My wife and I are by no means tax experts, which is why we went to Steve Alpinieri to make sure that our taxes were filed correctly, as my wife had just begun her small business. Despite giving Alpinieri all of our documentation months before the tax deadline, he and his team did not complete them until the Friday three days before they were due. Thankfully we looked over our taxes instead of blindly trusting our CPA, as we immediately found that the taxes were done incorrectly with us owing thousands of dollars for a state where we actually owed $0. I sent multiple emails to Alpinieri in an attempt to clarify our tax return, all of which he eventually claimed were going to his spam folder. I guess all of my phone calls and voicemails must have also been going to his spam folder too. When my wife and I finally did get a chance to sit down with him, he spent 40 of our 60 minutes talking about his personal life and his legal battles with his sibling. After our "meeting" we received another tax return filing from him which was once again done incorrectly. Sadly, this year we used his services again under the assumption that all of our information was already saved into his filing system. This year, we have received multiple fines and penalties from the IRS for our tax return being improperly filed. Despite these fines, Alpinieri has also been attempting to charge us more money than his own invoice states he can. Apparently, my wife and I are not the only ones having issues with Alpinieri has he has just been fined for repeated negligence and failure to comply with professional standards.
