The public restrooms are in this building however, and you will have people coming and going during your event. It wasn't too busy today so not a problem. There is plenty of open grassy area to play, didn't get enough wind to be able to fly the kites, but we were close! But we definitely had a lot of room to kick the soccer ball, throw the football and run around. The grill worked great, it's 4 feet long and we were able to cook plenty of burgers and hotdog and such for the family. There's also a couple of electrical outlets so we were able to plug-in a couple crockpots for beans and such. There are quite a few mice living in this facility, so just be aware of that, but you are out in the country! There are many hikes and such that leave from this location so you could use this as homebase with other family members being able to go out and take a great hike as well. The sites there are pretty, but not especially flat for tents. The pool is nice, well maintained with lots of seating. Great bathrooms, clean and well kept (possibly the cheapest toilet paper on the planet, though). Lots of other fun campground things to do like a game room, hay rides on the weekends, giant chess board, pedal bikes, canoe and peddle boat rentals, basketball courts and a bar. The bar. That seemed to be the source of the bad side of this campground. There's no information about a bar plus VERY loud, late music they play on the weekends on the website and I feel like we got the bait and switch. The rules as listed make it seem like its a family-friendly campground (quiet times are posted and there seem to be strict rules about kids making trouble and being off their sites after curfew). Maybe if you're staying in an RV with the air running this is no big deal to you. Maybe you like taking your kids to a campground where you can go after dark to drink and listen to loud music. This is your place! If not, try a state park. We had a great time at Timber Lake until dark, and then it was a bit of a nightmare. Tenters, and the peace-seeking campers beware.

This morning I am feeling very appreciative of Timber Lake so I felt the need to type out my thoughts. Timber Lake is incredibly well maintained. The tent sites by the lake are spacious and feel very private. I would suggest putting up your tent with the door facing the lake. The tent blocks the RV sites and you really have the feeling that you're alone. It's lovely. The pool, restrooms, and showers are clean and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and the manager lives on the property. I read a few of the other reviews and I'd like to comment on the bar situation. Yes, there's a bar and yes - they play music. However, Timber Lake DOES enforce it's posted quiet hours. We have never been kept awake by people partying here. It's kind of the best of both worlds. You can go to the bar, the pool, etc... but you also have a restful/peaceful night. They have a general store in case you forget something. One of my favorite things about Timber Lake is that they have coffee, donuts, and biscuits and gravy available on Saturday and Sunday mornings for very little money. There are indoor tables and chairs set up if you'd like to eat your breakfast inside while watching the news. For the theatre-lovers among you - Timber Lake Playhouse is just up the driveway. They put on fun/lively musicals and plays with professional actors/directors/etc. I highly recommend this place for tent campers, cabin campers, and RV folks. They helped contracting for and planning around this event so easily. A group of us (friends/classmates) came for a get-away retreat from the city, and the entire time, we were in awe. Nothing can beat the space itself (vast, lots of room to hike, bonfire, yoga; we even had a track&field style relay in the backyard). The rooms were nice, spacious, and comfortable. There was a lot of sitting room/smaller living rooms, so we could all take time to be in smaller groups if we wanted to. The game rooms and movie theaters were wonderful and kept us occupied all weekend. The kitchen is marvelous, and we just kept cooking all weekend because we were so obsessed. We played trivia while drinking wine in the sitting room/family room with the fireplace. Above all, Keith and Devin are great hosts. They were onsite (in a different building, so it was enough distance to give us privacy but not too far and were always available if we had questions), responsive, and understanding. I contacted Keith some time in December of 2023 to learn more about the space, and while we had other options, the clear respect and compassion Keith exuded for me as a potential guest and the passion and excitement he had for the space really drew me in. He even offered a group tour before signing the contract. I trusted him entirely, and he was absolutely so generous and fair throughout the whole process. We're coming back in less than three months because our time there was simply magical. It's hard to admit, but part of me hopes it stays a hidden gem just for us to enjoy. Yet, deep down, I know that anyone who discovers this place will feel as blessed as we did. I truly wish for others to experience the joy and tranquility that we found there.

I called and a nice person named Annette answered and said that yes they were open. I found the place with help from signs leading to the place. I was met and checked in with Annette. Found out that I would have a tent area to myself as it was during the week. I bought some firewood and Annette's husband John delivered it to my site, which was on the river. Very peaceful. They had the usual amenities I.E full hookups plus volleyball, horseshoe pits, showers, hiking and horse trails and a nice beach. John and Annette have a real nice place there. Go check it out.

Pit toilets, a fire pit and bench at each campsite, and a river, that's it for amenities. Jerome can't make a living on 30 diary and 50 beef cattle with his brother and wife working outside their regular 40 hour jobs to keep the farm going. "A thousand cattle farm nearby is closing, so how can anyone make it? There are no young people here." If you want to stay, just show up and let yourself in. The gate is never locked. Jerome doesn't have a cell phone or computer and usually isn't home to answer the landline phone. "I live in the Stone Age," says the guy with a stone barn on a stone bluff in a town named Rock. Jerome will find you before sunset when he makes rounds and collect payment then. $12 he said. I paid more. If you go, please tip him well. Castle Rock Park is across the river and a great place to hike. Snow Bottom SNA north parcel is minutes away and south parcel not many more. REM Castle Rock DNR land includes Castle Rock Park and park of Cedar Cliff across the highway. There's nothing to do in Castle Rock, and nowhere to shop. Come prepared. You won't have any traffic or neighbors.

There shower and bath facilities were clean and modern, even the smaller building on the far end was a toilet and not a hole in the ground. they were clean and did not smell at all, I don't even think I saw any bugs in any of them. There was wood on site for purchasing and i think I saw a pop machine but I am not sure, also there was no snack shop but that was not a concern for me. I would recommend this place to anyone and I plan on going back, the sooner the better!

Water pressure and power are reliable and the sewer access was very good as well. The site (31) was level and able to easily fit my 37 ft travel trailer. They had close and adequate parking for extra vehicles if you have an extra vehicle with you. The shower area is clean and adequate. They have two washers and dryers on site and a small store within the office area. They also have firewood for $8 a bundle and they also have other items one can purchase while there. They also rent kayaks if one is interested in that. Would recommend and will stay there again in the future.

Booking and paying online was easy. Printed the waiver and brought it in. We arrived 15 min early as requested, but no one was in the office. Had to ask someone to get a worker, and someone finally came in 5 min after or scheduled time. A little annoying, but the rest of the trail ride was great, so water under the bridge. Brandi and Bethany helped us on our horses (Pengo and Spartan) and gave us a quick run down of how to guide the horses. The horses were very easy to ride, each with their own amusing personalities. Our trail guide was friendly, answered any questions we had (we were the only riders), and pointed out a few of the other resident horses and little tid bits about them. Also gave us some space to really just enjoy the ride, which was perfect. The trail itself was a basic trail that traversed the Galena territory, went by some houses, up and down some gentle hills. We got back after an hour and they took some photos for us. All in all, it was a great ride and we wouldn't hesitate to come back in the future.
