Instead, it was matcha latte with syrup at the bottom, which I believe was lavender syrup. It's also topped with their coffee cloud cold foam. Regardless, it was darn good! After doing a bit of research on Google, turns out that the combination of matcha latte and lavender is supposed to resemble the taste of milk that's leftover from a bowl of fruit loops. If you're not feeling like coffee, tea or a latte, they have other drinks available including beer and wine. I thought I was coming into a coffee shop, but they actually had a lot more to offer, including pizza on their menu.

It was perfect to get some fruit, drinks, and breakfast items. This grocery store is located in a plaza with a Starbucks. It is next door to a Liquor Mart. There was a lot of parking available. This store also has a Mobil gas station across from it. When you walk into the store, the produce section is in front of you. It looked fresh and appealing. I ended up getting a bag of imperfectly perfect gala apples, which lasted my entire stay in Winnipeg. They were delicious. I also picked up a twelve-pack of Pepsi zero lime. It also lasted my entire stay. It was refreshing to consume cold with some ice. I also got some unsweetened vanilla almond beverage. It was the same deal having it cold, but without a ton of sugar. The vanilla was subtle. I realized that I didn't have any breakfast items, which prompted me to return the following day. Done! I got some Pizza Pops that were on sale. This store had the limited taco version that is awesome if you like a bit of spice to them. I then got distracted seeing Hostess cakes going for $2 a box. I don't recall ever having the vanilla cupcakes, so I got some. You get six cupcakes, with two of them hermetically sealed in each package. I managed to take a couple back home after this trip. They were smaller than I had expected, a bit on the sweeter side, but they were enjoyable for dessert. I got a human cashier both times. Both staffers (female on the first day and male the second) were helpful and friendly. I paid with a credit card both times. Done! The plastic bag rule isn't as strict in Manitoba as it is in Ontario. I came prepared with a canvas tote bag (habit!), but you can get a bag if you need one. I used a shopping cart the first time and a basket the second. I never had any issues using either one or finding an available one. This store has a pharmacy and a wellness station. Thenkatterballowsnyou to test your blood pressure and more. I like that this store posts notices about the hours of operation for the week, thanks to Canada Day landing on a Monday. You see them by the baskets before you officially walk into the store. This store also takes a flyer and posts each page up for folks to read. It's a nice touch. Prices were decent at this No Frills. It had everything that I needed. I enjoyed shopping here during my stay. I'd return here when I'm staying in the Island Lakes area again. (263)

I rarely rate any Timmy's five stars on Yelp. This one deserves it for a number of reasons. I'm on Facebook, mainly to keep in contact with friends and family. It works for me, as Toronto is my hometown. I lived in Winnipeg and Rochester, MN, and returned to Markham. On Canada Day, I reached out to a former colleague when we both worked for a company in Winnipeg. It was my first full-time job after getting my undergraduate degree. She was a manager. I was a technical support specialist. She occasionally monitored my support calls with customers for quality. I didn't directly report to her, but I always scored well on these monitored calls. To make a long story short, we had a great working relationship. She got me into being a part of a company-wide video on how to provide excellent customer service. I don't know if it's still alive and kicking. Maybe it should be burned. Her son needed help with high school math. I tutored him. I didn't have a car back then and was fine taking the bus to their home. She and her hubby were so nice. They drove over to my apartment to pick me up and drive down to their home in St. Vital, which is the south end of the city. He passed grade 11 math. I was happy. His parents were relieved. We became friends. We have stayed in touch since I left the company and moved around. I asked her if she'd like to do coffee and catch up. She immediately said yes. I let her set the location. She chose this Timmy's in the food court at St. Vital Centre. Cool! Her husband tagged along. He and I share the same birthday. We met the day after our special day. I parked by the entrance closest to the food court. I got there early and stood fairly close to Timmy's. I saw both of them walk towards me. I was elated to see them. It was mutual. She looked at me and said that she didn't remember how tall I was. I guess sitting down and taking support calls would disguise the fact that I have legs. We approached the Timmy's counter. We had the nicest man take our order. They got coffee and retro donuts. I got a medium iced coffee with oat beverage and a walnut crunch. The cool thing about being the youngest out of the three of us was that I could get my Timmy's rewards barcode scanned, followed by paying for everything quickly. They thanked me. It was the least that I could do for them to come out and say hi. It didn't take long for our food and drinks to be made. I thanked the nice man. We found a table with seat in the food court. We ate, drank, and had a lovely conversation. I loved my iced coffee with oat beverage. It was cold and yummy. My walnut crunch was delicious. It was my first time ever having it, so I can't be terribly nostalgic about this classic retro donut. It was slightly sweet with chopped walnuts and a sugary glaze around it. It's cool chatting with a fellow Cancerian. I always find that I remember certain things more vividly than most. I talked about Branigans, a restaurant that used to be by the entrance, along with HMV. Her husband nodded and supported every weird memory that I had of stores and businesses that used to be at this mall. It was nice seeing and chatting with them. They played an important part of my life as a Winnipegger and our reunion was long overdue. I loved spending time with both of them. I should see them more often when I'm in town. We hugged before we left. It was one of the best highlights of my Winnipeg vacation, with Timmy's playing a memorable part of our meetup. This Timmy's may suck to some. The baristas were friendly and helpful, the service was quick, and the food and coffee were both delicious. A lot of the time, a milk drink like this can have a pretty flat flavour profile, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that Little Sister's espresso shots have a nice complexity and nuance that shines through the creamy milk. Over the course of a few days in Winnipeg, I was here more than once and got multiple drinks both times and left with two bags of beans, for myself and a friend. What more do you need to know?
