In the Lake Ronkonkoma area; the places that I'd find New Balances in the past such as Kohl's, Dick's Sporting Goods, and the New Balance store by Smith Haven Mall were m.i.a on a good selection of them that were reasonably priced. So on my second full day on Long Island, my dad and I headed out on the Long Island Expressway to its easternmost end at Tanger Outlets to check out the New Balance Store in the eastern quadrant of the outdoor mall.      When I visited on May 16, 2024 at 12:30 pm, there were plenty of parking spaces leading to a short walk in my worn out New Balances to the business. When I walked in I passed the tables and racks of New Balance apparel on the way to the back where I explored the aisles of New Balance sneakers. I found the aisles to be nicely organized and clean. The left half of the aisles merchandised women sneakers where the right were men's. The aisles were further broken down by sneaker type and style. For example, I saw an aisle for training, another for walking, and so on. With this commendable selection were an impressive variety of sizes. Unlike some stores specializing in footwear, there were several sizes of each sneaker on the salesfloor.     The sales associates were helpful and patient. On account of how difficult it was for me to find a size that was comfortable to wear with my Superfeet insoles, it was necessary to go through boxes of sneakers to find the right one. In hindsight I should of taken a photo to show all of the boxes. The Associates gave zero issue as I tried on several pairs. One of the Associates went as far as to measure my feet, although the measurement was incorrect.    Thanks to the abundance of different sizes, I finally found a size 9E that fit comfortably. Complimenting the impressive selection of sneakers were the prices. In my mind, this store is the best deal for New Balance sneakers. After all this is a factory outlet store. On top of the low prices they offered some additional great deals that included 25% off some of the sneakers.    Based on my leading check-in here on May 16, 2024 at 12:30 pm, I can myself returning here when I visit my dad on Long Island. My Dad had even said that he plans to go to the Tanger Outlets more often than Kohl's.

I headed straight to my favorite area--clearance--and saw a big sign: "30% off sticker price." The familiar blue, yellow, red, etc stickers were on the boxes, but the discount charts were GONE. I asked a lovely, charming young associate if the 30% was in addition to the color sticker discount, and she said, "No, the colors don't mean anything. It's just 30% off whatever it says." Well. This was a new, horrible, terrible, NO GOOD, and UNWELCOME change. I am thoroughly disgusted and UNHAPPY. Gone is the thrill of finding amazing shoes or boots or sneakers at 50-60% off. It sucked when they dropped the yellow tags from 80% off to 70% off, then to 60% off, but that still felt okay. Having everything only 30% off is pathetic. I have, on a quite a few occasions, bought 5-6 pairs of shoes of boots, mainly because the quality and prices were irresistible. I WOULD have bought a pair of Lucky Brand boots, a pair of Sorels, and a pair of Sperry Topsiders, if the prices were based on the color tags, but I left them all there. 30% off across the board just doesn't make the cut. I did buy a pair of black leather penny loafers, but only because I don't have a pair and will use them. I wasn't really happy, though. Then I got to the register, and a VERY nice, very patient man managed to find the 20% off coupon on my phone :D So I got 30% off, then 20% off, which took nearly $40 off the sticker price. Debated getting the boots, but decided against them. So, in summary, it appears that I can no longer be a shoe fiend, since my habit is dependent on good pricing. I only wear all-leather shoes, which are only produced by a few makers, and expensive. I will NOT wear manmade shoes or boots. Ah well. Good thing that I do take very good care of my shoes and boots. They're going to have to last, because DSW has failed me. I'm a strong proponent of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." DSW messed with a long and wonderful pricing strategy. Dumb, IMO. Hopefully others will think the same, and speak up. Until then, farewell, DSW. It was a good long run.

What's not to like!?!…read more The staff was definitely helpful in assisting me with my purchase, providing insight on slight differences in the models they sold. In the end this helped make my visit more efficient knowing the differences upfront. ECCO shoes are some of the most comfortable and lightweight shoes I've worn. Dress shoes aren't my favorite to wear and I've tried many that have not been comfortable. I've often visited ECCO outlets to find the prices almost the same as the regular price. Perhaps it's because of the pandemic that the deals were better but I'll be back again when I need more shoes for my weary tired feet.

Jeff, the store manager at this Tanger Outlets, was very helpful when I originally emailed about the availability of the shoe I was looking for. Despite the companies own admission that the quality of the shoe is not up to their standards, you can't beat this quality American made shoe. Just before the holiday, the shoe I asked about dropped to $229 and I couldn't wait. I got a great deal, and Jeff made everything easy. I will definitely be buying another pair in the future and if this store has what I'm looking for, I won't hesitate to buy the shoes. Thanks again!
