The public restrooms are in this building however, and you will have people coming and going during your event. It wasn't too busy today so not a problem. There is plenty of open grassy area to play, didn't get enough wind to be able to fly the kites, but we were close! But we definitely had a lot of room to kick the soccer ball, throw the football and run around. The grill worked great, it's 4 feet long and we were able to cook plenty of burgers and hotdog and such for the family. There's also a couple of electrical outlets so we were able to plug-in a couple crockpots for beans and such. There are quite a few mice living in this facility, so just be aware of that, but you are out in the country! There are many hikes and such that leave from this location so you could use this as homebase with other family members being able to go out and take a great hike as well. We had a great day and I have a feeling this is going to become a tradition PS. Bring the bug spray :)

Park Terrace Campground was a terrific place for me to camp for the evening. Ideally for anyone…read morecamping...it doesn't get much better than this! I found Park Terrace Campground through my trusty phone app called Campendium. I arrived here on a whim in late afternoon over the summer. I headed straight towards the office and bought myself a campsite for the evening for only $16. That's a real good bargain especially because this Park Terrace Campground offered showers...and usually for those with a tent and ready to camp out...most sites don't have amenities like this unless you pay much more (I'd say in the range of $40 - $50 for the night) staying at RV sites. Also while I was in the office...they sold snacks and any extras you may need to make your stay as efficient as possible. Although I had a late lunch....they were selling fresh popcorn for $1 a bag. Sure...I love popcorn...why not get a bag to munch on. What a pleasant surprise this was. After reserving and paying for my campsite, they told me to just head over the tent campsite area and choose a spot. It was that simple. If I had to describe the surroundings here at Park Terrace...it actually much resembled an RV Site as the place was packed with campers and RV's. Almost every spot had a camper occupying it. And then in the back of the campground was the area for tents. What I very much appreciated about spending the night here was that the tent area had soft grass all around it. So...for those who know. That's very important. Sleeping in your tent on flat grass makes for much more of a comfortable sleep. Where as compared to most places....and especially in remote locations...I was sleeping on hard, dirt ground. The grass was a refreshing welcome! And there were picnic tables along every site, for those interested...you were allowed to barbecue with an electric grill or using charcoal. In the front of Park Terrace was a playground for the kids. The whole campsite was filled with families enjoying the outdoors. Once I set up my tent...I headed straight for the showers. Also, during this summer of 2020 during the pandemic...I was just grateful the showers were accessible. The bathrooms were clean and they had mirrors as well. For me it was a luxury being here with my tent. I was driving cross country around the USA and most of the campgrounds I frequented had no running water with only porter potties. Here at Park Terrace Campground of course there was cell phone reception. So in total...the accommodations were excellent for me. Had I not been on the go...or had there been something meaningful to do in the area...I certainly would have stayed here a 2nd night. Btw, this campground is located in Davenport, Iowa...right on the border with Illinois along Interstate 280. All restaurants, grocery stores or anything you may need were just a short drive away. Finally, the whole setting here at Park Terrace Campground was so relaxing and quiet. I had a wonderful night's sleep. For me this was a 5 star campground. I highly recommend staying here for anyone who's traveling and may need a simple, yet very accommodative place to stay.

Let me just tell you that by the time we left I had booked another weekend and signed up to be on a wait list for a permanent spot. I fell in love with this campground and will cherish the memories we made this Labor Day weekend. From the moment we pulled in I knew I had found something special and a place we would come back to for years to come. This campground feels wonderfully nostalgic yet it's very up-to-date, it is meticulously clean and the grounds are kept nearly perfect. Staff and permanent guests are so very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The owner is very present and you can tell he loves what he does. Prices were fair and I NEVER felt the price gorging and extra charges so many other campgrounds have resorted to. My kids have been to MANY campgrounds but by the time we left they were saying this was their favorite! (My little guy asked to have his next birthday there.) This campground is for family, friends and a lifetime of memories! If you are thinking about booking a stay, give it a try, you will not regret it!

I was 18 years old at the time. My group of friends and I were probably loud and likely obnoxious. When we came in they were full but the owner let us set up shop in a little grassy area that backed to a corn field ( I believe...it's been awhile). At 34 years old I still consider that the most fun weekend of my life. So many of my favorite memories include Emerald Acres. We raised hell in Freeport too (sorry residents for the drive by honkings at 2am) oh and I would also like to apologize to the family that lived right by the campground that had that sweet huge trampoline. My friends dared me to go jump on it at about 3am. I did and got a case of the giggles that ended with me peeing my pants...on your trampoline. I am sorry. Thanks Emerald Acres for putting up with me and my friends, had to not let us stay I wouldn't have about 1000 memories that I hold dear to me. We didn't have phone cameras and facebook back then so all I have is memories. Although it would be pretty cool to see pictures and videos of that. lol I am planing on taking my little guy camping there soon. I remember we found the coolest park (I think Krape Park) out that way and I would love to go back.

Most of the short term sites just have power and electric, but there is a dump site up by the office. The laundry room had two washers and two dryers and worked great during our stay washing was $2.75 and drying was a dollar for 45 minutes. They do have rolls of quarters at the front office. We weren't here most of the time during the day since we were visiting our grandkids, but it looks like the kids here we're having great fun, fishing in the pond, catching fish and turtles! Then realized we had 3 more and paid for them. The lady in the office picked up her radio and said, 3 more for that big party. We loaded up and they shuttled us to the start. There were 13 tubes! (Not sure why 13 instead of 12.) The driver said I never got any message about 3 more people (which was not true). He said our kids would have to ride in the cooler tubes (even though the coolers were there) and we could talk to the office at the end. Now the first mistake, the wrong number of tubes, it's fine, mistakes happen. The second mistake, refusing to fix it was annoying. We tubed. It was less than ideal for the kids, but ok. Pick up all of your trash. At the end of the route, there are garbage cans for your garbage. 3. Reapply your sunscreen. 4. Our group likes to hit Subway before hitting the campground. Something about a sandwhich in the water hits the spot. 5. Bring a change of clothes, towels, shoes (leave in your car). They have shower areas which are very nice for a campground.
