Can't get fresher than that! They started their business far away from the Okanagan in Cowichan Bay back in 2004. Recently they opened up this new second location in the heart of the Okanagan on Main Street in Summerland. They have a variety of organic grains available including red fife, spelt, and rye. And they also have some that weren't labeled as organic, but seem to come from cleaner sources including Kamut and a series of Vancouver Island Red Spring wheats from smaller farms. The rye bread looked delicious - so couldn't resist getting a loaf. It had a superb crust and a dense crumb. It was dusted in flour (perhaps just a tad too much, but I'm nitpicking). I was under the impression that they'd give me half a scoop of each flavor in the bowl, as they do at the gelato shops in Vancouver when you order two flavors. But NO! Here they filled a small bowl with a HUGE scoop of one flavor, and then put another HUGE scoop of the second flavor on top! I am not exaggerating, each scoop was the equivalent of three scoops. Even my kid's one scoop was as big as three scoops. So the portions here are HUMONGOUS. Which is not a bad thing, I suppose, but there was NO WAY we could eat all that we were given. Not even close! And despite it being a cool and breezy night, the ice cream started melting immediately. In retrospect, had we known how incredibly generous the portion sizes were here, we would have ordered "one" scoop of ice cream and shared it.
