Approximately 30 years after I attended my first minor league (AAA) baseball game, I FINALLY was able to watch an away game for the Syracuse AAA team (currently the Mets). This past August, I got a chance to watch the Mets take on the home-team Red Wings as part of a corporate event. The schedule gods were friendly so I could root for my hometown team as a visitor to this pretty ballpark. Innovative Field is nestled in downtown Rochester and has a cool backdrop of some of the city's buildings. I really liked that the park is part of their downtown's identity as Syracuse's is not. Parking was nearby and fairly easy to find. Their gift shop is expansive and had lots of fun items to take home including their alternate jerseys (the garbage plates) and some of the diversity night jerseys and hats. I browsed but didn't buy. Food is pretty standard fare though they have a cool pub style area to get a beer and it has tv's to watch the action while you're enjoying a drink. For some reason, the hot dog buns are like a italian sub roll and engulf the dog - too heavy for a bun and too bready. Not sure what local place they are supporting, but this was my only complaint about their food. As with any park, your mileage may vary with the sunshine/sunset depending on which side you sit on. We sat in an outfield area near the scoreboards and it was pretty brutal :) Overall, a great place to watch a ballgame. I've been to better, but this one is a gem for Rochester-area baseball fans. read more

Always love seeing a Red Wings Game here. The entry process is quick and easy. The stadium does have a policy on specific bags you can bring into the stadium and this information can be found online. I brought a clear bag to carry our belongings with no issue. Plenty of food stands to choose from and accessible bathrooms can be found throughout the stadium. We visited Innovation Field on Friday night for a baseball game. Was really looking forward to the visit since we had a suite. I haven't been there since shortly after they opened in 1998. Lol and I still call it Red Wing Stadium. The suite was very bright and spacious with seating for about 12. It opens to the outdoor covered area that also seats 12. We had 15 people in our group. A food package comes with the suite but my sister ordered extra items so I'm not sure exactly what the standard package includes. The food was decent. There was a bar right outside our suite. Alcohol was not included in our package. There is a private entrance from outside to get to the suites with an elevator right once you enter. We weren't aware of this but good to know if we come again. The main concession area downstairs was very spacious. High ceilings made it seem even more expansive. Much bigger and more variety than the area at the stadium for the Buffalo Bisons, Sahlen's Field. There are a couple of parking lots. Parking fee was a very reasonable $6. Plus when we pulled in they gave us a slip for free parking next visit since there was a possibility of a rain delay. Didnt expect that@ All employees we dealt with wete friendly and when needed helpful. Oh, did I mention, the game WAS postponed because of nonstop rain! That's ok. What a perfect summer evening at the ballpark. Although the Red Wings lost, it was great to get out of the house and watch some ball. One star less as I was rushing home from work to grab my son to attend. If you know downtown Rochester- there was no where to get cash. The parking all around the stadium was cash only. I forgot to get cash during the day. We drove around some shady areas looking for free parking or a garage. We found parking and got to the game. Prices are expensive for food and beverage- but so is everywhere else for an evening out at a stadium. It was a nice evening at the park. read more

I have been fortunate enough to be here in a suite twice now, and as a person that doesn't like baseball, it is the way to go! It was a 90 degree day, and I got to sit in the A/C and enjoy all the food and drinks without ever having to go out in the heat! There's a separate Suite entrance, a separate bar that didn't have a single person at it when I went, and an ice cream cart comes around at some point during the day. There was also pizza, burgers and hot dogs in our Suite. There's even a tv inside that shows the game, so you don't even have to look out the window if you don't want to. Frontier Field is one of the few options for taking in sportsball in Rochester! I can't say I spend a ton of time at baseball...diamonds? but I love this stadium. It is easy to navigate, there's ample close by parking, AND there's a pretty big variety of food choices considering the small size. I was there for Redwings pride night and enjoyed a mule from the one booth that sells cocktails (lines for this booth are usually pretty long) and some tasty/crappy/perfectly baseball-y chicken fingers and fries. There is a LACK of condiments at this baseball stadium. Ketchup & mustard only which is simply not sufficient for chicken finger enjoyment but ANYWAYS the stadium is still great. Plan to spend too overpay for food but underpay for the experience! Tickets to Redwings games a suuuuper reasonable and a great way to spend a beautiful evening. I always kick myself for not doing a better job supporting the limited sports options we have here in ROC, and look forward to doing better in the future! read more

Frontier Field is always a fun time! Never too crowded and always enjoyable. Tickets are very reasonably priced, and they often have good deals, such as $2 happy hour and bring your dog days. I would recommend sitting somewhere along the first baseline since you're on the shady side of the stadium, the tickets are cheaper, and you'll get more chance to catch fly balls! Afterwards walk over to Brown's race to see great views of the high falls and some old charming buildings! read more

Without a doubt one of my new favorite locations to catch a game. I went to school in Rochester, but really missed out on spending too much time at the stadium. I haven't realized until recently what a gem this place really is. The stadium is designed nicely, including a variety of concessions on either base line/side of the stadium (in typical Rochester fashion, you can find things like a Chicken French Sandwich option). The various bar/brew options are also fantastic - and they have a collectible mason jar for sale at the main bar (as well as another location or two). Since I collect those mason jars when I see them, that was especially enjoyable. Parking is also pretty easy and accessible, and the staff are very organized and welcoming. The team store has a nice variety of souvenirs available for purchase, and also has the stamp accessible for the MLB Ballpark Pass-Port (for anyone who also stamps for games they attend). Upon leaving the team store and heading back towards my seating section, I also noticed Jose Berrios at a table and signing for people. Awesome, especially considering he had pitched a great game the night before. Ticket costs are super reasonable. I bought tickets online for a couple games - including the upcoming July 4th game (fireworks!) - and visited Will Call during a recent visit to see a game. When the guy tending the window realized I had purchased tickets for a number of different game days, he offered to print them all for me on the spot (which is awesome, since I prefer printed tickets). TL;DR Great staff. Great ballpark. I'm just sad that I didn't take more opportunity to go to games there until now. Will most definitely be returning again and again. A new favorite. read more

I went to my first Redwing's game yesterday at Frontier Field and I enjoyed it. Like others have mentioned, Frontier Field is a smaller stadium with an intimate feel. I don't think there is a bad seat in the entire stadium. Work paid for my tickets, but for $11, I got to sit at field level right by first base. Parking across the street was easy. I don't think it's too difficult to find free street parking during the weekends, but $6 at the parking lot isn't too bad either. Food was pretty average. I did not pay close attention to their other dining options, since our group had catered food separate from the food stands. It looked like typical ball park food: Zweigle's Hotdogs, burgers , cheesesteaks, ice cream etc. I think they also have a Gluten/Dairy/Nut-free stand, so that's kind of nice too. Large Rohrbach beers are $7.00. Small domestic beers are $5.50 I believe. Not bad for stadium beer. Frontier Field is a good place to take family and friends, especially during the summertime. It's affordable and kid-friendly. Good seats all-around with a picturesque view of the Kodak Building between Third Base and Home Plate. I'm not sure if I enjoy baseball enough to come back on my own accord, but it's a great way to spend a summer day drinking beers and taking in the nice weather. read more

MY HUSBAND AND I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH POSITIVES ABOUT FRONTIER FIELD!!!!! :-) We love going to games so much that.... We got MARRIED at home plate on June 15, 2013!!! By far the most amazing day of our lives! Our reception was held at the stadium too in the Hard Ball Cafe (the large open-air deck on the suite level on the 1st base side.) This area was PERFECT for viewing the game... We purposely planned our wedding on a game day so we could enjoy the amazing atmosphere and be able to throw out the first pitches! A special surprise from Frontier Field was that they dedicated the fireworks show to US and played all love songs!!! Perfect ending to a perfect day!! The Food. Was. Amazing!! We went with "Southern Sweet Spot" complete with ribs, pulled pork, fried chicken, (of course) ZWEIGLES HOT DOGS, corn on the cobb, salt potatoes, corn bread and coleslaw. All the staff at Frontier Field went above and beyond to make our day special, from servers to ushers to the owner of the team who stopped by to thank us for having our wedding there. Nice little baseball stadium where the Triple A farm team Rochester Red Wings of the Boston Red Sox plays their home games. Attended a game here one sunny Thursday afternoon 8/4/16. Got the family 4 pack which consists of 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, and 4 drinks for 40 bucks. From what I was told it used to be lower than that. Still a good deal I guess. The stadium seats about 13,000. The attendance this day was around 5,000. Good views just about any where you sit. We sat on the shaded area towards the nose bleeds on the third base side. I don't know how any of those people can sit there for hours in the direct sun unless an overdose of vitamin D was their plan. The field itself is very well kept. The folding stadium seats are ok. There are cup holders for your drinks. Judging from the sound of the organ I assume it's an antique and the guy that plays it is pretty good. The bathrooms don't stink too bad which is a good thing. Overall it's a nice place to take your fam or hang out with friends to watch a game. Just don't use the wifi for I think they use dial up. We've been to over 9 games this season. We always have a great time! It is a great family atmosphere. I love the Wendy's $1 off on the backside of the ticket and that Buckmans Carwash gives $2.99 car washes the day after a game, and "Taco Man" - a designated hitter on the opposing team strikes out- you get a free taco at Taco Bell with your ticket within 48 hours! Every seat is a good seat. We've sat in many sections. Tonights game is the last home game at the Stadium and we will be in Section 111. All of Row E. The food? Is fabulous. Zweigles hot dogs of course! Salvatore's pizza and calzones are fantastic. Mac 'n Cheese is awesome. A couple times a season, one of the vendors (I think Angus) has Jambalaya which is a Must have! Fantastic! (They usually have it on a Monday night game, I've been told. I haven't figured out how to get a players signature yet..... That is not so easy :( I'm bringing my Red Wings cards tonight...... Hoping again to get someone's attention to sign their baseball card! Tickets are reasonably priced and if you live in Rochester, you're guaranteed an offer for a group rate by your employer or school. Over the past few years the team has been hot and cold. Regardless, I find it disheartening that the stadium isn't consistently sold out for every game. They always provide great entertainment in a city that's struggling. More folks should really support the team. The one drawback is the price of food and drinks. They're really expensive. On the plus side, there's a variety of types to choose from. I have a friend who has been to every major league ball park in the nation. Though it's not MLB, Frontier Field is #6 on his list of favorite ballparks anywhere. The best thing about Frontier Field is the live organ music. It's simply the way baseball was meant to be heard. Every seat has a great view, and if you don't like your seat, you can always join the ball-scrambling little ones on the grassy knoll, stand along the home-run fence in the outfield, or grab a table just past right field (or is it left field? I can never remember if it's from the catcher's or a fielder's perspective...). The food is spec-tac-u-lar and includes many Rochester favorites. I recommend hanging a slight right when you enter the stadium and grabbing a Rohrbach's Blueberry Ale. For dinner, try the buffalo mac n cheese from Say Cheese or the roast beef sandwich from Red Osier. There's often fireworks after the game, which are a treat as long as you're not expecting 4th of July madness. And they let the kids run the bases when it's all over. Did I mention they play baseball here? That's pretty cool, too. read more

Cheering on the Redwings is one of my favorite things to do with friends and family. Seriously, some of my favorite memories involved warm summer nights at Frontier Field. I long for baseball games, incredible views, and fun with friends/family all winter long! Tickets are so affordable that most times we skip buying tickets online and opt to buy them at the ticket booth. Plus, they print out a ticket for you, and they're fun to have as a keepsake for you scrapbook-ers out there! The staff is very friendly - they always have a big smile on their faces (yes, even when they search your purse, ladies!) and give you a big welcome to Frontier Field. Concessions and beer options are a-plenty at Frontier Field. A favorite of mine is to get a $5 trash can (a clear plastic cup filled with that good good of home fries, mac salad, topped with meat hot sauce and diced onions) with a Genny Light. I will say - you spend a pretty penny ordering a Genny Light at the ballpark. But when you're at a baseball game, feeling like a first-class rockstar because you're looking at (arguably) the best view of downtown Rochester, it makes it well worth it. Especially, when parking is easy and affordable, and admission doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. Plus, the fireworks show is one you can't miss! read more

Of course there are baseball themed accommodations but who would have thought there's one with disco balls? Definitely a deal if you are in the mood for some sports. Saw Indianapolis play the Scranton Yankees last week and got my fill for a decent price. Saw some of our Pittsburgh Pirate Players, and got some stadium food. Of course, food it always over priced, but the Red Osier booth is not too bad. I only with the Hebrew National cart was open. I could really have gone for a hotdog with sauerkraut. Oh well. The park was practically empty both nights we went - not sure if its because the Scranton team doesn't have many fans here... but I've been to Red Wings games that have been pretty packed. On the other hand, the empty stadium made for a pleasant evening free of annoying people. So I can't complain too much - just beware of the creepy old dudes that like to chat up the young women while the game is going on. I only come here for Dippin' Dots. Fully admitting it right off the bat. Regardless, I love a good sports outing every once in a while and the Red Wings games are one of my favorites. I rarely watch sports in my free time, but I can always get into it when it's a live game and the action is right there. The last few times I hit up a baseball game they still had the firework shows, which is actually a pretty cool scene at the end of the night. I will continue to come here as long as my friends and family keep giving me free tickets to games. Ok, maybe I'll pay for a ticket... It's worth it. I also think it's pretty cool that they book the field for events and concerts when appropriate. Also, a ton of food options. Most recently, I was able to see the game from a suite. It was cool to be in there but I would have preferred the food that wasn't offered in the suite. Also, it is kind of hard to figure out where to go. You can enter into the suite area from the outside which I didn't know but if you are in the stadium already, there is a random door with a man in front of it to let people into the suite area. Food is exactly what you'd expect: pretzels, chicken fingers, hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream (Dippin' Dots!) etc. Most booths only take cash. Conehead man walks around and wheels n' deals treats too. The cheap tickets ($7) are seriously. CHEAP. Plus, "cheap" seating has awesome views so why bother spending more? Had a nice pulled pork sandwich and a few beers. The pricing is typical for a stadium and on the more expensive side but there are no other options. We all had a good time! read more

We went and enjoyed our time, a decent chicken Caesar wrap, a hot dog, and a good selection of craft beers. the $2 genny light happy hour on Thursdays is well worth it and the line was relatively short. Otherwise the beers are an overage of $8-9 which is to be expected. Parking for the game was $6 and easy to manage. My mother has season tickets to the Red Wings games. We brought my two boys there and they love it. It's easy to park and get into the seats. We went to a Sunday game and afterwards, they let the families and kids come out into the field to "play ball" with one another for about 20 minutes. Then, they let the kids (and parents) run the bases. "Spikes" the mascot was high-fiving the kids as they ran the bases. The one Sunday we went, after the kids got to home base, they were given a coupon to a Wegman's restaurant for a free Sunday. A nice little token "gift." Very family-oriented place! read more
