They have coffee mugs of locals hung on the walls, vintage photos and news clippings, and incredible northern decor. We came in on a Monday afternoon in fall and ordered: - biscuits and gravy: my husband LOVED this - omelette with hash browns: delicious and crispy I expected bigger portions for the price, so was a bit disappointed in that as we were ready for a filling hearty brunch! The service was funny - our server must have been bored and really wanted to chat us up, which we didn't mind. I'd love to see this place more busy and more folks to know about it! We were the only ones in at that time. They also sell some convenience store items like OTC meds, non perishables, dry goods, etc. They also carry some local products and tourist goods. I was just gonna do and grab and go for pie and then get something up the road later. I was thinking man this place must be good for the wait. But oh well. Well when I went in They said they had a Seat ready. Oh okay great I thought:) Server seemed irritated from the get go. Meat loaf was decent. Mash potatoes and bread were very excellent. She brought my food and my drink in a reasonable time frame. But she seemed off. Barely would acknowledge me when she took my order. Okay. I figured it was 4:30 when I got there. She is probably just tired and it's busy. That's was fine. I thought. I asked her if I could get another soda in a few minutes when she brought my meal. She seemed irritated all over again. She ignored me from there on. Halfway through I said excuse me Miss? I was trying to just get her attention since she wouldn't make any eye contact after she dropped off my food. I had the empty glass at the end of the table for about 15 min into my meal. I saw her look over her shoulder and kept walking. I was like did I just see that? Okay. Then I see her bring a milk shake to the table next to me. She went to walk away again. I tried to flag her down again and said excuse me Miss? . She said I will be with you in a minute. With an abrupt dirty look and proceeds to take another tables order. It's a very small dining room which would normally add to the charm of this place. I was done with the meal for about five minutes she then brings me my soda. It seemed on purpose or passive aggressive. Like she was trying to put me in my place or something. It would have been nice to have this while eating my meal. I was thinking what is going on here? I asked her if she could just bring me the check. Why would I continue to ask for pie which was the only thing I wanted anyways after how weird this server was being. She proceeds to slam the check down and she sees I have a credit card in my hand and says pay me when you're ready and walks away again. I was thinking what is happening right now. When she came back I. asked her did I do anything to offend you? She went off. She got defensive and said she did nothing wrong. Do you want my manager? She said . I said no. I just wanted another soda and you seemed to be blatantly me. I don't need your Manager. Then she left and came back and said I don't like being yelled at. I was thinking this is crazy. I was like whaaaaaaaat? That is the one gosh Darn thing I asked for during that whole meal. Heaven for bid if you would give a person water with their meal. I left a $0.00. Usually I leave more than 20%. Wow just wow. The other server in the restaurant was as sweet as pie. She was so nice and friendly. I wished for that server instead. Maybe I would have gotten that darn pie.
