I really like RuckHouse…read more If you're looking for a full body workout (and really, we all should be), head over for a class. It's a circuit training/HIIT style workout, where you roll around the studio and run through a series of different exercises designed to get your whole body moving and sweating and just in better overall shape. There's some work on machines (ski, treadmill, bike, etc.), weights, bodyweight exercises, and more. If you've ever done F45 or something similar, it's not far off, but it's a cool local shop with personable coaches in a clean environment with surprisingly nice facilities and even products in the bathroom for when you're through. Everyone we spoke with from the front desk to the trainers leading the session to the other folks working out seemed cool, and we'll definitely be back when we're in town. Like most workouts (and many other things in life), you get out what you put in. Meaning, if you come in ready to see what your body can do, you'll get a great sweat on. They have a shirt for sale that says, "But did you die?" And I like that. Bring your own towel.

I've never had bad time at Ruckhouse. The trainers are friendly, knowledgeable, fun, and tough!…read moreThey know when and how to push you and still make the experience amazing. The training facility is always clean, organized, and well maintained. There's a lounge area, shake bar, and locker room as well. There's plenty of parking and a variety of classes to find what you're looking for. The best part about this place is not the workout or building but rather the people. Every person that walks through that door I consider family even if I haven't met them yet. This place draws the best members and staff. If you're looking for more than just a gym choose Ruckhouse Athletics!

DO NOT JOIN LA FITNESS!!!…read more The reason are as follows: 1. When I initially talked to my salesperson he told me that the club was getting a red light sauna as the current one was not working, I assumed it would be soon but the sauna has not worked in 10 weeks since I have been a member which is absurd/ridiculous for a fitness club...I used to own a fitness club with indoor tennis, large fitness room, (at the time one of the biggest in upstate N.Y.), aerobics, pro shop, nice locker rooms with a sauna...if the sauna ever broke down which happened frequently as members would pour water on the coils and short circuit them I would FedEx the appropriate parts and get it fixed ASAP...plus the salesperson was not working there days after I joined so he probably knew that and said anything to sell a membership and assuming get a commission 2. In my opinion the club is oversold with memberships as no matter what time I come in there to work out it's tough getting on any piece of equipment as there's so many people working out 3. I had a member try to walk out with my jacket which I moved around with me as I worked out as didn't want to use your locker rooms 4. I don't want to use your locker room as the one day I forgot my flip flops and I got a wart on the bottom of my foot from your locker room floor 5. The main reason I joined your club is that you had a sauna versus Planet Fitness which did not 6. I have since joined Planet Fitness, both your club and PF are about the same distance and time from my house on East Ave and PF has probably 3x the equipment and space of your club, better machines with at least 2 of every plate loaded machine which usually means no waiting for a machine to work out on + they have more free weights than yours 7. Numerous times your club was dirty, noticeably the floors on the fitness areas 8. I tripped over your vacuum cord which has a 30-40' extension cord...I'm almost 77 and luckily I caught myself and didn't fall which could have been a lawsuit...I own a 4,000 sq. ft. home with 3 stories, (1875 house), and I have the same vacuum which is cordless for safety and ease of moving around and the last club I belonged to, (Midtown), had the cordless backpack vacuum so members wouldn't trip over a long cord and for ease of movement and safety and was faster as no cord to deal with...if I can have a cordless one as a homeowner I'm sure a big corporation like LA Fitness can afford one 9. I previously emailed the manager or so I thought but it was a generic email to LA Fit on a Friday and she never got back to me, I was told at the front desk that I could email her directly from the web site but it was a common email only...after I complained to her (Abby) at the front desk the next Monday she probably looked for it and got back to me in a day or so after that...I've taught small business administration and entrepreneurship at the college level and waiting 4-5 days to respond to a customer's complaint is not acceptable in a well run company...when I complained to her about the sauna she were cordial but kept giving me the run around about it and when it would be fixed and refused to give me any club credit for lack of services - the sauna - which was the main reason I joined your club 10. So I'm leaving LA Fitness and their lack of getting the sauna fixed in 10 weeks means they will lose my membership for many years to come, I've worked out and been an athlete since the 4th grade and will never stop belonging to a gym so LA lost thousands of dollars on my future membership and after the review I post which will be much of the above, you will lose numerous future members and cost the club 10's of thousands of dollars 11. The spin bikes are from maybe 2005 at the best and they are the worst spin bikes I have ever used in 25+ years...and they have maybe 2-3 spin classes a week, I only ever saw one 12. This "Gym" is like a used car lot from 1970 with sales people having desks to sit you down to hard sell you a membership for a "special deal" if you join that day...lying about anything to sell a membership and have that same slimy feeling of those old time used car sales people 13. And when I walked into the club and talked to Abby (East Ave Club in Brighton) I was told that initially I had paid for the first and last month so I have been billed for an extra month upfront so if you want to cancel they get an extra month out of you...what a scam from old time car dealers and scummy salespeople from clubs in the 1970's + 1980's and 1990's Mark McCarthy

I have been going to…read morethe RAC for women since May 2017 and I'm already counting the days until my membership is over. Thinking about paying it out or just signing up for a new gym until this one runs out. Here are my grievances: 1. They offer these "Power 30" classes you have to buy beyond your membership to utilize. They are actually pretty nice classes but expensive. The issue is these classes take place in the free weight room (arguably the busiest weight room of the gym) during BUSY hours. That means all us mere muggles must push off and work out some place else (why am I paying for a gym membership when I can't access the equipment?!). 2. If you want morning classes, get up at 5am or forget about it. How hard is it to offer a 6:30 or 7am yoga class? They only offer Power 30 in the morning when people want classes, so basically you can only utilize the prime hours and area of the gym if you pay more money. 3. Be prepared to receive lesser treatment from the staff if you are not paying more money for either Power 30 or personal training. Be prepared to be kicked off equipment so they can use it for their purposes. It has happened to me several times! Today a trainer was working with a woman, watched me use the pully machine as part of my exercise circuit. Walked up and took my attachments off, changed the weight, and used the machine for 10+ minutes when I only had one circuit left to do. The girl she was training even felt bad and I heard her say "I really don't mind walking to the other weight room," to which the trainer replied "No, we're staying right here" as she took my attachments off. Just rude!! Couldn't even ask if I was done using the equipment. 4. The free two meetings with a "personal trainer" they offer you are garbage. They set everyone who comes in up with almost the exact same plan. The girl who set my plan up was so miserable, she obviously hated working there and didn't care if I came back to the gym ever again. She doesn't work there any more (so much for helping me keep on track). If you want any useful help you have to pay for a personal trainer. 5. If you walk in and someone asks if you know anyone who wants to join, just say NO or she will text your personal phone trying to pressure you into referring your friends. There is no benefit to throwing your friends under the bus. They don't give you a free power 30 or a free month or anything if one of your friends sign up from your reference. And trust me, you do NOT want your friends going here! The only thing that I don't hate about this gym are the instructors. Susan and Jodi are both fantastic instructors and I love their yoga classes. I will miss them when I leave.

Find tremendous benefits to their structured workouts that have made me stronger, leaner and more resilient. It's also an amazing way to deal with high level stress. All of the coaches current and former are all amazing... truly inspiring, dedicated and caring for everyone. They know when you are injured and give you modified exercises. They challenge you in a positive and respectful way. The owners Stephen and Sam truly care about your well being and the larger Rochester community with frequent donations, food drives and fundraising that goes beyond their gym. I've been a member of many many many many many gyms in my life but I say honestly and truthfully that this gym is my home.

My time at bee relentless boxing was good in terms of the actual program, but I can't shake the…read morefeeling of getting scammed. "Coach" Stephen comes off as decent person on the surface, but his true nature is more fraudulent than anything. I want to be clear this behavior isn't shared by the other coaches as well, but solely him. I was enticed to join the program through instagram, where they advertised a 6-week transformation program. When meeting in person, I was explicitly told that the program was worth over 1,000$ (which clearly isn't true), yet i was being offered the price of 600$ for the 6 weeks I would attend. The true pricing that they offer attendees is either 39-49$ a week, which means I was charged double than the highest rate they even offer regular people. If this could be done to me, this could also be done to other people and I hope my review prevents this from happening to other people. The worst part is that he sells it to you as if your interest is truly on his mind, when his entire objective is to sell you on a dream. The only difference between the 6 week program and the regular classes is that you meet biweekly with a coach and log meals onto an app they have you download in the beginning. There is no special treatment and they even limit the amount of classes you can do within the 6 weeks. The slimiest part about him is that he had the nerve to shake my hand and smile in my face like he didn't lie to me. He doesn't even teach any of the classes there, he's simply the owner of a business trying to capitalize on those looking to better their health. The overall environment of the classes is great, the other boxers are nice people and the legitimate coaches are actually trying to see you do better. I just wish that there was more transparency on the pricing because ultimately I was scammed. I want to be clear this review has nothing to do with the progress I made during the 6 weeks, but I want to be sure anybody attempting to attend these classes knows exactly what they are getting into so that they don't end up getting scammed the way I did. I hope "coach" Stephen gets everything he deserves moving forward.

And you'll thank them for it. I've been coming to this location, firmly posted across from Sticky Lip's BBQ's lot, for a few years on-and-off. If my school and work schedule wasn't so sporadic, I'd commit to a full membership instead of paying for one-off classes. There has not been a time I've worked out here and have not felt sore or completely winded. I love it! A lot of people I've asked to join me here have apprehensions because they think they will put on gloves and have to fight someone right away. THAT IS NOT THE CASE. There are several classes where it's simply workouts, conditioning, forms, and basic movements. Let me repeat this: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FIGHT ANYONE. I myself have not sparred, and have only done level 1 and 2 classes and it's just as much physically demanding as you would if you were in the ring. If you're feeling up for it, do it! The coaches here are very accommodating and will guide you through it. Speaking of which, every coach for their classes have their own style and method for having you work out in their classes but they universally all look out for their students' techniques and pushes them to power through. I really appreciate that. I give this place 4 stars because the facility can use some updating. Of course, a worn gym is a used gym, but for being around so long and having a following they could use some new equipment. Also, I frown charging for worn out wrap and glove rentals. I ended up buying my own stuff, but if people are paying to multi-use this equipment, it should be in better shape. Boxing is a sport that is now shadowed in the mainstream by MMA. However, it is still a sport of finesse, nimbleness and strategy. More people should give this place a shot at least once and challenge themselves to see what I mean :)
