Plenty of food stands to choose from and accessible bathrooms can be found throughout the stadium. Parking is 7 dollars in the lot across from the stadium but you can find free street parking near by.

This past August, I got a chance to watch the Mets take on the home-team Red Wings as part of a corporate event. The schedule gods were friendly so I could root for my hometown team as a visitor to this pretty ballpark. Innovative Field is nestled in downtown Rochester and has a cool backdrop of some of the city's buildings. I really liked that the park is part of their downtown's identity as Syracuse's is not. Parking was nearby and fairly easy to find. Their gift shop is expansive and had lots of fun items to take home including their alternate jerseys (the garbage plates) and some of the diversity night jerseys and hats. I browsed but didn't buy. Food is pretty standard fare though they have a cool pub style area to get a beer and it has tv's to watch the action while you're enjoying a drink. For some reason, the hot dog buns are like a italian sub roll and engulf the dog - too heavy for a bun and too bready. Not sure what local place they are supporting, but this was my only complaint about their food. As with any park, your mileage may vary with the sunshine/sunset depending on which side you sit on. We sat in an outfield area near the scoreboards and it was pretty brutal :) Overall, a great place to watch a ballgame. I've been to better, but this one is a gem for Rochester-area baseball fans.

Saline Stadium is located in California and is named after the type of implants that girls (and…read moreboys) in those parts tend to prefer. They're also considering renaming the San Jose area as "Saline Valley." But that's another story. And this is not that stadium. I've been to Sahlen's stadium probably 10 times, though only 3 or 4 times to see the wonderful WNY Flash women's team - the best in the country, no less. The other times were all to see the Rhinos. It's a really fantastic stadium for soccer, especially at night. Probably my fave non-MLS soccer stadium in the USA. Employees are friendly and prices are surprisingly low for both teams. This stadium is a lovely three-sided stadium with two home soccer teams: the WNY Flash and the Rochester Raging Rhinos. Both teams are incredibly successful. The Rhinos in the 2nd/3rd tier (depending on who you ask) but not in the last few years. The WNY Flash have been utterly dominant in the top tier of women's soccer for the last few years, and are absolutely amazing. Sadly, (a) the city is sueing the Rhinos due to nonpayment for the facilities, and (b) not a lot of people come to watch the games here. But hopefully that will change one day, because WNY is very lucky to have 2 such amazing soccer teams, and with any luck, one day, the Rhinos will be in the MLS, and the Flash will have as much attention as the LA Galaxy or NYC FC or the amazing Seattle Sounders. And if the stadium ever has a going-out-of-busines sale, then it could be Sale-ends Stadium. But let's hope that never happens.

You can buy a soft pretzel, a beer and watch a soccer game. They incorporate a lot of kid friendly things as well. There is always a bunch of children running around and having fun. Convenient location for biking/commuting/busing? Check. Ample parking? Check. Bonus points for being managed by a group of some of the best people- the staff are really great, and there's a community of regular skaters that make this place a second home for many, not just a facility selling ice time. Helpful fyi: - apparently this rink is cold. I'm a bad judge of this, but I'm good at judging my non-skate friends who come to spectate or who don't usually ice skate. Bring layers to be safe. Comparing to other rinks I would say it's nowhere near as cold as RITs hockey rink at Polissini Arena or Paul Lewis rink, but it's not... warm? -no regular snack bar/cafe here. They have one, but it's only used during hockey games or other special times of high volume/staffing -you can spectate through some smaller panes in the lobby- there's a few chairs/couches and it is warm in there, but it's not set up as a true "viewing" space. During public sessions, the bleachers aren't out, but there are tables and chairs to sit at to put on skates, and a central place to keep your things. -they have scooters/pushers you can use for free for kids learning how to skate -season for this rink is typically only Sep-April, because in the summer this facility also serves as as the admin building for the parks and large newly renovated pool out front which is honestly how most people know about the rink! This rink is one of my favorites in the Roc for it's still somewhat lesser known existence and the casual vibe it maintains as a municipal rink funded by the city. Since it's part of the park, when the weather warmer you can bring a picnic and plan to spend time in nature before or after the ice. This rink is the indoor twin of the outdoor rink at MLK in downtown, but most people don't make that connection.
