Private salt water that is clean as a whistle!
Sammy L.

This bed and breakfast is a hidden gem! My husband and I were visiting Kauai for the first time and we stayed a couple days in the Princeville area (St Regis and Westin) and decided that for the south side of the island we would try something more low key and local. Upon finding this stealthy B&B on Airbnb we decided to book it for 6 nights, WOW we are so happy that we chose this retreat! Dan and Lynette are fantastic hosts, they are gracious and care about their guests. We shared our stories at breakfast and enjoyed delicious homemade breakfast that included Dan's awesome delicious lattes and his espresso beans beat Blue Bottle coffees! They have two different types of lodging, one is the bottom floor of the main house and we stayed in the detached bungalow on the property which was fantastic with its own private entrance and modern decor! The pool that they have is beautiful and private, not to mention it is a saltwater pool so you can open your eyes and not feel like they are burning through your eye sockets! The Hyatt is RIGHT next door and we were the riff raff enjoying there pool, sneaky and ninja style! The property is beautiful and lush, its as if you are a celebrity! Shipwreck beach is a 5 minute walk on a paved private walkway behind the house. They also have a very cute/friendly dog named Kila, she is absolutely the best behaved dog that I have ever encountered. If you get a chance to visit Kauai, forget the overly priced resorts and stay at the Poipu Bay B&B, it's an experience you will never forget! (Have Dan grab a fresh coconut off of the tree on the property, he is a hoot!)

The pool is amazing

She is also the sweetest and you should request her for your massage. Immediately, everyone who worked here is so unwelcoming and unaccomadating. From initial check in, the valet/bellman was irritated by how many bags we had, then we were told we had to go back into the check in line and get a pass for his car after we had just checked in. We went to the concierge and he said he couldn't help us, we had to wait in line. So we did, for 20 minutes - once we got to the front, she told us we didn't need a pass to park. Then we got to the "private" dinner which we paid $3k for...showed up and it was just the table with an ocean view with some curtains against the wall. We asked them to close said curtains, they told us that would disrupt the other guests....when we paid for private room....we had to throw a fit and pull up email exchanges to get them to close the curtains. Then during some high-spirited toasts we got a bit loud, SECONDS LATER, our waiter came in and told us to keep it down. WE PAID FOR A PRIVATE ROOM. FOR THIS REASON. We haven't even left the table yet and I am just fuming writing this. We're honestly very easy people. This was a horrific experience.

The one bedroom with kitchen is small but not a space issue at all. The balcony makes up for the small inside space, it's large for a one bedroom and I am so thankful there are 4 chairs and two tables on the patio! The pool is very nice! The activities are fun! The toilet and shower are in one room and then a double sink outside that and across from the weirdly laid out kitchen which is basically all along one wall. There is no dining table, just two barstools at the counter and seating for four around a low coffee table. There is not enough storage space at all.... Two small drawers in a wardrobe unit in the bedroom. There is no way you could store clothes for four people in the place. The studio is really cramped, with even less space in the "kitchen" - there's no way I could stay in that space. The pool by the ocean, on the hotel side is too small given the number of rooms and people. The pool by the villas is a much better size but there is no food service over there. The grilling area needs to be cleaned everyday and it is not. The tables are disgustingly dirty.

We spent one night in one of these (smelled very smoky in master bedroom) and washing machine didn't work well. Really responsive. Our review is based on our trip in May, 10 great days in building 10. We loved our stay. Clean, comfortable, close to hot tubs (one is adults only) a huge shallow gradually sloped pool with sand & lounge chairs, umbrellas, and a great Snack & Bar area. The bartenders are fun and will make just about anything you can dream up! Large pool is warm enough, hot tubs are wonderful-room for a dozen. The parking lot would get full at times, but we were always able to find a spot. They have quiet hours posted, but honestly, noise was never a problem here. I'm sure they were busy and full because of the parking lot, but we rarely heard or saw anyone! They also have elevator access and luggage carts which was helpful for when we received our Instacart order. Located right on the ocean, we had a remarkable view of Hoai Bay and Prince Kuhio Beach from our living room/dining room as well as our Lanai. We enjoyed relaxing on the lanai, listening to the waves and watching for sea turtles, which was saw many! Locals would come to the beach to fish and even that was fun to watch! There's also a ton of roosters and chickens, and the roosters crow all day, not just in the mornings lol! We also saw thousands of rose ringed parakeets flying into the area in the morning and flying out at night! Showers and foot baths were located in the parking lot to rinse off prior to returning from the beach. We had to take our trash out a couple of times during our stay, and that was located at the end of the parking lot near the BBQ area. The staff was friendly, although our interaction with them was minimal. One kind gentleman on staff offered to take my trash for me and told me to go enjoy my day, that taking out the trash was a horrible thing to have to do on vacation! Mom and dad have had a timeshare here for years, dad passed 5 months ago and since Mom had had a reservation since last year, she took me instead. It's been such a special time honoring my dad who absolutely loved sitting on the lanai, drinking his macadamia nut coffee, reading books and going snorkeling. They always get the same room 2314 - third floor up on the very left of the main building. I've attached a video. The most amazing view ever and SO relaxing. For the first 2 1/2 days mom and I just read book after book. We sat on the lanai and just relaxed from the crazy past five months. It was perfect. For the first two dinners here we ate at the food trucks that the resort now has booked in the evenings. One was pizza (Pizza Poundahz) and the other Mexican food (Baja Chalupas). The pizza truck was really, really good and the girl running it was super sweet. The Mexican food was just so so and the guy running it didn't have 1 ounce of personality and definitely not customer friendly (aargh). But I love that the resort has this option so we didn't have to go out, just grabbed our dinner and took it back to our room. Perfect! Beyond all that I would definitely come back here, although I myself don't buy into timeshares. The place is top notch, super clean and well stocked. The Wi-Fi was easy to connect to. They supply enough coffee filters for a week, and one days worth of coffee grounds. Thank you! Being an end unit, we not only have open windows in the front and back but on the side as well, which is so nice. There's no air-conditioning here which I really think they should have even if it's one unit per room, but yes, the tradewinds are nice, but it's still Hawaii-humid, and sometimes kind of uncomfortable. Mom said they've updated a few things in the room like the couch and comfy chairs, etc. This unit has two bedrooms, the second being two twin beds. In my opinion, they should have a king size bed in each room so you can bring another couple. Kids always love sleeping together anyway if you bring a family so having two twin beds is a little weird to me. Overall, we've been super happy. You can walk to Spouting Horn. You can walk to the shopping centers and restaurants. You can rent bikes. There are various food trucks on the property on different days. There is a farmers market on Friday (if I remember correctly). The fruits and vegetables are so fresh and fairly priced. DO NOT BUY fruit/vegetables from the street vendors. Complete rip-off. They have different activities daily for people that like to keep busy. The price could not be any more affordable. What we pay to stay there for a week is less than 3 nights at the big brand hotels in the area. You can buy in fairly inexpensively if a prior owner wants out or defaults. We have been staying here for a few years now. You need to take the Rum tour that's about 30 minutes away. Good times!
