We walked in and I was immediately impressed by how vast and spotless the place was. This is one enormous place. There's a ton of seating in the main area, and if that's not enough, there's a whole other seating area around the corner. Everything looked really tasty but we decided to try a couple of savory pastries, both of which were delicious and fresh. For my drink, I went with the Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew ("Cold brew coffee with vanilla and topped with sweet cream"), which certainly quenched my thirst and need for a pick-me-up. I want to single out the staff, too. Everybody was super friendly and helpful, and the manager even stopped by our table and offered our daughter a complimentary bear-shaped madeleine. Paris Baguette is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. We'll definitely be returning.

They have deli sandwiches in their fridge and the Harvest Chicken sandwich was delicious. The Mochi donuts are a good atyempt and mimicing their asian counterparts but was way too greasy. The traditional sugared twist was better. They also have full barista services and lots of seating. Great place to pick up something for a dinner party as they have lovely boxes and present well. Staff was very friendly. Prices are steeper than other local bakeries so keep this in mind.

My nationality is Polish, and I know how Polish cakes and Paczki should taste. This donut went straight into the garbage because the taste was horrible, almost like clay (glina). It's important to use the proper recipe from Polish natives who live in Toronto. The best Paczki come from homemade recipes of small shops run by Polish individuals who were born in Poland or come from Polish families and know the authentic recipes. The term "Paczki" should not be used unless the donuts are genuinely made according to tradition, and will taste like Paczki, not glina . My email: barb.bonnar@gmail.com, you can write in Polish, as I speak both English and Polish . regards Barbara

I'm honestly shocked I've never been to SanRemo before! There are so many things I already want to…read morego back and try--from the desserts, donuts, bakery items, and hot food to the drinks and, of course, the gelato. On this visit, I had the steak sandwich, mortadella sandwich, cold brew, and Nutella latte, and everything was delicious. The vanilla cupcake was especially good--super moist and not overly sweet. Parking is pretty limited, but if you arrive early enough, you can usually find street parking in the surrounding neighbourhood. Despite how busy it was, the service was incredibly quick. There seemed to be plenty of staff working together to keep orders moving efficiently. One bonus that I absolutely loved is that they carry Nutella and Orzo imported from Italy. It's nice knowing I don't have to fly to Italy every time I want to pick some up! Can't wait to come back and work my way through the rest of the menu.

However, I just feel that there wasn't anything outstanding flavour wise from the baked goods. I also got a tiramisu and it wasn't my favorite. I went to the sandwich counter. It just seemed like the lady who took our order just didn't wanna be there. Seeing as I t was my first time getting a sandwich, she handed me a slip and didn't really tell me where I needed to go with it. I ended up standing there and waiting until I realized other patrons were paying, and then coming back with their slip. Overall, with all the sandwiches out there it isn't even on my top five. I don't know if I would travel this deep. Maybe there's something I'm missing if so, please suggestions.

Now you taste some kind of oil instead of all butter. It has a barnyard under flavour. The spinach quiche is completely tasteless except for the crust that has that same disgusting taste. Same for the apple pie. The Orange Chiffon cake and Flans are still good. I guess with Hunt's and Women's Bakeries long gone, they don't have the same competition. However Metro makes a really good deep dish apple pie and Dimpflemeir's is great place to get custard tarts, cheesecakes, Napoleons and lots of fancy desserts that are made with quality fresh ingredients.

When I moved back to Toronto a few years ago, i noticed you were different. not only did you multiply and now exist in the Kingsway and Bloor West Village, but you are also a lot cheaper and of less quality!!!! So here I am in the Hot Oven bakery today. I've noticed that the ingredients used in their traditional winners have made the products taste different. Somebody tipped me off that they changed ownership a few years ago, which is probably when they changed ingredients...you can tell that the stuff they use now is a lot cheaper. For instance, the meat pies have a darker crust (lard in the crust, perhaps???) and the meat is fattier. Those meat pies were to-die-for in the olden days. The classic orange chiffon cake is also darker in colour. Not sure what they are using, but it has also changed a bit in taste...... No longer do they give out free cookies to the kiddies like I remember. And, today, they had the nerve to CHARGE ME to write "MELODY" on a cake. 5 cents per letter. WHA??????????????????? I told the lady at the cashier that i have been coming there for 30 years and they have never charged to write birthday messages on the cake. She told me "it is a labour charge". WHA????? 30 cents??? Craziness....a great way to tick off your longstanding customers and for what???? A mere few cents? i don't get it. Oh Old Hot Oven of days past...I miss you!!!!!!
