This place, omg. just what I needed. Decided to take a road trip to the mountains from Denver for some healing after my pup passed. Looked on expedia, but everything was pretty pricey so wasn't sure which place to choose, thank god I have a cousin who lives in Montrose (closest airport) and she booked for me. driving in first off was amazing its a mixtire of sedona red rocks surrounded by christmas trees and a beautiful running river. Location is perfect its about .25 miles from natural hot springs and .5 miles from town (main street). the lodge is facing the road and right behind is a diner it was a friday and they have live music fridays. also behind the lodge is a fire pit with blankets for evening smores (which they provide until 10pm) Don is the lodge manager and he's so cool! he gave is tips on hikes, how to deter bears lol town foods and sites. i was only there two days, and even though it was a small town I felt like i needed more time so will be back next month. ten loves and 100 on this place! read more

My boyfriend planned a fun weekend get a way in the San Juan mountains and we stayed in Ouray for the evening. The website for the lodge gave the impression of "mountain views" or at least some views from the room. He booked a king room to have a patio and unfortunately the picture is what our view and patio (a shared patio with the room next door) looked like. This was the only "bad". The owner was extremely welcoming and the rooms were very comfortable. We enjoyed a good breakfast at the restaurant next to the lodge and also enjoyed an evening walk on the trail around the river. When booking, I would definitely call and request a room with a view; upstairs would be best or on the "street" side of the hotel or else you'll be looking at RVs, a garage, and the back/side of the restaurant. read more

I really liked my stay at Timber Ridge Lodge. The whole location and setup amplifies quaintness and peacefulness. It's located right along the road as you enter and exit the majestic mountain town of Ouray, Colorado. The lodge consist of 2 levels of rooms, both on the front side and rear sections of the lodge. My room was on the 2nd floor in the back. When I checked in, I met a friendly gentleman who mentioned he was the new owner of the property and they were going through upgrades and changes. But when I saw my room, it looked brand new...in very modern condition. I was pleasantly surprised! And the views of the beautiful mountains of Ouray in the background from my rear 2nd floor room made for a very tranquil setting! You feel like you're staying in the heart of the forest with snow capped peaked vistas in the distance. Ouray is one of the prettiest cities in the United States, in my opinion. At night in the back section of the lodge, they had a bonfire lit and chairs to sit down where you can enjoy and appreciate the pleasant outdoors environment. After I returned from dinner, I did hang out at the fire and relaxed and chatted with other guests at the lodge. It was a real serene setting and it was at this moment when I realized just how grateful I felt for being able to travel and see the beautiful world! Also, the lodge has a rustic feel to it and when I visited in early May of this year....my rate was only $75 with tax for the evening....an absolute bargain for the surroundings and great accommodations. I'm sure though prices head higher when in the summer time and families are traveling. When visiting Ouray I highly recommend staying at Timber Ridge Lodge. Spending the evening here was a genuine highlight of mine along my 10 day national parks journey through Colorado! read more

We paid $160 a night (with tax and fees) for 2 queen beds. It's close to highway and there's some traffic noise, but I didn't have trouble sleeping through it. It has a nice shower with good water pressure. I like that the sink is located outside the bathroom. The internet is unreliable and there's no Tmobile service. There's an RV cafe behind the hotel that has good wifi and a nice place to have breakfast. Came up on a quick get away and found this place on hotels.com. We were a little disappointed that it was a drive away from the main part of Ouray (we didn't want to drink and drive after dinner). We quickly forgot about that minor problem when we got into the room. It was very clean fresh pain on the walls, nice size tvs and big fluffy pillows, and both of the beds had new mattress. The owner was very polite and gave us and upgraded room with a killer view! He also gave us some recommendations on where to eat that night. (Keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion) He also told us about the fire pit in the back and how from 8-10 we can come down bring some wine and mingle with other people staying at the hotel. This was very relaxing after a long drive. Over all I wouldn't mind staying here again. Yes it was a drive into the main part of Ouray to get food and such but it was very quick 3 mins down the road. During our stay there was quite a lot of road construction going on so we didn't walk. Also they did install individual ac units into each room. read more

Stayed here for 4 nights while motorcycle riding and Jeeping in the area. An amazing location and a great little lodge. Extremely clean lodge and great service. The owners were very helpful with suggesting places to go for dinner and entertainment. Stayed here over the weekend and this place was incredible. Julie and her husband are amazing people and made me feel so comfortable staying there due to current times. They were doing deep cleanings and delivering things to your room when needed and I felt so safe being there. The lodge is a stones throw from the river and you can walk into town. Julie gave me and my guest a list of the best hikes and things to see during our weekend and was so thorough and patient with all my questions. The lodge is so cute with a wooden cabin feel in the lobby and the rooms have everything you could need. There's a little fire pit outside with s'mores at night and a set of cornhole. You literally can't beat the price to stay here and the location is key. We walked to the trailhead from the lodge on our second day instead of driving in and parking and it was perfect. What a great stay. The staff was so welcoming and had great info about the nearby concert in the park. They were very polite and professional, but still friendly in that amazing Colorado mountain way. The room was fantastic- comfortable, private, clean, and included everything we needed and more for so much less than any hotel in the city. The location was great, too. The low slanted ceilings added to the charm, and the room was fully stocked with towels, extra blankets and the kitchenette had everything you needed (dishes, pots & pans, a blender) to make your own meals. They have a cozy fire pit around which guests sit and chat and relax in the evening. There's a nice river walk trail into town. The Lodge isn't right in town but it's a very short drive or easy walk. We stayed at the Timber Ridge Lodge for 3 nights and I would definitely go back again. It had that cabin the woods feel. Everything went smoothly at check-in. I know the office closes at 9:00 but we really had no reason to go to the office. The room was very clean and updated and the beds are very comfortable. We had a little kitchenette and it had all we needed for utensils and morning coffee and toast. Some hotels have lousy mattresses that are over used but these were very comfortable. They felt particularly comfortable after long days of hiking. The hotel is located down the street from the main part of town but only about a three minute drive and I think it is much quieter. The towels are higher quality than those of similar priced places. They were big and fluffy. I know room cleaning must be requested but the room had plenty of towels and I actually prefer to not have the room cleaned for a short stay. So this place checked the main things I look for in hotel - quality towels, comfortable beds, clean and quiet from street noise. I am only giving it 4 stars because the walls are a little thin. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. I couldn't hear conversation but I did hear the water running in the room next door. The place is older so that could be the reason - however as I said earlier, I will go back in spite of the walls. read more

Regretfully, this motel did not meet our expectations, in part because there is NO AIR CONDITIONING, in the rooms. We were told this after we checked in and were also told that most area motels do not have AC because of how cool it gets at night. The desk person (who I believe was the owner) told us to use the fan in the room and open the window. He said it will cool right off. Well that did not happen. We spent the night getting up and wetting wash clothes with cold water to put on ourselves. We had the bulky fan in front of the window until we went to sleep but then we needed to close the curtains because the windows lead right to where people walk and is right next to the bed. Plus there are bright lights outside the room. We opened the curtains a little and left the fan on but we were up a lot during the night due to the heat. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and it has Wi-Fi. There is no one at the desk after hours and no sign or indication what to do in the event of a problem. When we checked out the sign on the office door said they would be back at 12 noon. The bathroom was pretty nice, however, the water in the shower would fluctuate, apparently when other guests used their water. I doubt I would every go back based on the number of motels in the area. I definitely would not go back in the summer! PS: Most area hotels DO HAVE AC, unlike what we were told. read more

This is a "mom and pop" business which is refreshing these days. While we were not allowed to check in early, the owner was very friendly and helpful. He suggested that we go have lunch while waiting for the 3 PM check in-time. The rooms are big but not fancy. They are clean and provide TV, WiFi, and in room coffee. BTW, no breakfast. The firepit in the back was a nice touch as well. I do think that it was a bit pricey for what you get but I realize that Ouray is a tourist destination in the Summer. The previous reviewer, Steve, must have pushed the owner to get evaporative A/C units for the rooms as ours did have one as well as a powerful fan. Those seemed adequate. Our room was nice and quiet and was a good location for the Ouray Hot Springs Park as well as downtown Ouray. The lodge is small and it was full the nights we were there. We stayed here 3 days while in Ouray. The man at the desk was friendly and checked us in quickly. They close up at 9pm so if you need anything make sure you get is before then. Our room was upstairs in the back. There's a small restaurant and a koa in back of the motel. The room is about the size of a standard bedroom you'd find in a house, with an attached bath. More than adequate for a couple. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was very nicely done. Everything was clean. It was quiet at night. No noise from the koa and no street noise. The only complaint I'd have about the rooms is that there is a free standing air conditioner by the window. You're not allowed to move it or to open the windows which would have been nice in the evenings as it was nice and cool. It was pretty loud, it doesn't bother me because I usually sleep with a fan on but for someone who wants it more quiet it might be an annoyance. Another thing that bothered me some was we put a do not disturbed sign on our door before we went out for the day so they wouldn't have to bother cleaning or changing the bed as we were leaving the next morning. They ignored the sign and came in anyway. That bothered me, I think they should honor your request to not disturb the room. Minor thing I guess. The motel also was a bit far from the center of town, not really walkable. On the pro side you get a 20% discount from the little restaurant in back if you show them your key. It's very simple fare, nothing fancy but it was good and best of all cheap! I'd recommend this motel to friends only real drawback was the air conditioner and the distance from the center of town. read more
