    Biscuit breakfast sandwich
    Jami W.

Stopped in for coffee and food before heading out for a day of hiking and loved it so much we stopped back in the afternoon for another cup of coffee. I had the breakfast sandwich on the house made biscuit and my husband had the bagel breakfast sandwich. They were both outstanding and I LOVED the homemade biscuit. We shared the white chocolate raspberry scone as well, which was great. It was very busy for a fall weekend and the food came out super quick. We loved our cardamom lattes as well. Was very easy to get to off of highway 61 so highly recommend stopping in! They also sold local artwork and other nick knacks - very cute spot.

Oh my gosh one of the best biscuits I've ever had. They're also dog friendly which was nice so me and my guy could get out of the cold! Worth the stop

We found Cove Point, it looked quaint, so we thought, why not? Walking in, we were greeted by a gentleman who was not entirely personable, but oh well. We were seated promptly and had an opportunity to review the menu. The menu itself was limited to some degree, which was fine. There were several pizza options, salads, and sandwiches available. They have a full bar, local beers, and several non-alcoholic beverages. The one thing that really stood out to me was the prices. My wife had a salad wrap, and I had their standard burger. Both were $17.00?? This far up north?? The food was fine, certainly nothing to write home about, but I can't help but feel that both those entrees were a wee bit overpriced.

It is small, not many tables but wasn't terribly busy on a Thursday at lunch. It has a north woods feel with a cute mural covering one wall. We started with totchos which were fine and a local tap beer. My husband got the wings, they were crispy and tasty, he was pleasantly surprised. There were only six wings in the order so the price at $16 was rather steep but expected being on the north shore. I ordered the turkey focaccia sandwich. It was so good! The bread was fresh and crispy and the turkey was thick cut turkey slabs with fresh sprouts and aioli. It was a big sandwich but I ate it all because it was wonderful. I upgraded to onion rings, they were average.

The coffee was of good quality (Duluth Coffee Company methinks) and refilled before empty. Upon seein the gnomes, I said, "Oh, no it must be getting near the end of gnome season," but the friendly gentlemen remarked happily, "it's always gnome season." Haha, hard to disagree! Some extremely cool homemade crafts were in abundance within Louise's Place, including gnomes, various knitted pieces, and greeting cards, which I ended up getting, along with some tableclothes (since gifted out, no picture available of those). For the quality of the food, the value was great!

You can park in front of the door, but when there's a crowd, most people park along Hefflefinger's shoulders. While they don't accept credit cards, they do have an ATM so you can get cash. I believe they also take checks. The food is very good; we had lunch and breakfast on separate days. Breakfast is only served until 11 AM, but is worth the effort. The menu is not huge, but you have a good sampling of items, and whatever you get will be tasty and served hot. While you wait for your food, or if you are just hanging around, you can purchase t-shirts, hoodies, and other such clothing; play a game of pool; listen to music on the juke box; admire the collection of Lake Superior agates on display; or look at the pictures of moose or the moose antler artwork on display. A bulletin board in the entry has cards for local businesses and services, too. While the place isn't elegant, it is fantastic as a local restaurant to get good food and relax.

We played it "safe" and ordered the nachos--and I say this without exaggeration: they were the best nacho platter I've ever had. Not just great tasting, but genuinely beautiful to look at. This wasn't a pile-of-chips-with-stuff-dumped-on-top situation. This was thoughtfully made, layered, and clearly crafted from real ingredients. Nothing felt canned or boxed. Fresh toppings, balanced flavors, and even details like using spinach instead of iceberg lettuce showed real care and intention. You could tell someone in that kitchen actually cares about what goes out on the plate. If you're anywhere near the area and even thinking about stopping in--do it. Great food, great vibe, and one of those meals that surprises you in the best possible way. We'll absolutely be back.
