The Long Version: My husband and I met my husband's sister and her husband here to hang out before we went to see a show at the Studio Theatre. I got a cinnamon bun ($3.50) and a herbal tea ($3.50), and my husband got a black coffee ($2.75). The cinnamon bun was unremarkable in my opinion. It was just ok, maybe even a bit dry, and also on the thin side. Not thick and fluffy. My tea was just a tea bag from Four O'clock Teas (I got Turmeric Cinnamon, which at least is a more unusual flavour that I haven't seen in stores). The temperature was nice and hot, but it was just bagged tea from a brand sold in health food stores. The inside of the cafe is nice. We sat in the front room near the service counter, but there are back rooms that are a bit more quiet. I would say the ambiance is the nicest thing. Service was pleasant. Maybe some of their other baked goods have more oomph and maybe their crafted drinks are special. My experience was just ok, but it might have been what I ordered. Street parking or paid parking lot parking only, but the lots are free on weekends and you can park on the street for 2 hours for free. Review #39 (2025)

It's really hard to choose one, so sometimes you just have to get more than one. There's indoor seating, patio seating and seating by the water! Restaurant was Out of bourbon..guess it was a long walk to the LcBO to replace it on a Saturday. The rack of lamb had more rack and no meat!! Food was cold, potatoes dry, poor quality of food overall. The cappuccino came from a nespresso machine. Restaurant needs some updates and a refresh if they want to continue charging what they choose to charge. Good Luck to them

The four of us arrived a few minutes before our 12:30 reservation. We were instructed to make our way to a table upstairs. One elderly member of our group is unable to climb stairs. We politely declined and were told we would have to wait for a table on the main floor to open up. The stools we were offered to sit at were so tall I had to practically lift my mother up. Then we started to feel how uncomfortably cold it was. A table cleared up about a half hour later but the girl at the desk quickly sat a party who had just arrived. They had reserved that specific table we were told and we had to wait longer. So we were made to wait another hour. Meanwhile, staff appeared panicked and in over their heads. We waited two hours from the time we got there for our meal. By this time the restaurant had cleared. We were served cold waffles and pancakes to be washed down with undrinkable coffee. At no point did anyone come to check on how we were enjoying our food. What a disappointment. No dessert on the menu. Awful food. We would have left to go somewhere else but where could we go that wasn't already booked up? We paid the $130 and left. I've had nice meals there in the past but I see no reasons to support that place again. This was too embarrassing and maddening for a repeat experience.

TL;DR/The Short Version: Cool health food store in Perth,…read moreON. Lots of local, organic, and ethically sourced products. The Long Version: I love health food stores, so I had to check out Foodsmiths when we were in Perth. It's similar to Dandelion Foods in Almonte, and Natural Food Pantry or Kardish in Ottawa. Foodsmiths does seem to have more local items though and they have a formidable bakery section that the other stores I mentioned lack. They had tarts from Mrs. Garrett's Bake Shop (in Inverary, Ontario). As an aside, when I hear Mrs. Garrett, I will forever think of Charlotte Rae's character in "The Facts of Life." Lol. This clearly exposes me of being of a certain vintage ;) The regular prices of items that are easily found at other stores (e.g. Carbonaut, Made Good, Organic Meadow, etc.) are a tad higher than at the stores in Ottawa, but they have clearance sections and discounted items throughout the store. We were there at the end of January (2025) and I noticed a small Lunar New Year display with red lanterns, red parasols and a blue dragon. I was surprised to see that they sell sandals (!) They're all Birkenstock style sandals though, lol, the brands I saw were Finn Comfort, Haflinger, and Mephisto. I enjoyed poking around the store. Lots of free parking in their private parking lot. I doubt that most other towns the size of Perth have such a store. This is one of my fields of expertise as an urban geographer, so I am planning to pursue this hypothesis further...
