Love this place, it has a DNR canal that is stocked! Canoe rental , bike rentals. Reasonably priced. A vegetable garden that my grandson loves eating tomatoes right from the garden. Chickens that should have real eggs soon! In and out with ease! Management is new and on top of everything. Showers hot and very clean.

It is under new management. They are no Sheila and Bob but still a fun place to camp. As always the bathrooms were clean. The sites were clean and well maintained. Geneseo is just a few miles away if you forgot anything or want to experience some local Brew Pubs, restaurants, or shopping. Travel a little further for more big city activities. The Hennepin Canal Parkway is right next to the campground for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. Travel just past the canal for Geneseo Prairie Park for off road cycling and trail running opportunities. The only less than awesome item is the WiFi, which they said they are working on upgrading.

Had a great overnight stay at the lovely Geneseo Campground in Geneseo, Illinois. Owners Bob & Sheila are delightful and very helpful. Campground is clean and in a beautiful setting near water. FHU pull thru sites (we paid $35), adequate enough for our 42' fifth wheel. Not huge lots, but room enough. MAKE SURE YOU CALL THE CAMPGROUND FOR DIRECTIONS. GPS takes you under an extremly LOW BRIDGE, but the owners provide a safe alternate route. -- at Geneseo Campground.

Very clean and quiet campground. It was completely full but quiet. The restrooms and showers were spotless. Bring your fishing poles, kayaks and bicycles because you are right next to the Hennipin Canal.

Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, and lots of trees. Nice campground. Be aware of the low bridge (10ft) driving through town!

We stopped on our way x country and got a great night of sleep , hot shower & loved the views of America's heart land . Went into town & ate at Red's bar & grill which was awesome! The town was so quaint with pizza shop, coffee shop & market & giftshop . Again , just so down to earth. A man met us at the gate and showed us to our site telling us that they were building a pool for next year. Their daughter in law answered the phone when we called from hours away and was so kind & helpful. They were just starting to decorate for Halloween and doing a amazingly creative job . I love Halloween so I throughly enjoyed it. We already said that we will make this a stopping point each way every year and spend a extra day or 2 here.

The sites there are pretty, but not especially flat for tents. The pool is nice, well maintained with lots of seating. Great bathrooms, clean and well kept (possibly the cheapest toilet paper on the planet, though). Lots of other fun campground things to do like a game room, hay rides on the weekends, giant chess board, pedal bikes, canoe and peddle boat rentals, basketball courts and a bar. The bar. That seemed to be the source of the bad side of this campground. There's no information about a bar plus VERY loud, late music they play on the weekends on the website and I feel like we got the bait and switch. The rules as listed make it seem like its a family-friendly campground (quiet times are posted and there seem to be strict rules about kids making trouble and being off their sites after curfew). Maybe if you're staying in an RV with the air running this is no big deal to you. Maybe you like taking your kids to a campground where you can go after dark to drink and listen to loud music. This is your place! If not, try a state park. We had a great time at Timber Lake until dark, and then it was a bit of a nightmare. Tenters, and the peace-seeking campers beware.

They had Karaoke on Friday night and a band on Saturday in a barn on the property. We didn't go to either but since the barn is fairly enclosed it didn't bother us. This place is pretty quiet durning the day, like I said it's a super relaxed vibe, maybe because when we were there lots of spots were open. Management is great, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There are lots of seasonal's and plenty of nightly camping spots too. The RV spots are basically in a grassy field with some gravel, not perfectly level but not so bad that we had to pull out leveling blocks. Big nice trees everywhere. They have a nice playground and a great pond! It seems that they go to the effort to dump fresh sand on one side of the pond so that it's kind of like a beach and it makes to bottom of the pond sandy instead of muddy. There is also a big fountain in the pond that helps circulate the water and I suspect filter some of it. They don't have wifi but we didn't mind. We have been to so many RV parks that "offer" wifi but then you get there and it's so crapy that you feel a little cheated. I'd much rather know what I'm in for up front. AND we had great cell service (att) so we could do anything we wanted to. Happy camping!!

I said that we didn't even know this place existed until after there office was closed. We're just passing through. She said once again that most people call during office hours. I reiterated that we just found out about this place after their office was closed. For the prices they are charging it would be nice to have access to all amenities upon arrival even if it is outside of office hours. She just turned her back and stomped away. Very poor customer experience. The campground was decent. I truly wish that I could say that I were joking about how horrible our entire experience was but…read moreI'm not. My wife and I went to play a round of golf here on our wedding anniversary. I have played this course three times in about eight years, the last two being in the last two or three years. The employee working there (Elias was his name) was beyond rude and disrespectful. We were going to book our tee time online because it was going to save ten dollars per person but ended up not booking it before we arrived. Elias told us that we had to book our tee time in advance and wasn't going to honor that pricing so we said that we could come back after booking a later time. He was obviously annoyed by this but grudgingly agreed to let us book online for the discounted pricing offered through their own online advertising. As my wife booked the reservation I inquired as to the condition of the course because the last time I played here the "greens" were literally Dirt (little to no patches of grass) and Elias was obviously further annoyed by this. He went on to ask us if we had any of our own drinks to which I replied we did not. He immediately went into telling us that, "If I see you with any drinks, I can throw you off the course" as he pointed up to a sign in the clubhouse. I told him that's fine, I did not have any outside beverages that I was bringing on the course and based off of his attitude, I would not be purchasing anything else from him anyway. We went out to retrieve our golf cart and load our clubs when Elias came out after us and asked us if we had signed out our cart to which I replied we hadn't and I was unaware we needed to since he did not say anything about it. He said, again with an attitude, that you need to come in and sign out the cart before you can play. I went back into the club house to sign out the cart and this is were things got even more infuriating and disrespectful. While following me in, Elias asked me what what wrong with my leg with a tone of disgust in his voice. I asked him what it was he was referring to and he actually came up and poked my left leg on a varicose vein. I told him that is a varicose vein, in shock that he actually thought it appropriate to physically poke or ask about a customers physical ailments! I then signed the clipboard for our cart rental and as I was starting to walk back out, he accused me of stealing his pen which I had pulled from my own pocket. I take accusations towards my character and integrity very seriously. I told him this is my pen and asked him if he needed to see it and he actually replied yes to me. I held it out to show him that it was a pen from a local bank and if he was that concerned about his pen, he could go there and they would give him one for free too. I started walking out and Elias could not leave well enough alone and again followed me out of the building to argue with me about a pen and how we were too cheap to pay the full price of a round of golf! At this point, I told him that I would be filling out online reviews to share my experience and he stated, "That's okay, I know who you are and I will put your name and information on the internet too!" There is nothing like receiving threats from a business towards your spouse that has said little to nothing to the employee saying his is going to put her information out. In regards to the course quality, after our experience with Elias, the first green was nearly fifty percent dirt like the last time I played it. As we went on, it was obvious the course is in horrible condition and severely neglected. This was the case on nearly every hole. The ninth tee box had no tee up markers and had not been mowed in a long time with grass approximately six inches long. At this point, we could see Elias sitting by our car and as we loaded our clubs he told my wife that he found her on Facebook and started naming people he thought she was friends with as if to further attempt some intimidation? Inexcusable disrespect & lack of professionalism from this business. NEVER Returning
