Server needs some etiquette training, we ordered a bottle of wine upon arrival and had to wait and extended period to receive it, the male parties at our table were served their drinks as the women waited on a bottle of red. Restaurant was Out of bourbon..guess it was a long walk to the LcBO to replace it on a Saturday. The rack of lamb had more rack and no meat!! Food was cold, potatoes dry, poor quality of food overall. The cappuccino came from a nespresso machine. Restaurant needs some updates and a refresh if they want to continue charging what they choose to charge. Good Luck to them read more

Imagine being excited about bringing your mom to a nice restaurant for Mother's Day and turning out to be an absolute disaster. The four of us arrived a few minutes before our 12:30 reservation. We were instructed to make our way to a table upstairs. One elderly member of our group is unable to climb stairs. We politely declined and were told we would have to wait for a table on the main floor to open up. The stools we were offered to sit at were so tall I had to practically lift my mother up. Then we started to feel how uncomfortably cold it was. A table cleared up about a half hour later but the girl at the desk quickly sat a party who had just arrived. They had reserved that specific table we were told and we had to wait longer. So we were made to wait another hour. Meanwhile, staff appeared panicked and in over their heads. We waited two hours from the time we got there for our meal. By this time the restaurant had cleared. We were served cold waffles and pancakes to be washed down with undrinkable coffee. At no point did anyone come to check on how we were enjoying our food. What a disappointment. No dessert on the menu. Awful food. We would have left to go somewhere else but where could we go that wasn't already booked up? We paid the $130 and left. I've had nice meals there in the past but I see no reasons to support that place again. This was too embarrassing and maddening for a repeat experience. read more

In spite of the historic ambiance and quiet patio, this was our worst lunch experience in memory, bar none. The server brought my husband the wrong drink, but that was forgivable. A three-quarter hour wait before seeing our food was less forgivable, but hey, the restaurant was bursting at the seams due to a large crowd. However, when my husband's pork schnitzel on a bun arrived, it wasn't merely under-cooked, it was RAW. Bloody. That was unforgivable. When we complained to the server, she barely reacted. We pointed out we didn't want to pay for it. She disappeared for 10 minutes, came back and said she'd talked to the owner, and the offending meal had been removed from the bill, no apology whatsoever. If the owner had one single, tiny brain neuron, he/she would have made an appearance, apologized profusely, and comped the entire meal. As it is, we will never eat at the Stone Kitchen again. read more

We have dined at The Stone Cellar many times in the past and have always enjoyed ourselves. However, recently we celebrated our 15th anniversary here and both the service and food were terrible! We started with a cocktail and an appetizer and ordered our entrees. After we were done our appetizers, we waited 45 minutes for our entrees to arrive and when they did, they were not what we had ordered and were so cold that they were inedible! Our server never returned to check on things. When she finally came to clear the table, she was so unaware that our plates were untouched. We immediately paid the very expensive cheque and left. We later reached out to the owner Peter Blier; he was very apologetic, saying there were far too many things that had gone wrong and would look into it and get back to us. It's been 3 weeks and he's never contacted us. Obviously he doesn't value our business! read more

Last summer, as per the usual, the majority of my family went to my grandparents' cottage in the 1,000 Islands for a few weeks. This was the first year Dave had gone up, and, despite his sever allergies, we had a lot of fun. We also discovered the masterpiece that is the Stone Cellar restaurant. Really, my mother, aunt and grandmother had discovered it the year before, but this was the first time our whole family went together. Located in Perth, Ontario, it looks exactly as the name suggests - a converted wine cellar. It is fairly small and has been full but quiet both times I have been there. It would be an ideal place for a wedding rehearsal dinner or other small, businesslike functions. This year it was a must that we go back before Dave and I left, so we went on Thursday evening. The food was just as stunning as ever, the only blemish being a change in the menu (discussed below). For an appetizer, Dave and I shared the baked brie with apple butter. It was very simple - an entire 6" round of brie slices lengthwise and cut in six wedges, baked until the edges were toasted and melted, topped with a sweet apple butter and accompanied with toasted slices of baguette. It was heavenly. Dave normally doesn't like cheese on its own but he made an exception for this - the entire plate was clean in about ten minutes, with minimal help from our neighbors at the table. My grandmother ordered the bruschetta which I tried - very good, but nothing truly spectacular. Now, the entree that most of us ordered (and which was one of the main reasons we drove an hour to this restaurant) was the Torpedo Chicken. It is truly one of the most amazing things I've ever eaten. It consists of a chicken breast pounded flat, stuffed with apple, dried cranberries and pine nuts, wrapped in prosciutto and doused in a white wine and mustard sauce. Sooo good. Unfortunately, this was also the aforementioned menu change. Still called the Torpedo Chicken, what we received was chicken stuffed with mozarella cheese and basil pesto. Good, yes, but not terribly memorable. The reason for the change may have been a purely seasonal one, as our last visit had been much later in the summer, but it was still a disappointment. My cousin was one of the nonconformists and got the 6 oz AAA fillet, and was smart for doing so. The beef practically melts in the mouth and was utterly delicious, and this coming from someone who doesn't normally eat red meat. Dessert was a communal affair - the lemon cake is dense, sweet and fiercely lemony with a very tart icing, and the Bailey's creme brulee was fantastic. Flamed to perfection, the top was crisp and the creme not too rich, and the Bailey's left a nice aftertaste but was not overpowering. All in all, a very good meal, and we sat there for about three hours talking and were left in relative peace, so it is a definite recommendation. My only complaint is the menu change, which will hopefully change back again. read more

This review is not exactly for the Stone Cellar but for Chef Jamie and his staff. Recently had my wedding at the Best Western (Perth) where Jamie provides the catering services. We had requested some very specific dishes not on the regular menu. These included Bison, Tourtière, Poutine and even Grits. Jamie happily accommodated us and the results were excellent Food was well prepared, served by friendly servers who were able to describe each appetizer and course. Jamie's advice on quantity was spot on allowing all our guests to leave happy. The pricing was reasonable and the event could not have been better. Guests loved the eclectic fare and it's quality. So if you're getting married in Perth I highly recommend the BW Spa property and Jamie. Not unexpectedly our visits to the Stone Cellar have mimicked our wedding experience. Thank you! read more

We were invited here by a local friend, and upon checking Yelp, I was excited to see what everyone is so excited by! We had a nice low-key lunch, and although I didn't opt for it, the big hit seems to be the schnitzel sandwich. It looks (and apparently tastes) amazing! I had crab cakes with sweet potato fries and salad. The real winner on my plate were the fries - they drizzle sometihng delicious over them, and although I can't place it, it was perfect. I'll opt for something else next time, but all in all, a great spot in downtown Perth. read more

I had dinner there recently on a Monday ... The Stone Cellar is in Historic Perth and is an original heritage stone building. With the amazing exposed stone the first floor is a wonderful place to have an intimate or friendly dinner by the fire place... The wine cellar is behind glass walls easily seen from the dining area and the ambiance deserves A+ . I was greeted by the owner who was fabulous, personable and very client oriented ... although he was understaffed for waiting on tables AND busier than he expected he made everyone feel welcome and attended. The daily fish special (fresh caught Salmon that day) I had entrée was very very good, the chutney a delightful accompaniment....the royal black rice, intriguing without being presumptous and the roasted vegetables nicely done and savoury. My only suggestion for improvement would be on the bacon wrapped scallops... While they were perfectly cooked the spicy honey chipolte was too overpowering for the flavours of the scallop or bacon to come through. While I didn't have wine (I had a mixed drink)... the selection is extensive and impressive.... and for dessert I had freshly brewed coffee and an after dinner apperatif. Overall a wonderful experience. read more

After choosing this online, we were not disappointed. We had an absolutely delicious meal of bacon wrapped scallops followed by the torpedo chicken (back to the original recipe by the looks of it!) for me and a Moroccan spiced haddoc for my partner. The wait staff was lovely. Will go again if we're travelling through again. The food is worth it. read more

Three of us ate that the Stone Cellar recently and it was good. The interior is better than the food but, that said, it is probably the best restaurant in Perth, a retiree town where budgets are carefully watched and food can not be adventuresome. The service was fine and we will definitely eat there again when in Perth. read more

so where to begin. ok a bunch of us firefighters from ny were in town for an event. i usually like to take a lead and split up our dining experiences to at least a great steak night, sushi night and italian night. may 26 i wandered in there during the day to check out the digs. we wanted to eat there on firday the 27th so i wanted to check out the menu. the hostess stated that they had oysters on the special so that was cool. the place is decorated to the nines i have to say that. so on the 27th we went there to eat 7pm, just 2 more guys that we knew were in there eating. we are a group of 6 lets start off with drinks and we will jump into the bads... remember we are a party of 6 1 drink order missed the cranberry in the mix another was the tonic me... captain morgan and ginger, glass comes over clear????hmmmm i ordered a capt and ginger (reply) oh we dont have capt morgan so we gave you bacardi rum. yeah not the same. so the waiter took it back and brought back another rum drink that looked the same, i wanted spiced rum....ok enough, take that back. i'll have the ale that you said. kid came back nervous as hell and said they are out of that. lol poor kid i just shook my head. so here comes the really bad news, he drops the bomb that there is only (1) steak left in the house( 7pm on a friday with no patrons really in there or the streets). you got to kidding me right. i was at meltdown level at this point, tab us out and we are out of here. who does the ordering there???? and i asked for the manager to come over but before he did i walked out cause i really didnt want to harm the name of the group i was with. so here i sit and still laugh and wonder how they survive. the manager did pick up the bar tab (that was cool and you learn that as part of being a manager). i just hope it was a bad day for the cellar and the bartender. as for the waiter who was new....you will do fine kid. i can say we went to bistro 54 around the corner....that place was off the hook and would eat there again and again. read more
