Approximately 30 years after I attended my first minor league (AAA) baseball game, I FINALLY was…read moreable to watch an away game for the Syracuse AAA team (currently the Mets). This past August, I got a chance to watch the Mets take on the home-team Red Wings as part of a corporate event. The schedule gods were friendly so I could root for my hometown team as a visitor to this pretty ballpark. Innovative Field is nestled in downtown Rochester and has a cool backdrop of some of the city's buildings. I really liked that the park is part of their downtown's identity as Syracuse's is not. Parking was nearby and fairly easy to find. Their gift shop is expansive and had lots of fun items to take home including their alternate jerseys (the garbage plates) and some of the diversity night jerseys and hats. I browsed but didn't buy. Food is pretty standard fare though they have a cool pub style area to get a beer and it has tv's to watch the action while you're enjoying a drink. For some reason, the hot dog buns are like a italian sub roll and engulf the dog - too heavy for a bun and too bready. Not sure what local place they are supporting, but this was my only complaint about their food. As with any park, your mileage may vary with the sunshine/sunset depending on which side you sit on. We sat in an outfield area near the scoreboards and it was pretty brutal :) Overall, a great place to watch a ballgame. I've been to better, but this one is a gem for Rochester-area baseball fans.

Always love seeing a Red Wings Game here. The entry process is quick and easy. Plenty of food stands to choose from and accessible bathrooms can be found throughout the stadium. Parking is 7 dollars in the lot across from the stadium but you can find free street parking near by.

I had never heard of it before, but the size of the facility and the variety of offerings immediately stood out. They have soccer, basketball, volleyball, turf fields, and hard court spaces, so there's plenty for kids to do. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout the party, and most importantly, the kids had an absolute blast. I'll definitely be looking into classes here and would strongly consider TRI County again for a future kids' birthday party.

Parking is limited, I had to park in a field, luckily the ground was frozen, but my long walk to the entrance was brutal. Also they charge to get in and watch the kids play, torn on that. I visited with my niece the last 3 years at other sports venues (Henrietta, Victor, and Gates) and no admission fee. It's only $5.00 to get in here, but that with far away parking in a field was no fun. Inside is ok, bathrooms ok, place seemed clean, concessions good. Had a nice visit with my niece while her daughter played Volleyball. Would go back, but prefer not too just due to admissions fee, and lack of parking, other than it's ok.

It's the only restaurant at this sports complex that operates separately from the concessions stands at the complex itself. This sports centre is Canada's largest municipally owned and operated recreation facility. It's huge, as it houses six arenas. Many hockey teams are here to practise and play, including the Whitby Wildcats. It also has two indoor pools. BarDown Gastropub is great if you want to grab a bite to eat before or after a game. Our group wasn't here for sports, so it works for lunch and dinner. The food is excellent. It also houses the largest screen in Whitby to see the latest sports games. Since the City of Whitby owns this property, it has a contract with Pepsi. You get Pepsi products at concession stands, vending machines, and BarDown Gastropub. There are banquet and meeting rooms that you can rent. It also has a pro shop to get your skates sharpened and athletic training facilities. When it's warmer outside, this place has six tennis courts, five baseball diamonds, and a soccer field open. It's huge here. There is lots of parking. It's free. I was here with friends on a Sunday afternoon. This sports complex is open every day from 8:30 am till roughly 8:30 pm. If you have a water bottle, you can fill it up at the water bottle fill-up station. It was nice checking this place out briefly. It's cool and a valuable asset to Whitby and beyond. (79)
