They have electric and water, but no sewer. They do have a dump station. There are towns nearby to find groceries, restaurants and shopping. The preserve has a playground, volleyball, biking/walking paths, and a nearby park with an 18 hole disc golf. We met many friendly families and had beautiful sunsets. The staff is very friendly and the sheriff patrols the site every day making you feel safe.

We camped with four adults and three preschool aged children and there was plenty for all of us to do. We stayed along the river at a tent site, and had plenty of space. The campgrounds were clean and quiet, and only $16 for the night. With little ones, it was especially great that there are clean, stocked restrooms. We really enjoyed being on the river at our site, but also the easy walk along the bike trail that connects to other parks. Overall, I highly recommend this site for easy, nearby camping.

The sites there are pretty, but not especially flat for tents. The pool is nice, well maintained with lots of seating. Great bathrooms, clean and well kept (possibly the cheapest toilet paper on the planet, though). Lots of other fun campground things to do like a game room, hay rides on the weekends, giant chess board, pedal bikes, canoe and peddle boat rentals, basketball courts and a bar. The bar. That seemed to be the source of the bad side of this campground. There's no information about a bar plus VERY loud, late music they play on the weekends on the website and I feel like we got the bait and switch. The rules as listed make it seem like its a family-friendly campground (quiet times are posted and there seem to be strict rules about kids making trouble and being off their sites after curfew). Maybe if you're staying in an RV with the air running this is no big deal to you. Maybe you like taking your kids to a campground where you can go after dark to drink and listen to loud music. This is your place! If not, try a state park. We had a great time at Timber Lake until dark, and then it was a bit of a nightmare. Tenters, and the peace-seeking campers beware.

The boat launch is right across the road from MP. The hosts were nice. They are only checking in people from 12-4. Find your site and your tag is on the post. There are about 10 walk up sites you can get on FCFS basis. Some electric and some primitive sites. Make sure to select the correct one. Beautiful views are with the hike up the cliffs.

The public restrooms are in this building however, and you will have people coming and going during your event. It wasn't too busy today so not a problem. There is plenty of open grassy area to play, didn't get enough wind to be able to fly the kites, but we were close! But we definitely had a lot of room to kick the soccer ball, throw the football and run around. The grill worked great, it's 4 feet long and we were able to cook plenty of burgers and hotdog and such for the family. There's also a couple of electrical outlets so we were able to plug-in a couple crockpots for beans and such. There are quite a few mice living in this facility, so just be aware of that, but you are out in the country! There are many hikes and such that leave from this location so you could use this as homebase with other family members being able to go out and take a great hike as well. We had a great day and I have a feeling this is going to become a tradition PS. Bring the bug spray :)

We didn't have neighbors next to us, which made it very relaxing and quiet. This has been the most expensive campground I have stayed at. Not sure that is worth that amount of money. My site was full of geese poop (that I thought was dog poop at first). I spent a good time cleaning poop before laying my rugs and setting up. The fire pit had garbage on it. For what I paid, I expected someone inspected the site before assigning it to us. Weight the amenities against the price when making your decision. I originally booked just because I wanted to stay in a waterfront site, but I don't think I will return.

Had a wonderful stay at Sun Retreats. We were with a large group together. There is so much to do…read morethat a weekend might prove challenging. Close to fishing on the Rock River. Staff at Sun Retreats were fun and enjoyable. From the miniature golf, basketball, shuffleboard or bounce pad. There was something for everyone. I only gave 5 Stars but if the truth was known, I'd give 20 Stars. We had a Great Memorable Time. Highly recommend.

When I spoke to them on the phone they made sure I knew exactly how to arrive (there is a low bridge in town that can damage RVs). The park was well kept and quiet. Looking at a map, I assumed the "river" next to the park was swimmable, but it actually is a canal that was quite swampy and not anything you would want to swim in. BUT, there is an awesome walking trail along the canal which was great for me and the dogs after a long road trip!

I was especially impressed with their mens room bath and shower! My wife and I were on the road for 28 days and THIS was the cleanest and largest shower I had seen after traveling 6600 miles. We discovered that KOA's have three levels: Journey, Holiday, & Resort. My wife and I enjoyed this Journey as it is the closest to "real camping" with just enough to relax without feeling like you're in some sort of "Disney Resort". I would highly recommend this campground and will stay here again if I ever get the chance!!

Honest rating based on current state of the park, but hopeful the new owners will spruce things up!…read moreThis is a good stopover for a night while traveling through the area, but currently overpriced based on the state of the park. I understand the owners just took over, but would recommend they lower rates until fixing things up. Entrance is a long gravel road. Upon entering, you go down a large hill to get down to the river level where the sites are. Sorta scary but experienced drivers should be fine. Sites are too close together and not level. Very difficult for our big rig to navigate and get set up. Our slides could easily have hit the slides at the site next door had we not lined up carefully. No internet at all and we could only pick up a few subpar TV stations. They have a pool area that looks nice, but pool is currently green and needs to be treated. They also have mini golf that looked fun and just needs to be restored a bit - also not enough balls for multiple families to play at once. Lots of other equipment for kid friendly activities like sand volleyball, pool table, horseshoes, cornhole, large tires and playground to climb on. Unfortunately no bathroom near this area except for a porta potty, which I have personally never seen at an RV park and would not use. Proximity to the river is great - it's pretty and you can rent equipment to explore the river. Proximity to the interstate is not as great, but didn't bother us too much. There are currently a LOT of permanent residents, many of which are in trailers with permanent attachments like porches and garages. Makes the place look run down. Also these properties are below the record water level mark, which is a disaster waiting to happen. In summary - fine for a last minute stopover, but otherwise too expensive for what you're getting. We met the new owners and they seem great and we are hopeful they'll help this place reach its potential!

Highly recommend it! While it is close to I-80, it's perfect if you're traveling that route in your RV and need a place for the night. The entrance road is gravel so proceed slowly when arriving and departing. Bonus: RV accessible gas station across from park entrance! Beautiful setting with perfect access to the river in the 40 fenced acre park, a sparkling pool, playground, volleyball court, mini golf, lots of trees, some sloped sites they're working on leveling. They have started a river rafting business where they'll bus you back after your trip. We'd definitely stay here again if in the area.

Thank you to the folks at Crystal Lake RV Park! We were in search of a last minute place to stay…read moreafter experiencing some delays that kept us from getting to our original destination. They popped up in my Google search for places near where we were. The owner was super helpful and was also mindful of making sure our last minute check in was contactless to maintain social distancing. The lake is closed right now due to Covid, but it looks lovely. The campground is clean and well maintained, plus every spot has a nice picnic table and a fire pit. We only needed a one night stop over, but it's now definitely on our list to come back to and spend more time there--especially once everything is able to open back up again. Our 8 year old was sad we had to leave! Thank you for a pleasant stay and a wonderful experience!
