I was in town (Golden) doing some grocery shopping, while on vacation, for the family. Before heading back to the cabin, I spied a very familiar sight. I texted my wife and asked (permission) if our girls might want something from their favorite eatery. The answer was, of course, yes. And since I had just seen their latest commercial advertising a Chicken Big Mac, I couldn't resist picking one up for her. The shop is just like any other McDonalds you have ever entered = reasonably clean, very fast service, McCafe options. I was also pleasantly surprised that the staff were INCREDIBLY friendly. The prices are on par with home (Honolulu), so I wasn't broke upon leaving. The food was as good as it was familiar. The Mrs said the Chicken Big Mac was so good that she was surprised that they hadn't added it to the menu earlier. All in all, this was above average for a McDonald's joint, but it's still fast food. Oh and you can get poutine here - if you're looking for regional/unique foods.

There were staff cleaning up the tables and emptying garbage cans. The restaurant was well maintained for a busy location. Fries were pipping hot and crispy. My burger was alright. The surroundings look clean, and the food looks fresh. The apple fritter was delicious. Good apple flavor, not super greasy. Despite waiting in my backpack for a couple of hours, my tuna sandwich still tasted fresh. Bread not dried out. Salted caramel cookie was good, though not crispy (which happens to be my preference). Highly recommend Golden Bakery & Deli.

Total cost 25???? Wtf?? Grill cheese was underwhelming for $15....can get the same thing at Starbucks for $6 minus the apple juice that came with it.......but the $10 egg salad sandwich was totally unacceptable....more like a "mayo sandwich" and a small few egg pieces. Total "hot-garbage". Road Trippers and Lunch lovers beware...

We also tried the oat bowl and avocado toast--both tasted great, but the portions were quite small for the high price. It was like they were pre-made and sat for a long time under the heat lamps. The blizzard was good, but not fully mixed. I asked for water and she placed a blizzard cup down. I thought it was the one they were going to use for the blizzard. I walked away expecting they would serve all the order together. My mistake but it would have helped if she called me back and said "this is for your water". I am not a fast food ordering expert. If we pass through Golden again, I will try another option.

Ambiance: This place has a nice wood cabin feel with friendly staff who liked to make small talk…read more The main detractor was that the first table they brought us to by the window had a literal dozen flies but they moved us to the opposite side of the restaurant and we had no further issues. The place was pretty empty during brunch time and food took a moderate amount of time to come out but was hot and fresh. Food: My wife had the island bowl which had two poached eggs, veges, avocado and a hollandaise sauce which was lighter but clean and flavorful. I had the Reuben sandwich which was quite good. The corned beef was sliced thin and tender. The 1:1 ratio of meat to kraut was good and the bread had a nice crispy toast to it. The star of the table, however, were the hand cut fries. They were very crispy, not too oily, and perfectly seasoned. Overall, this was pretty solid. Even at our cabin in Golden we have a ton of bug pressure so I kind of cut this place some slack, the restaurant itself was otherwise clean but I understand this might bother other people too much. If you're looking to switch up your brunch rotation I would at least consider this place.

I completely understand that nothing is cheap in British Columbia or especially in Golden but it was still a bit of a letdown. We had a romantic getaway to Golden and I found this restaurant online.
