It was the first time I had been to this rink since it had been rebranded. I was more than disappointed. I was appalled by the lack of security on the ice while we were skating. Some kids were bombing around at high speeds, skating in and around beginners like they were on an obstacle course. Some kids, probably 12 year olds, were using red skating helpers like toys, bashing into each other, or two boys giving a third boy a ride and skating at top speed. One dad was horsing around with his kids, adding to the mayhem. We had to keep looking out for reckless skaters and defending ourselves, stopping or turning quickly to avoid getting slammed into. The security guys stopped some boys once to keep them from using the skating helpers as bumper cars, but that's the only time i saw them do anything. The whole place was staffed with kids. I saw some little kids playing in an information booth, throwing papers around with no supervision. It's too bad parents don't keep an eye on their kids, but the facility should have more supervision and send the message that reckless behavior is not okay.

So on 9/19/2021 they were holding a special event for old fire trucks, I headed out there. They had an assortment of vehicles going back in time. The old trolley car which you can ride on, fire trucks, roadway machinery, an original Greyhound bus, and more. I was impressed. Good for the history buffs, and families. And I give special credit to the men and women who donate their time to make this happen.

But there is a lot to see here and admission comes with a really nice ride on the tram. They have a couple cars from the old Midtown monorail which brought back a lot of memories. Lots of cars and engines you can climb on, and a lot of the bells still work. Some other neat old antique vehicles as well. All the people that were working/volunteering were super nice as well. Overall great way to spend an afternoon.

Rides are every half hour and advance ticket purchases can be purchased online. We rode the open air car for about 10 mins then it reverses backwards towards the train displays. Plus, they offered complimentary animal crackers and juice for kids. Outside around the corner is another car you can enter where a nice gentleman with a wealth of knowledge explains the history of the signals and levers. It's small quarters so only one family is allowed in at a time. They also have a small area called the pumpkin patch where your ticket includes a pumpkin to take home for each kid. Overall, a nice first time experience for the kids to ride and get up close to trains.

Parking is limited, I had to park in a field, luckily the ground was frozen, but my long walk to the entrance was brutal. Also they charge to get in and watch the kids play, torn on that. I visited with my niece the last 3 years at other sports venues (Henrietta, Victor, and Gates) and no admission fee. It's only $5.00 to get in here, but that with far away parking in a field was no fun. Inside is ok, bathrooms ok, place seemed clean, concessions good. Had a nice visit with my niece while her daughter played Volleyball. Would go back, but prefer not too just due to admissions fee, and lack of parking, other than it's ok.
