great Memorial weekend ever. The villa we rented was just a short walking distance from the beach. The beach was a little secluded, it's nice we didn't have to compete with space. Sat by the beach and play in the little tide pool all. Relaxing views and feeling. It's also located a few minutes drive to restaurants and souvenir shops. Best short get away ever. Mostly these condos were I believe also posted in Airbnb. Highly recommended renting a place around this beach. Love it!!!! I will definitely rent again on one of these villa around this beach. read more

This property/hotel/vacation rental charges $25, to make any reservation, which they do not refund, under any circumstances. The woman in the office is a witch. I made a reservation, for Thanksgiving week, back in July. I was not told, over the phone, that any reservation entails a $25 fee. I cancelled the reservation on August 23, 2014. This is almost 3 months in advance. None the less, they kept my $25. I went over in person, in an attempt to get a refund of my $25. The woman at the desk, was out chatting with whomever she felt like chatting with. I stood there for at least 20 minutes before anyone appeared at the office. Then she refused to refund me. I'm glad I didn't stay there, because the units are small & not worth $250 or so per night. Be sure you don't make a reservation there & need to change it. read more

not too close to the southern beaches that don't get rained out. very well appointed kitchen. TV placed in a bizarre spot in the room. Stingy with toilet paper-- "go buy some" when we ran out"! Had to beg for fresh towels during 13 day rent-out and got all kinds of complaining! laundry during limited hours. pool but no hot tub. no boogie boards or surfboards to borrow. too tiny for more than 2 people. No welcome bag as presented to other guests. out realtor was Steve oldfield so probably other ones are different in terms of hospitality? read more

An Oceanfront Condo in Kauai for $140 a night ? So much more reasonable than most things on the Island, and we saved even more money by making our own breakfasts and cocktails in our kitchen ! The good: Beautiful location on a small beach, shared only by another condominium complex. The beach is not safe for swimming, but we spent time on the sand, watching sea turtles in the waves. The condos are landscaped beautifully, with lots of grassy areas, palm trees, and tropical flowers. There is a clean but cold pool, a communal BBQ grill, and a laundry room with bookshelves and lots of books to borrow or trade. The complex is very quiet, except for the crashing of waves, yet it is located just 4-5 minutes from downtown kapaa, with lots of shops and restaurants, or 5 minutes in the other direction to Lydgate park, with a nice snorkeling beach and huge play structure. The kitchen in our studio condo had everything we needed, including a dishwasher, microwave, oven, every kitchen utensil you can think of, wine glasses, paper towels, a coffee grinder, etc. We enjoyed breakfast on our lanai every morning, and we bought a bag of birdseed for the friendly pigeons that would eat out of our hands. ( I know, bird flu, winged rats, yada-yada) The Bad : The bed was not very comfortable, and the pillows were thin and hard. Although the sheets and towels were spotless and smelled clean, the housekeeper never wiped down our sink or the top of the TV cabinet, which was very dusty. One more recommendation. Although we loved being right on the beach, the crashing waves were really loud at night and made it hard to sleep. If we go back, we will get one of the condos in the back, rather than right on the beach. read more

Room is extremely close to the ocean that is the only good thing about this unit. Outdated, appliances are old and dingy, carpets are questionable I'd wear sandals to be safe, you need to buy your own toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, hand soap, dishwasher detergent, you only get a set amount of towels like 2 towels for an entire week. If you'd like to wash any laundry or the towels it is 3.50 per wash and 3.50 per dry plus you must buy laundry detergent and the laundry room hours are super bazaar. No AC. 1 small overhead fan, An odd little TV in the far corner of the room near the sliding glass door. Quiet times are a joke, people are up until midnight and back at it at 5:30am and there is nowhere to call or complain and when we politely let them know quiet hours are 9pm to 8am it just got worse. We stay on island every year for 2-3 weeks and this location has been the absolute worst. I really wish we could get ahold of someone because I've already been here 5 days and I've got 3 days left in this unit and I'd rather sleep in my rental car than this place. read more

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! This condo was one of the nicest places i ever stayed at and much better than expected. It had plenty of room with 2br/1.5 ba to accomodate five of us and it had just about everything we needed. It was a two story place with a pool and lanai balcony. There was a full kitchen with pots/pans, a fridge, dishes and silverware, microwave and stove. There were also boogie boards for us to use if needed. this place was even better equipped than my own place! The stay was cheap (about $200 a night) with friendly and helpful workers. The beach is literally a one minute walk from our place and since we were on the east coast, it was a great place to catch a beautiful sunrise =) It's located in Kapa'a about ten minutes from the airport, and its convenient to get around to anywhere on the island. I would definitely reccomend this place and if i could afford it, i would buy this complex for myself! =) read more

STAY AWAY. I stayed at other locations throughout Kauai and this is by Far the worst one. You have no sense of Hawaii at all because of the location in Kapaa is so touristy and corporate. But not to mention the dead end location with a drop box for parking info?? Trying to navigate through the cement paths to find our little condo. Once we get in it smelled like a dirty motel room. Everything is outdated and the bathroom can barely fit one person. The "king sized bed" we asked for, yea that's just 2 twin sized beds pushed next to each other with a memory form sheet so cheap that it hangs off extra on the bed. The best part of this place is the patio view!!! Gorgeous back drop to the right. But not worth the cost to stay here. Trust me, there's definitely better places. read more

I feel so lucky to have found this place. It's a series of 7 small buildings that front on the ocean. Each has 2 to 4 units in it. There are lovely grounds and a pool. We had a pull down murphy bed which allows for more living space plus a full kitchen and lanai. They take very good care of the units and change your towels every other day and linens mid-week. One big advantage is that it is within walking distance of 2 good shopping areas, Coconut Marketplace and Kinipopo Village. It's also conveniently located between the tourist destinations of Hanalei and Waimea Canyon. You can sit on the lawn and watch the sun come up or go down, or access the beach which is all public in Hawaii. I would definitely stay here again next time and recommend it to friends. read more

Since I took my daughters (and one of them brought her husband) back to da 'aina on my yearly recharging visit this past summer, I needed to stay somewhere that had actual beds (vice sleeping on my hanai sister's couch) and to save some money, a kitchen. My small keed time friend checked this place out for me and paid the deposit on the spot, thus guaranteeing our reservation and getting a kama'aina discount for us. Parking was a little dicey since the county was working on the road in front of the condos. The unit itself was gorgeous; very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The master bedroom had a lanai and faced towards the ocean and the smaller bedroom faced towards the street. Unfortunately the bed in the smaller bedroom was very uncomfortable so my daughter and son-in-law ended up sleeping on the fold out couch in the living room (which was marginally better than the bed upstairs). It is a pretty central location, but it is Kauai, so everything is within driving distance. I really liked that we were able to walk to Kintaros, eat and drink copious amounts and stumble back to the condo without having to worry about getting a DUI. The reason this place doesn't get five stars is that the hours for the laundry room located at the property are not very convenient. They are basically only open during the times when most people are out at the beach and/or sightseeing. Fortunately, there is a laundromat (Kapaa Laundry Center) five minutes down the street in Kapaa. While this place is called Kapaa Sands (and has a Kapaa address), it is actually not in Kapaa, but in Wailua. As you are heading South from Kapaa towards the airport, you drive out of Kapaa, past Waipouli and at about the Coconut Market Place, it changes to Wailua. Don't confuse this place with Kauai Sands which is a minute away from this place. read more

Had an unpleasant stay at Kapaa Sands after having such a great time the week previous in another condo further south. The floors felt sticky and dirty, they were very cheap linoleum and carpet. We had to wear our sandals inside since the floors felt so gross. Enjoyed the giant cockroach on it's back upon entering the unit. The oceanside units had a nice view but the back row ones are in a parking lot a hundred yards from the noisy highway. The staff here seem a bit clueless, each unit is individually owned so they represent each homeowner and can't really help you out until they email the owner. Getting something fixed like a screen door that falls off the track is a monumental task. Absolutely adored having the tree trimmers come one day and start dropping huge palm fronds and coconuts from three stories up without any warning while our kids were out running several feet away. A lot of work was scheduled while we were there, which I guess means they maintain the place, but I've seen highway work scheduled with more care than this. Prepare to be woken from a nice afternoon nap, or have your happy hour on the lanai with a side of circular saw noise as they work on the unit next to you. There are flood lights every 10 feet at night, totally impratical to sleep or sit out and enjoy the stars. I've stayed in Motel 6 rooms that were cleaner, quieter, and more relaxing than this. I wouldn't stay in this place again if it was free. read more

This was our third time staying at the Kapaa sands and we were sadly disappointed. It is under new management and the new management refuses to clean your rooms change your sheets stock any amenities that always came with the condos refuse to include a beach towel. We booked our condo this year a year in advance we were told that they would honor the old policies, they did not I had to call numerous times to get them to come clean our room they promised that they would continue to keep our room clean every three days like the policy states never saw them again every time you try to call the new management company you received voicemail which took them more than three hours and sometimes not until the next day each time to return phone calls needless to say we will not be ever be staying there again read more

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and we LOVED it. We feel like we really hit the jackpot with this place. It's simple so if you're looking for the resort experience, stop reading. However, if you're interested in a quiet getaway with beach access and a central location with walking distance to restaurants, keep reading. This is a no-frills kind of place but everything was clean and they supplied beach towels, a beach chair, beach umbrella, cooler, and one set of snorkel equipment. There is a full kitchen which comes in handy since eating out is so expensive in Hawaii. We fell asleep every night to the sounds of the ocean. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Kauai. read more

I stayed at this wonderful little resort last spring. We had one of the oceanfront studios, #14. It is a simple little place, not like a fancy resort, but the condo was comfortable and had a full kitchen. It had everything we needed. And we got to go to sleep listening to the ocean. This place is a great deal and very close to some good restaurants. Kapaa is a good central location on Kauai. I would definitely go back to the Kapaa Sands. read more
